  1. Classic Additions is good...if you want a picture, blatmail me.....or if you're in my area your welcome to come and have a look.
  2. Friday 5th between 4pm and 5pm. I was just entering the terminal in tintop and you looked like you were on the way to boarding so didn't get chance to say hi.....
  3. I've had mine 3 years now (an upgrade from a 1.6ss). To be honest...too fast for the road 😬....or should I say you can't keep the loud pedal down at full chat for very long without getting very illegal . On the track however 😬 😬 😬 The torque means it will pull from low revs in almost any gear. It's easy to live with and at 210bhp the Duratec is not tuned to within an inch of it's capability so should be very stable and not require too much fretting or over the top loving care..just be sensible. Power delivery is pretty linear and not difficult to handle in my opinion. 0-3500 rpm....very easy to drive..pussycat...can potter around all day 3500 - 5500rpm....bit of an angry cat..careful in the wet...great fun 5500 - 7500..raging tiger....eyes bulging ...concentrate hard, don't keep your foot in for long on the roads...stupid grins wild fun Get one, you won't look back Edited by - Steve Campbell on 17 Jun 2013 22:02:01 Edited by - Steve Campbell on 17 Jun 2013 22:02:51
  4. Probably one of the easiest DIY "major" 😬 replacements to cut your teeth on. I had the same with my first Caterham ... a 97 SS with an original design mount that had a weak spot....spotted it as the exhaust was touching the sideskin...and with a bit of investigation .... there it was. Was worried as it was just about my first thing that I needed to do on the car that needed a spanner. As stated numerous times above...if it is the engine mounts it's easy.....get the car on axle stands and have a close look at the engine mounts... get a lump of wood under the sump and try and raise a few cms using your jack.
  5. Search for "neoprene rubber self adhesive" on e.bay or Google. deon123cycle on e.bay has provided all my requirements.... Edited by - Steve Campbell on 3 Jun 2013 14:34:43
  6. Rain X is your friend..only problem is if you take the hood off and get caught in a shower it decreases the speed at which you need to go to get the water to flow over the top of the windscreen :-) Great stuff though...you can easily drive in a deluge with no windscreen wipers
  7. I was in a similar position to you for DRE fitting. I went down to Maplins and bought a pack of 10 of each size bullet connectors and then fitted the ones that looked like the right size compared to the wires I cut :-) I probably should have bought specialist crimper as well but I ended up using a mini set of pliers which did the job fine...never had a problem. I was only doing 3 wires...but doing all 3 jobs you are doing I would probably have got the crimper.
  8. Ah..found my own question from 2 years ago. Seems no for track day.... here
  9. Track day tomorrow with ambient T's in the range 0-5oC I've heard of folks taping up the oil cooler in the front of the radiator to limit oil cooling below ambient 10oC I have no oil temperature gauge, only water. Thoughts ? Thanks
  10. Both of my friends run R300s and both are using 185's front and rear (and have done for years). I think wider on the back is generally only for when you are heading towards or north of 200bhp ?
  11. Hi all, Don't want to go so far as autocom / starcom as this would need set-up on 5 cars (we all take turns in being tail end charlie but we usually have 1 squadron leader ). Back to my original post...is there a simple way to do this that only includes having the 2 way radio, a head set, ipod with some wire 😬
  12. Hi all, Just getting ready for a skiing holiday and unpacked the 2 way radios which got me thinking....I'm probably crazy.....but.... Once a year I go on a weekend away track day ...usually 5 cars in convoy. We normally communicate stops / problems by the usual method of flashing lights, tight formation and shouting at the traffic lights 😬. It generally works but there have been times when someone gets left behind at the lights and there is no clear place to pull over for a number of miles so tail end charlie can catch up. Most of us listen to music via ipod / iphone on the move to protect our ears and enjoy some good driving music. Is it possible to have an ipod AND two way radio fed into the headsets so "leader" could buzz "tail end charlie" on the two way radio ? Not sure sound quality would be any good but was just wondering on the techy bit of output from 2way and ipod going into a reversed Y piece into your headsets...I know you can get these so 2 people can listen to one output ? ...any audio techies care to comment on the feasibility or anyone tried it ? PS....I know we would only use these when we are stopped ! Edited by - steve campbell on 19 Feb 2013 19:32:15
  13. Can't comment on the specific tyres but I believe 13" gives you more options and cheaper prices ? If you are doing a lot of track time it may be worth considering changing for the smaller size ?
  14. Also check out : here There's a few threads on here if you search....some L7C members + others race on Friday evenings...it's great fun. Grids of 16+ in Season 1 Graduate Caterhams :-)
  15. Maplins Code L32BJ (2400 mAh). 8 for £10 Always near the top of the Which tests and I've never had a complaint with them (not used in flash but on all my kids toys so not high drain I guess)
  16. Thanks all for the advice. Going to clean it up at the weekend and see how bad it is (ie new bumper or re-spray !)
  17. Hi Elie, Nothing in my inbox. Took a closer look tonight (dark but at least not -2C !!!). Looks like the bumper needs more than a "little" cosmetic surgery....she caught the corner on a wall - deformed the bumper and cracked / scratched the paint over an area about 30 cm square !! OUCH here Colour Code looks like it's 103 or 1C3 (dark so can't see clearly !), it's a 2006 Toyota Corolla Verso ...a metallic dark grey.
  18. Anyone used these folks : here My wife backed her car into a wall last night and the bumper could do with a little cosmetic surgery (re-spray) where it has deformed slightly and cracked the paint. Her car is pretty standard colour (grey Toyota Verso)
  19. When I fitted mine (R400 D) I had to set cylinders to 1 for it to work.
  20. I use this : http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/product/High_Temperature_Contact_Adhesive_1Ltr_ADHCON Duratec tunnel gets hot and it's not shifted since I stuck it down with this.
  21. Anyone interested in the back catalogue of Low Flying I have January 2007 - December 2011 inclusive...only March 2008 missing. Free to a good home or a donation to NTL if you are feeling generous. Buyer collect or GONADS as it's a stack 6 inches high and weighs a bit. Based in South Bucks...can drop off in the Maidenhead / Brentford M4 corridor. If no one takes them they are going in the recycling....any new owners interested ? I also have a stack of "Which" magazines which are also headed to the recycling FYI
  22. I think Caterham changed to plastic following a known issue with the Alu one of stress fractures over time.....mines still got an Alu one (and touch wood it hasn't been a problem....yet !). So not sure fitting the same type as the old one is actualy possible if you buy new from Caterham.
  23. Thats got to be the latest "claim" to a spotted :-) We had a beautiful day at Bear Mountain...sunny and hot, but the trees had "turned"..fantastic. Was staying with my brother for a week who had 9 months in Stamford. I'am also "Ex-P889GRR" which was a K-series...and now Duratec powered.
  24. "including radio/cassette" What were they thinking !
