  1. Monday 22nd July 2024 THIS EVENT IS BEING SUPPORTED BY MILLWOOD COTSWOLD CATERHAM www.millwoodcaterham.co.uk What: Club-exclusive Trackday (with free instruction available on the day), starting with sessions and moving to open pit lane. Where: Castle Combe is located close to the M4 motorway, some five miles west of Chippenham in Wiltshire. Further details can be foundat: www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk We have enjoyed many Caterham and Lotus 7 Club exclusive trackdays at this astonishingly quick circuit in its beautiful Wiltshire location over recent years. The good news is we will be returning for another mid-season action-filled Club-exclusive trackday in 2024. We will be running three sessions per hour of just 12 cars per session, in the morning and intend to move to Open Pit Lane after lunch. Consequently there are only 36 spaces available for this event. The circuit has in the past hosted rounds of the British GT and Formula Three Championship but sadly in recent times noise restrictions have limited the racing schedule. Viewing at the circuit is fantastic, with access to virtually all of the circuit and most importantly, the circuit restaurant offers good, traditional food. There are no garages on site but the paddock does have a large amount of hard standing. The famous track is wide and open, and, at more than two miles long, provides plenty of space. And don’t forget – Combe is the home of the legendary Quarry Corner! The cost of taking part is £245 for a car and main driver, an additional driver is priced at £40 and passengers are welcome subject to a nominal charge of £5. The day is subject to a 100dB(A) noise limit measured statically prior to starting track activities. Cars will not be permitted onto the circuit unless fitted with an MSA-acceptable rollbar or roll cage. In practice, this normally means the use of the ‘trackday’ or ‘FIA’ rollbars as supplied by Caterham Cars. Please see our Trackday Safety Requirements and Recommendations document which includes guidance on rollbars. Links to Trackday Safety Requirements and Recommendations (TSSR) and Third Party Insurance are here Webshop Terms & Conditions can be found here Signing-on will be online and via email before the event as in recent years. All drivers must be members of the Caterham and Lotus Seven Club, driving Lotus 7 or Caterham cars. Non refundable costs were incured on 30/11/2023. 2. Tuesday 9th July 2024 THIS EVENT IS BEING SUPPORTED BY METEOR MOTORSPORT. www.meteormotorsport.com What: Club-exclusive sessions with free instruction available at the famous Oulton Park circuit. Where: Oulton Park is located approximately 12 miles North West of Crewe and 13 miles East of Chester, next to Little Budworth. The circuit is easily reached from the M6 motorway and is best accessed from the A54 and the A59. Due to popular demand, we are returning to the very popular Oulton Park, after a year away, for a Club-exclusive sessions trackday that is open to intermediate or experienced trackday drivers. This is a brilliant circuit for Sevens, combining quick straights with swooping dips and curves including the famous banked Shell Oils hairpin, the double-apex Lodge Corner and the famous – and stomach troubling – Old Hall Corner. A fabulous location for a Sevens trackday and a ‘must drive’ circuit. We will be running Club-exclusive sessions through the day (a 20-minute session per hour) to provide roughly two and a half hours of track time in total. Whilst this is a sessioned event (with all participating Club drivers able to go on track during our sessions) we will limit numbers to a maximum of just 35 cars. Instructors will be available on the day without additional charge. The format of the day will allow Club members to use the circuit at any time during our allocated sessions, Given the challenge and nature of this circuit, this event is not suitable for novice or first-time circuit drivers and so consequently you must be at an intermediate or advanced level to participate. We will be providing free instruction on a first-come first-served basis throughout the day, as usual. The cost for a car and main driver, including the benefits listed above, is good value at £290; an additional driver (who must be a Club member) costs £40 and any passengers are charged at £5 each. Cars will not be permitted onto the circuit unless fitted with an MSA-acceptable rollbar or roll cage. In practice, this normally means the use of the ‘trackday’ or ‘FIA’ rollbars as supplied by Caterham Cars. 3. Thursday 27th June 2024 THIS EVENT IS BEING SUPPORTED BY METEOR MOTORSPORT. www.meteormotorsport.com What: Club-exclusive sessions on an MSV organised trackday at the historic Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit (with free instruction available on the day). Where: Brands Hatch is located on the A20 near West Kingsdown, just three miles from junction three of the M25 and linked via the A20 to the M20 and M25/26 motorways. Further details can be found at www.brandshatch.co.uk We are excited to be making another visit to the long-term Club favourite at the full Brands Hatch GP circuit. This fabulous venue brings memories of great champions and racers including Hunt, Lauda, Mansell, Piquet, Rindt, Clark, Brabham, Hill and many more (depending how far back your memory goes…). Now it is your turn again because we have secured Club participation on an MSV trackday that will take place at this historic and much loved former Grand Prix circuit in 2024. Our Club-exclusive sessions will run through the day, operating for twenty minutes every hour and with MSV’s other clients using