  1. ETA - My sense of humour was obviously a bit too straight-faced; good luck with the sale Edited by - Ray Gamma on 17 Jul 2008 21:04:34

    Pinky

I was down at James Whiting's ( ) yesterday for an MOT and pamper, and spotted one of the pink Fireblades.
  9. Steve - I thought I might get spotted if I made enough noise ; I've just got the reverser back in and need to recalibrate the speedo - that's my excuse. MOT being done on Friday; tread on tyres just above the wear markers - I was hoping I could get the tyres changed closer to home - looks like a trip to Birmingham! See you at the next meet (no excuses now) - Rob
  10. Hi Steve, (slight hijack - sorry) I've just been doing a search on tyres; it's time to replace mine. Where's the best place to get some Avons in this part of the country? Cheers Rob
  11. Rich - YHM I'm sure if you've changed an A frame you'll be able to do this (it's just a smaller space to work in and those prop shaft bolts are a sod to get undone (change to allen-headed bolts if you can). Rob

    Helicopters

A convoy of military choppers 5 in total, including 2 Chinooks. Flying over Tadcaster circa 10:00am this morning - heading south. Stunning noise, especially the bass rumble of the Chinooks - I could hear them long before they were visible. Was that you Canonball Bob?
  13. In the distant past I managed to transfer all of my music from itunes on my Apple lap top to an external hard drive. I can't remember how I did it but it was complicated (I'm not a techy). I got the instructions from somewhere on the ipod lounge website here. I did loose a few songs in the transfer (probably less than 1%).

  15. My own amateurish thoughts run along the lines of; 1. The short prop shaft from the engine to the Nova doesn't have a universal joint at at the engine end (just the rubber doughnut). This in my mind means that the input flange of the nova box needs to be carefully lined up with the short prop shaft first and attached. If this alignment isn't correct the prop shaft will be trying to move the Nova box elsewhere - straining the system. 2. In order to get this alignment correct some spacing washers may be required to then attach the Nova to it's chassis mountings. 3. Finally attach the long prop shaft (UJ at each end and some movement fore and aft meaning that Nova box position isn't vital). This is just my numpty theory - any other thoughts?
  16. The BEC-Blat suggestion was only because I'd like to hear what we'd all sound like together 😬, and of course it would be good to put faces to names. Of course all 7s would be invited - I would be concerned however that all those car-engined 7 owners would have a mass epiphany and the second-hand caterham market would be flooded; driving down residual values - I wouldn't want to be responsible for that Edited by - Ray Gamma on 7 Feb 2008 16:23:53
  17. blade_runner - I agree with your thoughts on bracket failure - I only spotted mine had broken when reinstalling my Nova - I'd obviously put a lot of stress through the bracket by tigtening the bolts up in the wrong order. Have you any thoughts about the best way to do this? BTW - I took the advice on your previous posts and changed the chain anyway - it was interesting to see that this years chain from Nova is definately chunkier than last years with a gold bling finish 😬 Anybody up for a BEC-Blat this summer???
  18. Just spoken to Bruce, he would consider a discount if we can put in order do a batch of 4 or more - price will still be north of £100 (priced on similarity to wishbone). Will - the 'bird mounting is slightly different to the 'blade mounting and you'll be pleased to hear that Bruce is not aware of any failures
  19. Bruce quoted me circa £120 for a one off mounting. I don't know what the unit price would be if we got a batch made up. I therefore need to speak to Bruce about minimum numbers, price etc - I might not be able to do this until tomorrow (dead mobile battery). Stewart I will pick up mail this evening. Rob
  20. Will - I don't know if you've got something similar on your 'bird, but if you've got a Nova reverser I think you probably will. There is a plate attached to the front surface of the reverser box (one corner of the triangle) connected to the plate are 2 arms each end of which is bolted to the chassis (corners 2 &3), each chassis end is connected by the third bar. You can inspect from below or with the tunnel top off. My breakage wasn't obviously apparent until I put my reverser box back in and tightened the nuts. I've just taken this mounting out tonight - looks like it's been repaired at least twice before -I'm definitely getting a new beefy one. I'm not sure if there's time for a bulk buy as I want to get mine back on the road ASAP. I'll mention it to Bruce if there's any more interest. Cheers Rob Edited to add - I can email photos if it helps Edited by - Ray Gamma on 4 Feb 2008 21:50:10
  21. Lee - You're right the triangular mounting I spoke to James this morning - he suggested welding the broken arm and reinforcing the plate at the same time. My only concern about welding is that this mounting looks like it has broken through a previous weld, I therefore enquired about a new stronger mounting which Bruce at Arch is very happy to do, but this would be costly as it would be a one off. Then again I imagine re-welding on a regular basis would be costly. Cheers Rob
