Be very careful of exchange Magneton starters i had one from the people who took over from the supplier to Caterham Magnetron starter. It had the wrong number of teeth on the pinion But also turned the Wrong way, as these where made for front wheel drive VAG cars. Richard.

Hi all, My 7 was supplied as kit late 1987, I wanted webbers but was told not available as all webber production was reverted to supplying replacements for all Fiesta BB carbs which were crap. This was early 1988 so may have been 1987 also, so bought Dellorto"s.👈 At about 45,000 miles carbs started to leak onto battery🙈 It was the all metal needle valves leaking and overfilling float chambers. For needle valves use the Viton seal type. I would have though 45 perfect for 1700 bdr, i use 48s on 2ltr bdg. Think i loose a bit of top end over webbers but smoother drive low end.

The problem with trunnions apart from servicing is that they BREAK where the flanges meet the wishbones, so check very carefully at his point for cracks at side of weld.

Hi, Jw gave me this tip a gazillion years ago you will need Mole Grips for this. Gently squeese together from side to side to take out all the slake.
