    ECU blown fuse

20A fuse fitted. 30A fuse upgrade a good pointer. Loose connection a likely cause, yes it did seem to be a likely suspect. thanks for quick help as always Steve Edited by - SMerK on 5 Jun 2011 21:45:22

    ECU blown fuse

K series click on Friday (since K series click returned this year ) but unlike normal still dead Sat morning ☹️ 🤔 Noticed no fuel pump noises. Found ECU fuse blown. Not sure why. But I have noticed the small lead into the front end of the starter motor (bayonet connection) is loose : the female part integral to the starter. I assume this should not be loose. I assume I have tracked down the fuse blowing and k series click problem 🤔 Does anyone agree? Does this make sense? I assume solution is a new starter motor ☹️ unless there is a way to fix the bayonet connection, although I doubt it. Any help appreciated.
  3. Thanks for the input. Will carry on trying to fix. These options will help. Ka7ie 1400SS with a past
  4. Hi Rich, Did you get to the bottom of your problem? Dear anyone reading ...... I have a similar one since the Taffia 2 day Blatt last weekend. Saturday all OK. Sunday progressively worse until now not OK when cold. Starter works when bypassed with wire from Battery to terminal. Have second relay set up & have tried with & without. No joy. The relay click noise comes from under the ECU .... assume it's working ? Having read some Blat Chat I assume it'll be a cable or the solenoid itself? Any help appreciated Ka7ie 1400SS with a past
  5. er.. yes and its done a whole 40 km since ...... OK...so it's 6000 miles & 40000 miles respectively. SMerK Ka7ie : 1400SS with a past
  6. I have recently noticed an increase in the clack clack (for want of a better description ) noise at 3000 - 3500rpm. It has always been there, and a little at around 5000rpm. Advice from other Seveners, and reading Blat Chat, tell me it's induction knock and 'normal'. This is reassuring but I still have a concern. Why has the noise at 3000 - 3500 increased in volume recently? Why would it get noisier? Engine has been raced but had rebuild around 6km ago. IF milage is to be believed it's done 40km. Still drives / goes well. SMerK Ka7ie : 1400SS with a past

    Two in Malvern

Mine was the Green / Yellow K1400SS. No a bad show and very local for me as I'm from Ledbury. Was there with friend who has various Lotussses (Loti?). Great car-fest weekend following a great Fish & Chip Run with the TAFFIA on the Saturday. 😬 SMerK Ka7ie : 1400SS with a past
  8. Having had a set of Minilites refurbished with powder coating I wish to minimise the brake dust build up. I have found various waxes & coatings on the Interweb inc. Autoglym Extra Gloss, Wheel Guard, REJEX etc. Any recommendations or 'steer clear' advice? SMerK Ka7ie : 1400SS with a past

    Horn

Horn he no workie ☹️. Separate push button horn on dash sends signal to the relay when pushed. Relay is clicking - which implies working ... . Both horns working (tested off a battery). The horns have just one lead and are in series to each other. Earthed to steering rack I assume. The Horn fuse 20A is 4th from bottom of the fuse box. But the relay is the top one of the three identical ones. Do not get the set up yet There's a 4th relay for indicators / flashers thats different at the bottom. I've swapped over the relays that are identical but no better. The horn relay did work in the lights position so seems OK. I can see no losse wires. Still no joy. Any ideas? SMerK

  17. .... I bought 535's not 353's .... typo Anyway 535's fit calipers. Have disassembled hub / brake disc & ordered new from Redline with lots of ref. dimensions given over phone to be as sure as poss.... hope all fits! Redline v. helpful. Wish me luck ....
  18. ☹️ Mintex MGB353 1144 spec. turned up. NOT the same as the ones I've got! Width same, hole positions same but overall new ones longer & slightly different curves. So should fit the calipers but not the wear in the discs. Still no idea what original pads are Will resort to new discs.... away this weekend & not have done this before & only evenings to do it in before Llandow. And obvious need to run in new pads & discs before a track day. No pressure then. Wish me luck Steve
  19. Thanks for the fast responses .... having looked at the Mintex pads they are flat bottomed & mine are concave. 64mm wide is correct though. Assuming the pin holes are in the correct place I'd need to replace the discs due to the wear from this concave bottom..... Still searching ..... Steve
  20. Photo of the pads Photo of Caliper I need to replace my single pot caliper pads for the first time before the TAFFIA Llandow track day on 28th. Car is 1400 SS 1994 ex-race series car which was rebuilt in 2000 as road car. Brakes are probably original but no guarantees. Pads are apparently hard racing pads according to previous owner who raced her. Thought it would be a doddle .... a Ford or Rover or even a Vauxhall part. After an hour with a very helpful local parts guy and his pad catalogues no luck. They are also different to those on the Caterham on line shop. Can anyone advise the brand of caliper. Logo unknown to me. Can anyone advise re the pads? Help ..... I've not got long and if I need to replace more than just the pads .... 😳 thanks to anyone who can help Steve

  23. Thanks Willie - I thought it was normal but for years I've been driving computer designed & controlled, mass produced, sanitized boxes .... I now have REAL feedback from my vehicle to use / understand .... good to have the confirmation from you and to learn another tiny bit of the jigsaw Apart from local meetings, how did we all survive before Website forum like Blat Chat? I keep asking questions & getting answers in minutes ....impressive. SMerK
  24. ❗ Note to self: check topic with search. This is certainly not a new topic! Thanks for the very fast and useful responses ! SMerK
