  1. Spotted you heading up the hill. Gave you a toot and a wave from the tin-top (Silver BMW 1-series) Peter Burt
  2. I can feel another trip to CC coming on!! Peter Burt
  3. Bruce Yep, it's a 77659. Do you happen to know if you need a special tool to put the poppers on? Peter Burt
  4. You're right, galvanising is a complete no-no for this application. I may yet just go the painted route via Tony at TSK for £50, if the other powder-coaters don't impress. Peter Burt
  5. Bruce Just wear a baseball cap and pretend you're younger..................I do! I'll check the ref. of the boot cover when I get home tonight. Peter Burt
  6. Bruce, thanks for the heads-up on the boot cover. CC do indeed still supply a specific one for the old FIA bar, it just isn't listed on the website. I had made the mistake of not picking up the phone to them! Anyway, now bought for 65 quid and I've got a popper-project for the Xmas break. Oh yes, belated happy birthday from me too Peter Burt
  7. Thanks guys for your feedback and advice. I think I will do some phoning around and have a chat with a few of these people. As it happens, I had a meeting in Sittingbourne this morning, so took the opportunity to go and see Medway Galvanising. They said they would have to drill holes in the main tube (to let the liquid dip out) 😔. They also showed me an example of their work - piece of ornamental iron-work) and all I can say is the finish was very poor - lots of 'pinholes' SM25T: thanks for the offer re NSP at Longfield, much appreciated. As you say, they do look professional from the website (but then so did Medway Galv.!) They're almost on my way in to/home from the office so will probably be able to get there okay if I choose to go with them, but cheers anyway. Watch this space! Peter Burt
  8. I'm looking to get an FIA bar re-powder coated, standard black. Can anyone recommend a firm in Kent, or offer comment on any of the following 3 firms I found via Google: 1. Medway Galvanising - Sittingbourne 2. NSP Coatings - Longfield 3. Custom Wytelyne - Chatham Medway Galvanising recommend galvanising prior to powder coating (maybe they would wouldn't they?) Other threads have extolled the virtues of "nylon" powder coating, but are there any down-sides of using this material? What about "epoxy" coating? Peter Burt
  9. I may be at CC in the next couple of days so will see if I get the same answer as you did! No conflict between diagonal and headrests at all - mind you, I don't have the seats right back; I think they might impinge if fully back. Yes, I looked down to where the bolts fix - it is a very close fit above the damper. I'm told the standard weather gear still fits over the FIA bar. I have yet to put that to the test though! See you on track maybe. Regards Peter Burt
  10. SM25T- Tell me about it........... Bruce - That's interesting, as I thought that CC no longer stocked the boot cover for the Arch roll bar (which has thicker rear tubes than the current Caged bars). And you're right, the old cover would also need alteration around the front tubes, so, all in all, it could end up as a bit of a dog's dinner (or even a dog's 🙆🏻!!) I'll give CC a call. No, I haven't fitted the lower front bolts yet but I do have the correct, slim-headed ones. Are you saying that these could still be too thick? Is that what you mean by 'turning down' - making them thinner still? Peter Burt
  11. Hi Ian Thanks for the thought. This was going to be 'Plan B' in the event I cannot source one ready-made. Jill Judd has quoted me c. £40 to make the alterations (and indicated that it was a very fiddly job - tricky to get right - could end up with puckered holes 😳 apparently) They do come up occasionally (boot covers that is ), so fingers crossed. Peter Burt
  12. Looking for boot cover to fit a non-SV S3, now fitted with an Arch (ie single diagonal) FIA roll bar. The rear sloping tubes are much thicker than on the standard bar, so need the boot cover with the bigger holes to suit. Also needs to fit over hoodsticks if that's relevant. Very good/excellent condition (or unused!) preferred. Peter Burt
  13. Spotted you parked in Seal early Friday morning. Are you a local blatter? Peter Burt
  14. Spotted you about 3.15pm Saturday. Didn't register the body colour but did note the brown/Beige Hood in the misty gloom of a very dull and wet afternoon. Maybe the same one that SM25T spotted earlier in the day further north? Full marks for being out in the 7 in such atrocious weather Peter Burt
  15. Focus roof bars now sold. Peter Burt
  16. Same luck here Alan, shame your BMW bars wouldn't fit my 1-series ☹️ Peter Burt
  17. Focus now sold, so looking for a home for the roof bars. Ford Part No. 1 073 153. To fit hatch model from 2001-2004 (Mk1 Facelift model) Very good condition, complete with all fittings and 3 keys for locking end-plates. Cost new £67.00. Looking for £30.00. Peter Burt

Pendennis Sounds good to me. Let me know where abouts in Surrey you are and I will arrange to come over and pick it up, possibly at the weekend if convenient. Cheers Peter Burt

    Roll bar

Hi Pendennis Is this an original Arch/CC FIA approved "track-day" rollover bar - ie with a single diagonal strut? Also, is it standard height (ie okay with a standard hood)? If yes to all this, what's the colour and condition? I'd be looking to fit it to my 1996 Dedion Roadsport. Peter Burt
  22. StEVEN, I'm older than I'll ever admit to! 😶‍🌫️ PS. I should add that the Imp wasn't new when I bought it Peter Burt
  23. Alan I've checked my accessories catalogue and, unfortunately, they definitely are not compatible with a 1-Series. Sorry. All the best Peter Burt
  24. Cheers Alan. I'll check the number in my accessories catalogue too. Peter Burt