the remaining time. Allowing for a lunch break we expect to have seven sessions in total, providing more than two hours of track driving in the day. The format of the day will allow Club members to use the circuit at any time during our allocated sessions. Given the challenge and nature of the GP circuit, this event is not suitable for novice or first-time circuit drivers and so consequently you must be at an intermediate or advanced level to participate. We will be providing free instruction on a first-come first-served basis throughout the day, as usual. The event is subject to a 101dB noise limit measured statically prior to starting track activities, and a 92dB drive-by noise limit that is measured on track. The cost for a car and main driver is £375, an additional driver (who must be a Club member) costs £55 and passengers are charged at £10 each. Cars will not be permitted onto the circuit unless fitted with an MSA-acceptable rollbar or roll cage. CADWELL PARK

Tuesday 21st May 2024 THIS EVENT IS BEING SUPPORTED BY TURN7 LTD www.turn7.co.uk What: Club-exclusive trackday with free instruction, starting with sessions and moving to open pit lane, at one of the Club’s favourite circuits Where: Cadwell Park is located on the A513, approximately ten miles north of Horncastle and five miles south of Louth in Lincolnshire. Further details can be found at www.cadwellpark.co.uk Our annual trackday at Cadwell Park is, for many, the most eagerly awaited event in the Club’s entire trackday schedule; it is the event that is most remembered and talked about long after the day itself has passed. Known fondly as the 'mini-Nürburgring', the circuit offers tight curves and fast sweeping corners, plenty of elevation change and the breath-taking ‘Mountain’ crest, all within a stunning open park and woodland setting. It’s certainly a wonderful circuit to drive in a Seven. We will have exclusive use of the circuit throughout the day, starting in Sessions format (with drivers grouped according to experience and ability) and then progressing to Open Pit Lane (OPL) operation as soon as possible and – other than in exceptional circumstances – no later than lunchtime. The event is suitable for drivers at all levels. We provide free instruction which is available to all drivers (bookable on the day). The day is ‘noisy’, subject to a 105dB limit measured statically prior to starting track activities. The cost for a car and main driver is £230; an additional driver (who must be a Club member) costs £40 and passengers are charged at £5 each. Cars will not be permitted onto the circuit unless fitted with an MSA-acceptable rollbar or roll cage. 6. Monday 13th May 2024 THIS EVENT IS BEING SUPPORTED BY METEOR MOTORSPORT. www.meteormotorsport.com What: Exclusive Caterham and Lotus 7 Club “Novices Day” – with extended novice-friendly briefing session and extensive (free of charge) one-to-one instruction on the open Castle Combe Circuit. Where: Castle Combe is located close to the M4 motorway, some five miles west of Chippenham in Wiltshire. Further details can be found at www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk Following the ongoing success of our Club “Novice Trackdays’” we are delighted to offer the chance to participate, early in the 2024 trackday season, in a similar event at Castle Combe - a very popular Caterham and Lotus 7 Club venue. This Club-exclusive event is aimed specifically at members who class themselves as a novice or newcomer, or those who may need a comprehensive refresh after a substantial period away from any track activity. It will be ideal for those who want to get on track with the Club in a friendly, supportive and structured environment, at a safe and well-equipped venue and on a circuit that offers lots of space, has an easy-to-learn layout and provides sufficient technical challenge to match growing levels of confidence as the day goes on. As a result of the success of selling out our last four novice events we have again provided for a significant number of participants – up to 27 cars – whilst maintaining a superb ‘instructor to driver’ ratio. Following the extended briefing session, track activity will start with members divided into groups, with no more than nine cars on track at any one time and with pre-allocated instructor slots. Later in the day we will move to a controlled Open Pit Lane approach – though still with a limit to the number of cars on track and plenty of one-to-one instruction being available throughout. The day is subject to a 100dB(A) noise limit measured statically prior to starting track activities. The cost to participate is set at £225 for a car and main driver; an additional driver (who must be a Club member) will cost £65 and passengers will be welcome at £5 per head. This will be a fantastic day that will take you through the formal steps, allow you to gain experience, build confidence and set you up for more trackday events. Places are limited so early booking is recommended! We have reserved exclusive use of the circuit for 40 minutes per hour for C&L7C members, with MGoT participants using the remaining 20 minutes. Two different circuits will be available during the day, changing over from Coastal to International layouts at lunchtime. Our running will commence with sessions (with participants grouped and allocated to one of two 20 minute sessions) but our intention is to move to a 40 minute per hour Open Pit Lane (OPL) format – allowing track access at any time throughout our 40 minute period – no later than lunchtime. 