  1. Absobloodylutly!!! Exactly the same as OAP! Just wish i had read sufficiently or it had been pointed out eralier in the manual so i could have done a neat job on the Diff rather than whilst fitted under the car with varrious chassis members in the way!!!

    build manual

Don't bother!!! Take the 7 apart and draw/write your own. Caterham are just about to produce a new manual which should be suitable for most varriants. The present one most definately is not. How do i know? I 've just finished building and have also been in touch with others and Caterham during the process. MY 51VEN
  3. I have just built and SLR. Idealy you need two people but the second need only feed a long thinner diameter rod or screwdriver through the top (long) bolt holes in the chasis and diff whilst you lift the diff into position from below. (On my back diff on my chest i found to be best). Then with this loose diff hanging on the screwdriver you will be free to push twist or pull the lower mountings into place. Then tap the upper bolt through knoking the screwdriver out as you go and placing the washers and spacers in also. The second person need not be mechanical and can do the work from above the car once you have removed the plywood panel in the boot. please email me direct i you wish to chat.
  4. Caterham have changed the engine complete as it was cheaper for them? No loom change etc. The new engine has the same pressure on a new guage. Jez Coates tells me after he went back to Minister to ask questions that Minister have upgraded the oil pump on the VHPD and that 7 bar is to be expected.
  5. I have a new SLR which i have just finished building. It has and MBE ECU and Roller barrels and has paseed the SVA. Do i remove the Cat and fit the 4-1 exhast adapter or leave the system alone? How much extra ooomph do you get with its removal next to the cost for the adapter. Just need a dry road to try the machine now!
  6. Yep Thats what's happened. Caterham were coming for the car to fit roller barrels and do post build anyway so thay will now check it out. Lets hope it's just the gauge.
  7. Thanks for info Peter. Oil is Comma Syner G at present. I plan to change to Syner g-Z at 500 miles after some bedding in. Since the car is going back to Caterham for Roller barrels, MBE ECU and Post build check i will ask them to investigate. I thought 7 bar was to high! What is the "remote sender" how is it different to any other sender?

    Oil Pressure

Have just driven to the SVA test and back. 150 miles ish. New SLR with dry sump. Oil pressure seemed fine at low speed etc but once on the M'way and warm pressure rose to approx 7.5 bar and then after say 30 min dropped to 7 bar. All on the standard C'ham dials of course. This pressure seems high to me? My previous car used to run at about 5 - 5.5. Do i need to worry? By the way only failed SVA on one item that i could not detect until on the way. Once i was on the move and turning i found a small vibrtion throught the steering. The column was fouling on the oil pump housing. Nothing i could do whilst there to adjust so i will need to return. I did have to alter and adjust a number of items whilst there, but thats a much longer storey.
  9. Snapper you know what to do! I think its time for me to patent and produce the product we manufactured for spain last year. A few tweeks and we would have a perfictly servicable "manually controlled" system. I had settled on running the new SLR on the appropriately supplied thermostat. You and Peter have set me thinking again over my louvres! When i spoke to Minister last year about temperature b4 making the kit they were quite adamant that the optimum temp was 75 - 80 deg. And if poss should never go above. The ali head etc can not take the heat. Hence in Spain last year while everyone was a little concerned in Andora about 40deg air temps let alone the water temp in the car i had a manual fan no thermostat and a water temp i could control by adjusting louvres and fan. Where is the patent office???
  10. Can anyone out there help please? I'm building an SLR at the moment and i am currently trying to get the bell tank and tower together. But the so called crush washer wont fit over the 5/8ths union. Am i dull or just plain stupid! Please email so we can chat or i can phone you. Thanks
