  1. John - nope, it's to do with the AutoCom I've installed - want to run a lump of cable from the SBFS draught excluder (where the AutoCom lives) to the SFBS Tunnel Touring thingy (where the iPod will live), so that my CoPilot can change the tracks (bit tricky if the iPod is in the draught excluder and you've got a 4-point harness on). I just wondered if I needed a 2m cable or 3m cable. I'm hoping for 2 but I'm guessing it's going to be 3... Am out in the 7 tomorrow (but v early, so won't be going past a Maplin etc) Mike
  2. Please measure the distance from the gearstick to where the tunnel top meets the back panel (just behind the seats)? I forgot and I wanted to get something today whilst out and about Cheers Mike
  3. I don't recall if I was charged or not, but I do remember them asking me to have a spare bottle of coolant just in case one I'd been for a run it needed a top up (it never has), a 1l bottle was about £1.50 from the motor factors Just be careful as (on my Sigma based SV) I needed new mounting brackets for the bigger fan that the new Rad needed - both of which they tried to charge me for even after I'd had a formal price for the job - they soon relented thou Mike
  4. As you know I went down the CC route as we came to a compromise, in my view you paid CC for the 7, so they owe you a fix under their warranty, either with another plastic and ally job or see if you can get them to sport the cost of the plastic and ally one off of a new R400 one. If you don't get them to fix it, you've wasted your hard earnt £'s (cant find the cost of your exisitng one on line at the mo) All IMHO of course Mike
  5. Quoting Stationary M25 Traveller: Maybe ask Oxted Trimming A very helpful bunch when I popped in the other day Mike Edited by - michaeljclark on 8 Feb 2011 12:43:53
  6. New Fan & mounting brackets (from CSR 260 if I recall) were also required and a slight change to pipework (no auto bleed on the all Ally job). Took Kevin and the boys at CC South about 30 minutes to do plus a 10 minute warm up to "test" for leaks. They even have the engine bay a quick check over & a clean Mike 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  7. Just posted about similar I'd noticed issue with mine just before the GNMB and then on the day it drank a litre of coolant. Rad was leaking from the top join. I did a deal with CC as mine was possibly part of a "suspect" batch, so they stumped up for a "standard" one and then I made up the difference to an R400 "Road" all ally jobbie. In the last 500 miles since fitting, it's been all good - might be worth having a word with them? 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  8. My little Sigma 150 had a standard ally & plastic rad which leaked. Being a nosey sod I phoned the previous owner, who was most helpful in telling me that he's had the rad replaced twice before I'd got the car (via CC south). Following so tooing and froing with CC and a good chat with Kevin and the fellas at CC South (helpful bunch ), it now has a R400 all ally rad in with a monster fan to keep it coooool. Personally I'd steer clear of the Plastic/Ally combo job. Mike 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  9. That would be me (Sidcup native) 😬 I was on route to fill up with Petrol prior to todays Blat 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe Edited by - michaeljclark on 6 Feb 2011 21:19:40
  10. Yep going to be careful - nice "touring" blats for me - no need to go crazy. I'll get the fronts changed later this month once I've been paid - got a lot of out goings this month (house ins / tin top ins / autocom). Odd (I thought) that Avon have let what I would have thought would be a popular tyre sit on supply constraint since December (Tyre shop has an order in for 10 - dunno what else they fit) as it basically means that anyone like me needing a tyre now basically needs to replace either 2 or all 4 tyres. I'm sure CC would love to sell me 4 CR500's for about a tonne each plus fitting, according to the parts chap I spoke to, its pretty much all they supply now - my SV should (he thought) left the factory on 500's (dunno if that's true) Hey ho - such is life 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  11. 2 x Toyo Proxes T1-R's on route to be fitted Friday £140 fitted...... I'd change the fronts next month, there is only so much the Mrs will allow...... Mike 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  12. MOCA2CV Very kind, but I think it's going to look most odd as I have the 10 spoke anthracite jobbies on the 7 and I don't remember you having the same? Mike 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  13. I need a new tyre - currently the car is running Avon ZV3 195/45 R15 78V Having phoned the local tyre place they didn't have any, so they phoned Avon - they've been on back order since December. Caterham don't have any (they no longer fit them) and don't recommend fitting just 2 CR500's - they want to do all 4 (performance reasons) But they did suggest fitting ZV1's as an alternative. No tyre means no blatting and I don't really want to be spending £500 this month. Are the ZV1's any good? Mike 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  14. :ahem: That's the plan Ian if others are up for it - It would have been handy had they been here in time for tomorrow (in time for the NK Meet), but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Interestingly when asked why I didn't want a conventional kit, he suggested connecting the power to the one of the ignition connectors (which is full on my car) so he suggested the "live" side of the brake circuit (which I can get to without any drilling and is switched) I see Maplin do "spade piggy back" connectors and I've got a spare "in line" fuse and the power drawn is 250Ma or amI being very naughty Mike 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe Edited by - michaeljclark on 31 Jan 2011 13:29:50