12. The end of the year is fast approaching and that means the first Sunday in November and Sossiges, the London to Brighton Veteran Car run gathering at Handcross. This year marks the 125th anniversary of the running and is likely to be better than ever. We will be providing bacon rolls (alas sausages are not as easily cooked but the event name stays) and plenty of tea and coffee awaiting you for breakfast. So come down and enjoy a good old chat with friends from around 08:00 and enjoy the spectacle of veteran and vintage cars on making their way at various speeds towards a finish at Marine Parade in Brighton. The ESV will be on hand as well should you fancy some club merchandise. We would like some volunteers for car parking and other duties throughout the morning so please let me know if you can spare some time - email surrey@lotus7.club or ring me on 07894 464900 This is a very popular event every year and hopefully you will come out and support it in your droves and donate to new Club charity, Prostate Cancer Research. We ask for £10 for your breakfast, and all profit will go to the charity. In 2019 you raised almost £500 and it would be nice to soundly beat that this year. Here's hoping (probably in vain) for for a nice crisp, clear and sunny Sunday morning. Details of the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run are here: https://www.veterancarrun.com/ Our set up will be outside Handcross Primary School, B2114, London Road, Handcross, RH17 6HB with parking at Handcross Health Centre's car park, postcode RH17 6BN, just South of the School. 18. NEW FORMAT FOR CROFT AND MALLORY PARK TRACKDAYSWe are now running a Lotus Seven Club exclusive day for Lotus seven and Caterham cars only. The format of our Croft and Mallory Park trackdays has changed because we are no longer sharing these days with another club. I am regularly asked if we can run Open Pit Lane (OPL) groups for those drivers who are not novices and also if we can run more trackday’s for novices. We have therefore decided to make the most of this opportunity as follows. We will be running two groups every hour at both Croft and Mallory Park. The first group will be a 40 minute open pit lane session every hour for Intermediate and Experienced drivers. The second group will be a 20 minute session every hour for novice drivers. We will recruit additional instructors for the novice group and there will be no additional charge for this instruction. This is the first time we have had the chance to have exclusivity at these two circuits and the first time we have run this format. Tell your novice trackday friends that we are offering a great opportunity tailor made for novices. Please also tell your friends who prefer OPL that we are offering OPL all day. Go to your LoveAdmin account on our website to book. Regards Simon Maitland

  24. On Saturday 16th April I woke up very excited, as I was going on the famous Leg and Hairy Taffia Fish and Chip run, a 280 mile round trip from Chepstow (South Wales) to the promenade in Aberdyfi (West Wales coast) with the Lotus Seven Club. As I pulled the curtain back, I stared in horror at the falling snowflakes that were the size of 2 pence pieces. My house, being situated at over 1,200 ft above sea level does have its own microclimate (cold and wet usually) and so my panic subsided, I was sure it would be glorious in Chepstow. As I got my (many) layers on, it dawned on me that the A465 road closure had been rescheduled for today and it was published as part of the route! I pinged a quick message to Alan (the orgnaiser), along with a photo of the snowfall (for maximum effect) and advised that a last minute adjustment to the route would be required. I left home with the snow still falling and now settling and headed 45 minutes down the mountain to Chepstow. On route, I found out that the member who had offered me a lift in his Seven had been in an accident in the snow (he was ok thankfully) and so I just hoped someone would offer me a lift when I got there. It was pretty chilly with patchy sleet and sunshine on arrival and I headed into the pub for a quick cuppa. I was warmly welcomed and member Julian Hart came up to me, introduced himself and offered me a ride in his Seven. I was very happy to accept (but made him confirm he had a screen on his Seven first!) Julian had travelled up with 2 fellow Seveners from his local group in East Sussex and we left in convoy. We travelled up through the stunning Welsh mountains and valleys, stopping for a cuppa and cake at a garage along the way. We arrived in Aberdyfi and I couldn’t help but delight in the Sevens parked up on the seafront carpark, bonnets gleaming in the sunshine with the stunning back drop of the colourful seafront buildings behind and in front, the golden sand, estuary and ocean beyond. There was a lot of chatting and laughing in the chip shop and I had the pleasure of meeting some more club members, some travelling from as far as Europe to join this fantastic day out. The journey home was just as beautiful with every kind of weather the Wales has to offer: sunshine, wind, rain, hail and snow! Due to the A465 being shut, the diverted route excluded the amazing EVO route over Llangynidr moor. Having great knowledge of the local area because I travel these marvellous roads both on my commute to work and for pleasure on my motorbike, I thought I would treat my new friends and navigate them back to Abergavenny via this route, to which they were delighted. We got back to Abergavenny early evening and I was left happily exhausted by the adrenaline of the day. Many thanks go to Alan and the ‘Taffia’ for orgnaising the run and to Julian and his group for welcoming me and giving me a truly wonderful day!
