Wearing a helmet in France with Aeroscreen

Someone mentioned to me that they thought it illegal to wear a helmet when driving a car in France and I read in the paper at the weekend someone being prosecuted in France who was wearing a burkha because of the limited visibility.

 

Does anyone know what the situation is or has anyone driven in France before wearing a helmet ?

 

I go to Le Mans every year and have always had a windscreen but now I have an aeroscreen and am not sure I fancy driving the whole way just with goggles.

Driven in France & Belgium with a helmet on the way back from the Ring in the pouring rain with an aero, no problem. That's not to say it's illegal, you never know with these crazy Johnny Foreigner types, I mean the French, they eat snails & never take a bath according to the Daily Heil.

I did exactly that last year, i.e. drove to Le Mans with aero wearing a helmet. Drove past a number of Gendarmes and nothing was said. Am planning to do the same this year.

 

Not really answering the question but we weren't alone either.

I've been driving a Caterham with aero and helmet in France for 5 years.

I was controlled by the police a few times and this point was never discussed.

As long as you're not required to wear it by your religion, you will be ok. Secular helmets are fine.
