  1. Anyone got the pin outs for the 992 ECU? Thanks jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. CA08 TRM Edited by - jason fletcher on 15 Dec 2007 12:58:20
  2. Tried the cans connector tonight and CC will be pleased to know it dont work.. Although everything is working correctly and laptop can see the connector it can not detect the ECU. I wasn't really bothered about changing things but it would have been nice to see the settings cos I would find them interesting. I am sure that someone more computer literate than me will sort the thing out. Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. CA08 TRM
  3. Timbo ah now that makes sense. Thanks. Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. CA08 TRM
  4. The Boy In living up to my signature at the bottom of the page, how do you over rev the engine if it has a rev limiter? Is there not a soft and hard limiter? What damage did it cause? Does a belt snapping bent the valve stems on the sigma? J Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. CA08 TRM Edited by - Jason Fletcher on 12 Dec 2007 22:54:41
  5. I'll let you guys know how I get on but I have a sneaky feeling that all I will be able to do is look whats going on because I belive its locked out and the codes floating about won't work on the later stuff. I best check my engine and chassis numbers before I take mine to SVA Thanks Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. CA08 TRM
  6. Ivan you are 100% correct. I have the wrong gear, but the right stuff is on its way. Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. CA08 TRM
  7. I have bought a kit to connect my MEB 967 ECU on my sigma 150 to a laptop.Firstly, have I the right kit for the job? Is the Caterham ECU a 967? Assuming I have then heres the problem. The instructions tell you which pins on the ECU to connect the lead to and says use pins 5, 32, 14, 22, 23, 1 and 26 these do not seem to be the ones used on the Caterham plug under the dash, these go to pins 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. There seems to have been a big change in what pin does what. Can anybody help? Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. CA08 TRM Edited by - jason fletcher on 11 Dec 2007 23:24:22
  8. Although the diagram shows a stand alone buzzer I can't find one in mine and I think its an integral part of the flasher unit. Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. CA08 TRM
  9. The Boy No it was not Caterham who said that no two cars are the same. I have been trawling through so many websites trying to satisfy my hunger for something new and it was one of them where I read it. It did build quick,I was hoping for an over winter project…. Next time I'll build a Robin Hood for something to do. Maybe it is because it’s new but I don’t think so.When it's warn it goes like a train. I just think with a bit more fuel at tick over when cold and the problem would not be there. But I maybe wrong. As for the kit, just very professionally done. Manual is cr@p.Some shortages as expected but I have to say that Sean at the factory is so efficient even that was not a problem. Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. 10. The Boy Its a whole 12 miles old, and built from a kit that is a month old. I have also heard mention of the map sensor pipe causing problems if not sealed right but as far as I can see it is. But it would be nice if Caterham fitted the same size nipple to the T.B as the map sensor has to allow a good seal both ends! I also had problems with the throttle pos sensor, it was wired up backwards.. Not a hint of waffle Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. CA08 TRM
  11. Willie I know the throttle position sensor is working ok because I saw it altering the injector voltage on the laptop when it was at Caterham. Ian I am not sure but I think that unlike the K series where theres two, the sigma has one temp sensor and I know that is working because I let it get up to 92 deg to check the fan comes on. Thanks for the ideas guys Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. CA08 TRM
  12. I just tried to fit a superbright LED to the dash and it's really easy. The flasher unit seems to have the buzzer built in so best to leave that. I fitted a 2500mcd LED with a 200ohm resistor and connected the poss wire to terminal 49 and neg wire to terminal 49A on the flasher unit and it works fine. I don't think you will find it nessesary but if you do then you know you can do it in 5 mins. Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. CA08 TRM
  13. Just looked at the wiring diagram and it looks like you could quite simply unplug the buzzer and plug them straight in to a light bulb. Just need to get the wattage somewhere near the same so the indicators flash at the same speed. You could always leave the buzzer and fit a 5mm ultrabright green LED with the correct resistor in the dash (like the immobiliser but much much brighter) Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. 14. Gambo It's been back for the post build and they checked the map in front of me and said it was right... But I am not sure it is, and from what I can gather, no two engines are the same and a standard sigma 150 map will work in some but not all and some might need tweeking?? Does that sound right or am I reading (and writing) tripe? Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. CA08 TRM Edited by - Jason Fletcher on 10 Dec 2007 21:24:13
  15. Tim Its a long time since I played around with the Solex on a mates Beetle or the carb on my Escort and things have advanced a tad... So,I have been reading about this mapping thing and it seems there are compensator parameters for air temp and coolant temp etc that will have an effect on the cold running .Although I really have not got half a clue what I am doing, if I was a betting man I would say its weak on cold start. Might have to get the gear ordered and do a crash course in the black art of mapping! Steve thanks Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. 16. When my sigma 150 starts from cold it needs to warm up before the throttle is touched or it cuts out. Any ideas?? Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. CA08 TRM Edited by - jason fletcher on 10 Dec 2007 17:11:15
  17. I have a new in packaging rear radius arm of a 91> De deon. The part number is 72098A £25.00 inc del UK mainland. Cheers Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  18. Could do but as my SVA is soon so I will find out then I guess. Thanks Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  19. Ric Trex 450SE by any chance? Didn't expect that did ya If you have one there you can see the carbon is actually sandwiched between the silver.Mine is! Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  20. As genuine carbon is either black or black I am guessing its that printed on ABS stuff they are using. Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. Edited by - Jason Fletcher on 9 Dec 2007 19:28:57
  21. It was at the suppliers where the post build was done and I did say it was bright orange, I was told it would look orange in the dark but I don`t think they fully epreciated it looked like an ripe Jaffa! Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  22. I took my Superlight 150 in for the post build check the other day. Dispite checking everything I could, I still could not get the engine to run right. When I collected it I was told it was now fine. They found the sensor that changes the voltage to the injectors was wired backwards so a higher voltage at tickover than at full throttle and it just needed a run to clear it out.. Being a little unsure of this I decided to take it for a blast to "clear it out". After only 1/4 of a mile the cat was orange and I dont mean a dull glow I mean bright bright orange and I think that stainless needs to be 900-1000 deg to glow like this . I took it back and after pluging the laptop in and saying its seems ok the guys there decided to put a set of plugs in it and then it ran fine. So I am guessing that unburnt fuel was getting burnt in the cat and that was why it was orange. So, my question is, could this have damaged the cat or shoten the life in any way? Thanks in advance Jason Currently I am qualified to plead ignorance. Edited by - Jason Fletcher on 9 Dec 2007 19:27:45