  15. FYI: 10% Discount is available for all LSC members from Autocom, the chap I spoke to said that as AutoCom/StarCom all live under the same roof, Autocom would match the StarCom discount and that I was to let you all know! 1 x Super Pro and 2 x headsets ordered and delivered for Wednesday 😬 I'll be fitting Friday Mike 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  16. Cheers Ian 😬 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  17. Well the sun came out today in Sidcup, so with my Caterham beanie set at a determined angle and my chin jutting out "just so" and poised with my tool kit I went looking for the wires. Deffo not under or attached to the boot floor, so up went the 7 on a jack and some axel stands. Off with the RHS rear wheel and I slackened off the handbrake and off came the tunnel top (not as tricky as I thought, but I've grazed a few joints in getting the handbrake adjuster undone). Nope not under the tunnel top (but found some interloping spiders instead 😳) back under the car with a torch (its bright out side, but every little helps) and lo and behold I've found them sitting right on top of the diff!!!!! Back to the tool box and get a set of long nosed pliers as my fingers are not quite small enough to get to the connectors from the space in which their living. Give them a little tug - nothing, get the kid from next door, who's having a good gawp (and initially thought I'd come a cropper) to get my torch and shine it down the transmission tunnel. It would seem whoever build the 7 has cable tied (i can see the cable tie laughing at me) all the available slack to the tunnel, or there is NO slack 🙆🏻 Still I have learned something about how the 7 is put together, as they would say in Seasame Street: So it will be plan B which will involve purchasing some some cable, taking the tunnel top off again, running said cable from the battery (no spare connectors on the ignition), down the tranmission tunnel (making sure it's connected secuely) and terminating it near the SBFS Draught reducer where the AutoCom is going to live PS I know the club has a discount with StarCom, but I'd prefer the AutoCom. Do we have any discount with AutoCom? Cheers all Mike 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  18. Ian, yep - that the whole boot out (and gave it a quick clean whilst I was at it), bit odd I though have a bit of Ply wood in there! (floor covering the tank is Ali honey combe stuff, the bit over the top of the diff is 5 ply.... dunno if its supposed to be like that ) Colin - thanks I'll have a look Mike 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  19. Thanks! Mine are hiding then Mike 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  20. I know Ian, I know 😬 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  21. According to CC, my 2007 Sigma based SV should have some power leads somewhere near the diff. If anyone has their in bits for "winter upgrades" that also has factory fitted "boot" power that could take a pic for me, I'd be most grateful. I had a look last weekend, but couldn't actully see anything that looked as if it was "spare". They may also be in the tunnel top (according to CC) but thought I'd start with the easier place to look first! Cheers Mike 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  22. After some , yesterday it turned out all good - the wiring is in, and tidy - oddly it was easier to take the speedo out and get the extra room to work with. John 😬 as Martin says I now have a Caterham 7 SV GHIA..... Bri - hadn't thought of that - might have been easier - still hindsight and all that... if I may what are you using for your heated seats, my Attractive Co-Pilot (aka the future Mrs Michael Clark would probably love a set of those!!!!!) However I may just pop to B&Q and get a switch for a table lamp and wire it inline and velcro it behind the dash so that it's out sight but for those who know what they are looking for. My next project is to look for the Power Cables that connect to Fuse O, which my handbook says is the Power Socket. A call to the CC factory resulted in me being told that my car should have them and they are cable tied near the diff but that they could be under the tunnel top. Well I can't see spare power (red with purple trace I think) cables at the diff (that was interesting - taking out the "boot" floor), so tunnel top it is. It's all a good learning exercice for me!!! 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  23. Thanks Nigel SBFS also have them I've also emailed Oxted. Mike 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  24. I'm after a drivers side armrest for an SV please Anyone got one knocking about from a 1/2 door / aero conversion? Cheers Mike 07 Plated RoadSport SV 150 in Red with Black nose band and stripe
  25. Well I ventured forth into Maplin and purchased a 1m length of their LED flexible strip lighing and a soldering iron With only one burnt finder (1st time I've used a soldering iron in 15 years), I've got this far: 7 with lighting At the moment it's wired to come one with the instrument lighting - via the connectors for the instrument lighting on the side light switch (if you look hard it's not in the dash - it's just a "bodge" at the moment), but I want to get an individual switch (maybe one of these from Car Builder Solutions, so that I can switch it off if it's not needed. There is a small matter of cutting into a carbon fibre dash 😳 The cable is running between a large "gap" I found between the dash and the side of the scuttle, with the SVA rubber strip attached to the scuttle it's neatly hidden away and you can't see it - the SVA strip also keeps the LED's in place (the strip has double sided tape that I could use but am not using at the moment). It's quite bright - the blackberry photo doesn't do it justice - But I must say that (as long as it doesn't blow the car up) I'm jolly impressed with myself!!!!
