  2. 2nd dibs if John changes his mind for any reason Steve Superlight #63
  3. TomB duel accepted. You said you might have them - I said I would definitely have them Only joking all yours Steve Superlight #63
  4. I'll have the 5 3/4 headlights please Steve Superlight #63
  5. I guess that few grams saved on the flap compensates a little for fitting the big heavy aero cap in place of the feather light plastic item Steve Superlight #63
  6. I didn't remove the filler neck. I put two pieces of paper towel down the filler neck and used a vacuum as I removed them to catch any stray pieces of swarf. The flap in the neck is a final barrier to stuff getting in the tank. Steve Superlight #63
  7. Yeah I fitted mine inside. As Carl says the O rings will seal the external cap assembly. Finished mine off yesterday. Spent a fair while grinding out what was left of the inner flange and then used a medium emery paper to get it nice and smooth. Painted up with smooth Hamerite and unless you look closely you can't tell it has been butchered. I still think this is a standard design that has been badged up with the Caterham logo. If not whoever designed it needs sacking 🙆🏻 At the very least there should be a health warning on the work required to fit. Having said that now that its all finished it does look the dogs and it was worth the hassle Steve Superlight #63
  8. Don't forget the rear light blocks. About 0.5 Kg available for not a lot of dosh Steve Superlight #63
  9. Brilliant - panic over Thanks everyone Steve Superlight #63
  10. Some time ago I bought a set of 42mm DTH Jenvey throttle bodies with the intention of fitting them to my 1.6K Since then I have bought a second hand VVC engine with a plan to convert to solid cams and build up with a circa 190 bhp target. I have just looked at the Jenvey site and see that they refer to 45mm tbs for the VVC engine. Does this mean that the 42mm wont fit? (presumably due to different inlet port diamaters) I am away from home at present so can't check physically before someone suggests I get off my 🙆🏻 and measure them Steve Superlight #63
  11. Willie, My guess is that the reason for the holes not lining up and the cap not fitting etc is that this is a standard item that has had Caterham badging added. Might be wrong but if I am then someone has made a real mess of designing it Steve Superlight #63
  12. 1) Yes it does. You start by undoing the two self tappers that hold the filler neck to the ally flange and then drill out the rivets 2) No the holes don't line up. You need to drill new 6mm holes. The aero cap does cover the old holes. Steve Superlight #63
  13. I've never seen reference to an upgraded filler pipe to go with the aero cap and I would have thought Catreham would mention it when people are buying the aero cap. I've spent a couple of hours today drilling out the rolled lip as suggested by Tim. Looks a right mess at the moment but at least it fits now. .....and Peter you are right. There is a big difference in weight between the plastic cap and the aero. So this is definitely not a performance upgrade Steve Superlight #63
  14. Thanks Tim, Glad its not me going daft. Hadn't got to the stage of finding that the cap itself wouldn't fit - sounds like there is a bit of a design issue don't you think. Still what should you expect for £100 🙆🏻 Having said that they still look the dogs compared to the plastic metro cap 😬 Steve Superlight #63
  15. Thanks Mark. Fuel wouldn't spill out as I would only be drilling the rolled edge of the top of the filler neck which is all contained within the neck itself. I haven't seen any reports of similar problems so wondered whether it was a new feature. The peg is only about 3mm dia so not a big deal to drill out. Is there no retaining wire on yours? I did have similar thoughts about the cap scratching the car as it would definitely be resting on the back panel when undone. I'll see if anyone else has come across the problem before I butcher either the cap or the car Steve Superlight #63
  16. I am in the process of fitting an aero filler cap. There is a small peg on the back of the outer flange that holds the cap retainng wire. When I offer the flange up it is clashing with the rim of the filler neck. It looks like the cap is designed to fit into a neck with a deeper recess. The only way I can see round it is to either to remove the peg (and hence the retaining wire) or drill a hole in the neck where it clashes so it fits. Has anyone else had this problem? Any help greatly appreciated Steve Superlight #63
  17. Geoff, Yes I'd be interested. Is there much difference in price to hold earlier? Steve Superlight #63
  18. Hi Geoff Please book me a place for Cadwell in September Steve Superlight #63
  19. Mine is EU2 so I'll give it a miss thanks. Incidentally my car has only done around 15k miles and not sure how regular a problem this is. Steve Superlight #63
  20. Is the tacho the standard 0-8000 black caterham one. If so and in good condition how much are you looking for. Mine is starting to bounce around and could do with changing. Steve Superlight #63
  21. Hi Geoff, Did you get my previous mail re Cadwell? Steve Superlight #63
  22. Mines been on three or four years now with no issues other than a leak from the temperature sensor which was my fault not the rads . Steve Superlight #63
  23. Another vote of thanks from me to all involved in the organisation and running of the day. It ran faultlessly from what I saw . Thanks also to Roger for the loan of the water carrier for the occasional cooling water top ups required during the day. I thought the whole day was fantastic and OPL made things so much more relaxed. Although there was a big difference in speed between some of the cars, this only occasionally caused a traffic jam as there was enough clear track to quickly get past. Thanks also to all other drivers for good and courteous standards of driving throughout the day. Cadwell on a dry day takes some beating and being 15 mins from home helps too. Roll on next year 😬 Steve Superlight #63
  24. I origianlly bought a cover systems which lasted about three years before tearing and being chucked out. It only had a single strap in the middle and didn't hold the cover in [place properly. The cover wasn't fully fitted and this contributed to the wind being able to get underneath. I replaced it with a Hamilton Classics cover and it is superb. I've had it for four years now and it is as good as the day I got it (apart from a few blobs of bird poo on the outside). Well worth a look Steve Superlight #63 Edited to say that the Hamilton Classics cover is fully fitted and fits like a glove and has two straps. Edited by - Steve Cragg on 9 Sep 2009 23:14:40
