  1. Quoting Stationary M25 Traveller: I would remove it first, due to the high current drawn by the starter motor. Why would you want to leave it attached ? Edit ...... increases the risk of driving off while still attached too 😳 Edited by - Stationary M25 Traveller on 3 Jan 2013 17:05:53 Just laziness if I'm honest. Would save the phaff with the bonnet. The car currently sits in the garage with the conditioner attached and with the bonnet resting in place. Huw
  2. .....you have a battery conditioner attached? I have always removed it in the past then started the car.

    GK02***

Two up. Driving through Broad Town, nr Royal Wootton Bassett shortly after 2.00pm. You drove past as my eldest and I were making slow progress on our bikes. Sounded good as you went up the hill. I can never give it the beans when I'm leaving the village as the car is yet to warm up. Lovely afternoon for it.
  4. Andrew We had a similar issue with a BT Vision remote. I telephoned BT and told them that one of the essential buttons had "broken". They sent a replacement remote FOC. If you can live with the guilt of telling such a fib it may be worth doing. Next time you're planning a blat by the way give me a shout.
  5. I don't necessarily think that small capacity, turbocharged engines are the answer in a car like the 7. I have a Polo GTI with a twin charged 1.4l engine. Yes, on a run I can see 45 or 50 mpg. Drive enthusiastically however and I get very low 20's. You really need to rag the car to get any performance out of it. MPG issues aside at least with twin-charging the powercomes on progressively. I also wouldn't want an turbo to come on boost half way through a corner in a 7. I like what Caterham are doing at the moment experimenting with superchargers.
  6. Can someone tell me when the (SV) metric chassis was introduced? Further, will an '05 bonnet fit an '07 car - again SV? Huw

    L*KAR

We were on our way to New Forest Show and saw you when about 5 miles away - not sure on road number.

    C7 DUO

Geoff Saw you turn off the Marlborough road towards Chiseldon at about 3.45 this afternoon. We were getting fuel in the Esso garage.
  10. Two; a 10 registered R500 in silver and an F 'plate with clams. Mine was the Silver with orange nose-band in the lower car park. Great day out.
  11. Hi Andrew. Was on the way home from Prescott with eldest son and heir. We got there at 8.30 and his patience ran out at 3.15. Great day out though. A perfect summers day of British motor sport (with a French twist). Forget Goodwood and it's corporate corruption. Heads for cover...... Let me know when yor get your car back. I'm in need of putting some miles on the car.
  12. Glad you got it sorted.

    Olympic Torch

I start by admitting that I am a cynical old sod at times: I accompanied a number of colleagues out of the office yesterday to see the torch go by. I have to say that I found it an extremely uplifting experience. Confessional over. Interesting to hear what others think who've seen it.....
  14. At 8.05 this morning. I was two up on the school run so did envy you on a morning like today.
  15. My Sigma car displayed exactly the same symptoms when the Lambda sensor failed FWIW.
  16. But heading into some fairly wet weather if travelling any distance down the M4, based on what I'd left behind! Hope this wasn't the same car that was seen broken down on the M25 as per the other post of yesterday.
  17. 10.15 am ish this morning. Green with yellow nose-band and stripe travelling east on elevated section of M4 out of London.

  19. Quoting mav: Quoting huwp: Quoting Dan Marsh: So I found out yesterda exactly how far one can go on the accessible fuel in my Sigma 125 SV. Although the tank is supposedly 41l, which should give a range of over 300miles, I coasted to a stop on the M4 last night after 284 miles! Due to my battery apparently being dicky (the hazards were on for about 15 mins before they had drained the battery!), I was worried it was something electrical - altenator maybe. But sticking a few litres of fuel in this morning I could here it hit the bottom of the tank. Filled her up at ASDA and it seems that only 35l are accessible in the SV tank. My fuel guage is (obviously) inaccurate so now I know that at a maximum 250 miles I really need to top up! Dan M If yours is an early one like mine the fuel pump was not located so as to be able to get the last 5 ish litres. The fuel gauge was therefore over reading. The solution? Re-seat the fuel pump? No. Caterham replaced the rev counter which in turn meant that the fuel gauge was then more accurate. Not sure that explains it properly but the problem and the fix was well documented at the time. Really? Never heard of this at all and mine was the 5th one delivered from the factory... Just to update you I covered the 216 mile round trip to Stoneleigh plus about 15 miles round and about on just over half a tank in mine this weekend... Took delivery of mine in July '07. Warranty work was done at Millwood for this problem. I think I recall some discussion on the forum at the time. I'm no auto electrician but the fix (replacing the rev counter) was something to do with the way electricity flows in series...or something like that. I'll search techtalk and see what's there...

    CR500's

I believe there is a motorsport tyre retailer in Taunton that stocks them?
  22. Quoting myothercarsa2cv: That battery masters lump is what I have (albeit with Rally Design on the side) and it seems to do the biz Cheap too! 😬 *thumbup* Which way round are the terminals on these? Thanks.
  23. Quoting kenny.: Out of interest, why do you need/want a Banner alternative? Price, reliability, size? Only asking as I've just bought another Banner Forgive me if I get any terminology wrong, but.. The Banner seems to lose it's charge too quickly if it isn't kept on permanent trickle charge. Also I've found that it often doesn't (because of the above) seem to have enough oooomph (see what I mean by terminology) to turn the car over. I have a Sigma engined car and the engine has a high compression. The K Series may be similar, I don't know. I'm not so bothered by price or weight save that the Banner does seem expensive compared to other brands such as Varta and Yuasa which seem to have a better spec? In any event my Banner seems to have reached the end of it's life after nearly 5 years and I thought it should have lasted longer.
  24. Quoting Whoosh: I went with a Yuasa Pro896 last year. Fits beautifully in the original tray, however the security strap did need modifying due to different design in the top cells. So far no complaints. Nice battery, nice price ! How did you manage your cabling? The terminals on the Yuasa are the other way round compared to the Banner. I don't think my cable will reach the Negative terminal without re-routing.
