  3. Hi, We are about to balance the twin Webbers on my Blydentein 1600 VX with Kent cam, and we want to check the timing when we do it. Does anyone know the timing information please for this engine with porting, Kent cam and twin Webbers? If not, is there somewhere I can find out please? Thanks for any help. cheers, Paul.
  4. Super plate L7 BLX on retention with assignment fee already paid. Unsure of value - any suggestions on fair price much appreciated....
  5. Hi, I have just bought a blydenstein converted car, and could be interested in this for spares if nobody needs it more urgently....Let me know if Tre7or decides against it. Cheers, Paul.
  6. Thanks Richard, I'll go for the MGB533m1144's. Regards,Paul.
  7. Hi Richard, I have new CR500 tyres on 8" rear and 6" front 8 spoke rims. I am unsure what the pads are, but they were fitted by the previous owner who had planned to use the car on track. All I know is that after having bled the system with dot 5 fluid and checked the calipers etc, the brakes are extremely poor when cold, and have no feel to them even when warm. My race mechanic friend suggested that the pads are a very hard compound, and that it would be good to fit softer ones. I have always been happy with standard pads on previous cars. The Mintex MGB533M1144 option sounds fine. Thanks for the help.
  8. Hi, I have standard S3 brakes with fairly hard pads, and am looking for softer pads mainly for road use, that work well from cold. Any recommendations for pads and supplier please? Cheers, Paul.
  9. I'd be interested in a close fitting heat shield for an R400 duratec silencer. Very pleased with my grille....
  10. Bulk buy offer now posted in bulk buy section
  11. .....ps...when one garage door shuts...another one opens......sorry! 😳
  12. No interest in my 7 but loads of e-mails about remote controlled garage doors....so I asked the company if they will offer a bulk buy to club members, family and friends....and they will. They can offer no further discount on a £699 single door special offer package, but can give a massive discount on a superior system with longer range operation, AEG motor and lots of other features. I am having one of these, and we need 9 more installations to obtain the discount. If of interest, please check out the bulk buy section - it should be on there this weekend. Single doors, door and a half and doubles are all discounted. I have just managed to rent another garage near to my own, so the 7 is staying.
  13. Hi Mike, Yes we only make high quality roller doors and supply direct to the public at a fraction of the normal price. Regards, Paul.
  14. Hi Mike, I was retired, but the job came along - just got back (worked good Friday, Easter Monday and today) which was a shock. However, I am really enjoying it, demonstrating remote controlled garage doors and then measuring up. There is a working one fitted in the back of my van. Virtually every visit they send me on results in an order as they are great doors at a fraction of the price of others. I meet people with amazing cars and bikes, and it is a real joy. The down side is that it does rather take over your life. with no time to spend on it at the moment, it seemed a good idea to offer the car before our move. as renting a garage away from the home doesn't really appeal. Regards, Paul.
  15. Having owned many Caterhams from 1.6 VX to CSR260, we decided to build a Caterham for fun road use - not the fastest, but light, agile, reliable and fun. After 15 months working (on and off) with an excellent race engineer, and well over £25k it was finished, and the car, which had a 4 page article in the club magazine a few years back, was ready to MOT and map. As always with a project like this, there are a few minor tweaks planned to do. Due to new job, house move in 2 weeks and loss of double garage, it is offered for quick sale. 16. Looking for the above for a friend with an S3 please.
  17. Hi Richard, The speedo has a label with the numbers 120.020/170/013, and I can send pics if that helps....
  18. Hi Richard, My car was originally a 1992 6 speed 1400 k series, and I think it is the same. Perhaps someone knowledgeable on here may be able to advise?
  19. VDO speedo and speedo cable for sale. 20712 miles recorded. In good working order. For sale as going electronic. Pictures available. £50.
  20. There is nothing at all wrong with the standard starter motor, which I will continue to use. I bought the Powerlite one as I am using a lightweight race battery, and thought that it would draw less current. I am trying to spec my car as highly as I can afford. The Powerlite starter looks heavier than the original rather than the weight saving Powerlite claim... I did ask the person who sold it to me to return my money. As I did not have the packaging any longer, and as 8 months had passed, he refused, but offered to split any loss I made by selling it on ebay. Sadly I can't do that as it won't fit the engine it is supposed to, and although a well known club member, has won't answer my e-mails, which is disappointing to say the least.
  21. Hi Jonathan, The person who sold it to me on this site (I'm sure in good faith) e-mailed me before I bought it confirming that it would fit my Caterham providing I was using the Caterham flywheel and not a Raceline one - he had got the RAC446 in error and should have bought the one to match his Raceline flywheel. He decided to sell on the RAC446 as he said that Powerlite were "a nightmare to deal with." it bolted straight on to our duratec engine, but it was 8 months later when the car was finally rebuilt and we tried it. I e-mailed him when we found the problem. He said to put it on e-bay and sell it, but I can't because it could cause so much grief for someone. If you check out the Ford part numbers the RAC446 replaces, they have 11 teeth. We measured the pinion diameter of one, and it is the same diameter as the 9 tooth one on the RAC446, so the RAC446 with 9 teeth cannot be right. This is why it wouldn't engage on our car. The Ford part with 11 teeth does work on both the original duratec (FWD) and the Caterham. I hope that makes sense. Whatever "standard" means, the part numbers that the Powerlite literature state it is compatible with are wrong, and they can't be arsed to investigate. Thanks for your suggestions - much appreciated.
  22. Hi Jonathan, That is one of them, but there is another that I can e-mail to you which states all the Ford part numbers that the RAC446 should be a direct replacement for. Please can you let me have your e-mail address and I'll send it over. Cheers, Paul.
  23. Hi Jonathan, Here is part of an e-mail from their technical chap below. I have the sales leaflet saved in "my documents". I can e-mail it to you, but unsure how to put it on here? My sales data for the RAC446 states the following: RAC446: Ford Duratec engine with standard flywheel (Not Mazda). Suitable for a 112tooth ring gear, The unit has a 9T 29mm pinion gear. Direct replacement for original unit. As you will see, he states 9 tooth pinion gear - the duratec uses an 11. we measured both and they are the same diameter - so it can't work.
  24. Yesterday we proved beyond doubt that Powerlite are supplying starter motors for the standard duratec flywheel that do not work. The standard duratec flywheel requires an 11 tooth pinion. The RAC446 both in their literature and in the flesh has a 9 tooth pinion of the same diameter as the Ford 11 tooth one. There is no way that their starter motor can work. I informed the Eurolec MD (parent company) and he basically told me to get lost, and refused to answer e-mails. If that was my business, I would be extremely grateful that someone had found a serious problem with one of my products so that it could be withdrawn and rectified before more grief is caused to customers....but not this joker - he couldn't give a stuff!! As mentioned, I purchased this from someone on here, so probably have no comeback, but will contact Trading Standards anyway. Amusingly, he told me to take the matter up with the company who supplied the club member from whom I bought it. I was given the original receipt of sale with the starter motor, and it was Eurolec who supplied it!!!! I have come across one or two companies that should be avoided at all cost, but this one takes the biscuit. Buyers beware!!!! After all this, despite having several people who want it, I am landed with a starter motor I can't sell, because it may not fit anything. Anyone know of a Ford starter motor with 9 tooth pinion please? Perhaps it will fit my lawn mower... Edited by - madmaninshed on 21 Feb 2013 08:11:39
