  1. Hoping someone could help me out, I bought a set of original SLR split rim wheels, the 5 spoke style on the original SLR cars. They did not have the centre inserts that cover the wheel nuts and hub, it looks like it locates and held in place with a grub screw. Does anyone know or have an idea where i could buy replacements, can not find them on the Caterham web site. Thanks Phil
  2. I changed my engine over from EU2 to EU3 without any real problems, the engine came with the EU3 loom and MBE ecu so was pretty much drop it in and connect up. When I checked before doing this here was a chance that the rev counter would not register correctly, something to do with the wasted spark but I never encountered this problem when actually did the swop. From memory there where a few minor things on the electrics, but I am no mechanic and managed it without any real problems. Good luck Phil

If anyone can make it i am happy to offer this free, would rather it be used then go to waste. Only thing i will ask if there is a cost to changing the name then you could cover that expense, I have not asked yet so unsure if they will. Just let me know if anyone wants the spot. Thanks Phil

  14. Thanks to everyones help, I am now able to change the oil in my dry sumped, k series, it is the Caterham bell housing tank variety. My question is how is best to fill with oil, do I fill the tank through the bell housing dip stick tower or through the cam cover filler. My thought was 50/50 so cover both tank and sump, but does anyone know the correct method. Appreciate any tips and pointers. Phil
  15. Thanks for the ideas, agree totally on the engineering for the plate, cannot undertsand why no drain plug but will see if i can find the Hellier solution, seems like an ideal solution. If I cannot get the nut out will revert to the vacuum pump, just like the idea of actually being able to drain. Thanks Phil
  16. I was hoping someone can advise, I having recently bought my SLR, just getting it properly ready for the Summer and wanted to change the engine oil. Started to remove the bell housing plate and found one of the allen studs has been rounded so the allen key just turns inside. The others have been removed and I have been trying to ease the stud out, but no luck yet. I have found I can tap the plate and move it, left and right, my question really is, am I going to damage anything in the bellhousing with moving the plate to ease the stud. Having not done this before not sure what is behind the plate. Can anyone advise if this is an issue to move the plate and hopefully release the stud, or ideas on how to remove the stud without damaging anything. Thanks very much Phil
  17. Thanks Ian, will connect it that way, appreciate the advice. Cheers Phil
  18. Was hoping I could tap into the vast wealthy of knowledge out there. I am fitting some DRE shift lights to my K series EU2 car, all going well till trying to connect as instructed to the coil. The connection is a special plug adapter, so cannot connect additional wire to any of the terminals. Alternatively it says I can connect to the rev counter via the rev counter signal, but there are 4 wires going into the back of the rev counter and not being that technical I have no idea. Has anyone fitted these shift lights to a caterham and found the solution to this problem or am i missing something really simple. Thanks for any help, appreciate any suggestions. Phil
  19. Thanks for the all advise, i did see a slight drop in oil presssure when i had it fitted to my other engine with wet sump, but the benefits out weighed this issue. It seems that there is a potential benefit to fitting it, but reading the comments maybe a better solution is to install an oil cooler as described by 7 Wonders. It seems the oil heats up ok with the DS from comments so a stat control on an oil cooler seems to be a better solution. Really appreciate the information, it has given me the answer i needed. Cheers Phil
  20. Hi, I have a quesiton that I have been pondering for a while. I fitted a Laminova to my last car which was excellent for heating the oil quickly on warm up but primarily it cured the issue I had of the oil on track days getting really hot and only managing 10 mins before having to pit. This I removed before i sold the car and scratched a big itch of owning a SLR, fortunately this one came with a dry sump. Now my question is that whilst I only do a few track days I want avoid a repeat of the problem, but no experience of dry sump. Do I need to consider fitting the laminova or will the dry sump cure the issue with oil getting too hot on track. Also if it is worth ftting is this a difficut job, the last one had fitments for an apollo tank, is there standard fitments available to put into the dry sump system, the car has the caterham bellhousing type dry sump set up. Would appreciate any guidance, bofore the car comes out of its winter hibernation. Thanks Phil
