  1. I am fitting the Caterham roller barrels to my R400 duratec. Its an S3 with an early metric chassis. I am going with the foam air filter, not the big track day airbox as per R500. I want just a small teardrop-shaped bonnet cutout that follows the line of the airfilter. Arch will do the cutout, but require a template. Caterham only do the big cut-out, even if you dont have the airbox. Has anyone done this or got a template (or measurements) for the bonnet cutout for duratec roller barrels in an S3 metric chssis ? Thanks Angus
  2. In calibration mode I did mine by adding fuel 2 litres at a time into the empty tank until I got the first reading. That is 'Min' - 0 litres on the guage. I think it took about 6 litres. Then I added 2 litres for 3 settings and then 5 litres after that and took readings as per Stack's calibration procedure. I think there is room for about 8 settings max. I wanted more accuracy when the tank was low.
  3. Craig If you have the Caterham standard stack I dont think you can calibrate the fuel settings. I got mine unlocked by Stack. The manual here (you need to register to access it) gives you the calibration procedure for an unlocked unit.

    Blue in Shere

Indeed - great fish'n'chips from the van in Shere carpark! Recommended. Number plate fell off somewhere in France. I've got another one in the boot, keep meaning to get it fitted 😬 Angus R400DUO
  5. Rob - It was I you spotted at Versailles that Sunday. The start of our 2-week trip to the south of France and Spain. We spent most of the day in the gardens and did the palace late in the afternoon. Still a 1 1/2 hour wait though. 😔 Thanks for the spot !

    XX07CAT Blue

Parked in a layby on the A303 eastbound at about 7pm this evening. Hope you werent in trouble, I saw you too late to stop safely. Nice evening for a blat. I was in the tintop ☹️. Angus
  7. Robert Could you try Oxted Trimming ? They may well have been the original manufacturers, although I am not certain.
  8. There is about 6 l of unreachable fuel in a Duratec S3 tank. This is because the fuel pickup, which is an integral part of the (Ford Focus) pump / filter assembly is not located at the bottom of the tank. I think this applies to the Sigma engined variants which use the same fuel module. See a bit more detail here
  9. 800g sounds a lot to take out of a single component. I'd be worried about the remaining strength. Especially in something as critical as a gearbox. What evidence did you see that removing that amount of material has not affected the strength / robustness of the layshaft ? Was any structural analysis done ?
  10. Hi Guy FWIW my 6-points are 'v' and I have never had any singing problems ! Seriously when properly adjusted you dont notice them. I am a great fan of 6-point, much more comfortable on long journeys than 4-point especially with leather seats as you dont keep sliding down the seat.
  11. Examine all of the plastic of the housing / socket / plug in minute detail, perhaps with a magnifying glass. Dismantle it if that is a possibility. You may very well find a part number that you can use to track down the manufacturer. A lot of automotive connectors are made by Amp. They all have a part number embossed into them somewhere.
  12. Hi Jonathan Likewise my tubes arrived this morning. Thank you for organising the BB - the efforts you have gone to are much appreciated. (Cannot fit them at the moment - car now in Vancouver 😬) Angus
  13. Hi Dave And it was me in the red Alfa who flashed my lights at you outside school as you were turning right into a driveway last evening.

Thanks Andy So there is no difference (apart from the funny icon) between the 'Image' and 'Link' buttons. But some people manage to get pictures into their posts - I'm sure I have seen some. How do they do it ?
