Andrew TSK quoted me £500 to paint a new Caterham that other day. That was painting just the ali parts though and I guess its not as difficult to paint a new car. Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  2. Piers I would connect another wire to the black wire and earth it to the body or battery neg and see if its works. If it is the neg wire broke then you could just run another to the brake union at the front to save tearing to loom apart. This could be why you are seeing voltage at the plug and as its a bad earth it dropping under load. jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.

  5. Just lit up my dash for the first time and the washer and wiper switch orange lights come on with the clock back lights when the head lights are on. When the head lights are off and you switch the wipers or washers on the orange lights in the switches stay off. Is this right? Ive done loads of alterations fitting a spa dash so I may have goofed Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. Edited by - jason fletcher on 22 Mar 2008 20:38:32
  6. John I don't know what make the Q/R is but it does look very slightly different to the Racetech one I found on the net. J Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.

  8. Speedo and tacho fresh from a new kit 10 days ago. It was a K series kit so they are what ever comes with a current 1400 K. As far as I can see they would cost about £230 to buy. How doe's £130.00 plus post sound? Rubber engine mounts £20 plus post. Sold to John K series clutch cable £10 plus post. Sold to Lardy Also a used Quick release column and boss ( just add your Momo) I bought it off here a couple of months ago. The only down side is that it has been very neatly dremeled where the upper bush would be to tidy the weld up ( which is so neat you can't see it) so in its current state might wear the bush away in time so could do with a good polish is that area. It has the lock collar fitted but could be removed in two ticks. £80 plus post sound a bargain to me. Sold to Trevor cheers Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. 9. Stu yes no probs. J Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  10. Steve CC did say they had a dodgy batch of bearings a while back. What they could not understand is why I have two the same and the ones from the same batch as mine seem OK on their factory cars. I'm not keen on a wheel locking up at speed so I am pleased they are sending me some more. cheers Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  11. Lancelot yes no problem as theres 36 left J Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  12. Yes do that J Steve, no probs. J Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  13. Spoke to CC and they say that there should be no detectable play and they are sending me a pair of hubs out in the post. Thanks for the help. Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  14. Same deal as Martins post. I have about 40 amber 5mm ultra bright LEDs with resistors for 12v which are a freebie to anyone who wants a couple or three or even four . I used some in a pair of tiny repeaters ( two in each) and they worked VERY well . SAE to Jason Fletcher Caravanland Banbury Rd Warmington OX17 1JJ Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. 15. I re-fitted one last year and after a couple of goes of getting it lumpy I realised it was handed but you have look really hard to see the difference. J Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  16. I'm trying to decide how's best to wire the fuel pump in. I have a K series pump and a Hayabusa loom. Im trying to decide if theres any reason why I should use the relay in the busa loom or just use the std K set up. To help me decide I need to know if the K series pump always runs flat out when only the ignition is on regardless if the engine is running or not? Also these temp gauge's.. can they be calibrated ? I tested mine tonight and at a 56 deg water temp it read 40 deg so I could do with sorting it out if I can. thanks yet again Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. 17. Guys thanks for the replies. I have taken another look and one has more play than the other. I will give CC a call tomorrow and see what they say. cheers Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  18. Ive just finished putting the rear suspention on and and torqued the hub bolts up and Ive noticed a small amount of play in both wheel bearings. I would expect it a tiny amount with taper bearings but not on these. Is it ok? Thanks Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  19. I think you will need to use an etch primer on the aly or it the paint will peal off. For the top coat it's worth taking a look at the Hammerite smooth paint with a satin black finish. You will find its a perfect match to the rest of the powder coating. Needs a bloody good shake before spraying though J Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  20. Regin, I'm guessing I will have to take the lug down a bit more to the 43mm. Although if you download the current build manual (the one I had when I did the diff mod)it says to take the centre of the backplate down to 43mm and theres no mention or sight of the lug. But on the build manual that came with the kit (which is a older version) says nothing about taking the centre down but it does say the lug must be taken down to 43mm and shows a picture of it. I think the best thing is to strap the backplate to the mill and take everything down to 43mm. thanks Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  21. Regin looks like you have taken the same amount away as I have in the centre of the back plate so It may be OK. Does the DD tube get as far up as the lug with the two holes in on the back plate? If so then I will have to cut mine down. Thanks Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  22. The A frame is on but the Watts links are not. Maybe they will put the tube back a couple of mm. Should get the watts links tomorrow so we will see. Thanks Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance. Edited by - Jason Fletcher on 16 Mar 2008 19:58:11
  23. Gents just started to build my new part kit and I have machined the back plate on the diff ( not a CC part) to exactly what they suggest but it looks like it will hit the DeDion tube when I lower it down on to the wheels. I have two build manuals here, one shows a diff with a back plate with a lump on the top which has two threaded holes in it and another build manual shows a diff back plate with no lump on the top. So are there two Ford diff back plates or have CC made there own? And why is mine going to clonk the tube even though I have machined it away? thanks in advance again for your help. Jason Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
  24. As my ECU is not mappable I will have to see what works. If 95 does the trick then I'm up for the £ saving. J Currently, I am qualified to plead ignorance.
