    Wheel Wobble

Doing the obvious wheel shake should indicate wheel bearing wear as SM25T suggests, also do the visual check on the wheel rim for 'squareness/fifty-pence piece' issues. If that all seems ok, I'd take the wheels to a different tyre fitting bay, ask them to check the balance (let them know the 'competition' balanced them already; always makes them try harder), and if they are out of balance, I'm sure the second guy won't charge you (he'll want you to come back to his bay next time!)
  2. I'm with Bob on this one; so long as the reflector hasn't corroded, some clear tape over the hole is perfect, and not a MOT failure.

    Clutch cable

Blooming typical after I bought one new from Redline last month!
  4. Skipper, I have talked to the tuning guy today, and he says there's nothing between webers or dellortos, in fact, he says you quite often get better flow through the dellortos. I'm on the look-out for a pair of 7x13 rear alloys for my dedion car, if you had some spare, maybe we could do a deal? Let me know. Cheers, Les.
  5. I'm self-employed too; I can sympathise about the lack of pay! Your pic links have indeed worked, you're much less of a techno-dud than I am, and your engine looks great! The PPC magazine car I was thinking about has the reg. no. C7 BDR; I thought possibly that was you (but obviously wrong!). Cheers, Les
  6. Right, gotcha! Any chance of some piccies of your install? Or have I seen your car already in PPC magazine? Seriously though, I'd love some pics of a 'classic/retro' engine, I'd love a BD head on top of my Xflow block; the sound is fantastic! I recently saw a Westie with a 1300cc BD engine sprinting at Harewood, it sounded like a BEC!
  7. Hiya, £150 + postage will be fine, not sure about their history; they came packaged in one of the many boxes I received when I bought my car. They look about the same condition as the webers that were on my car, if that's anything to go by. If the price is ok with you, I'll take them to my local rolling road tuner who is a carb specialist, let him check them over, and let you ring him for an impartial view, how does that sound? Cheers, Les.
  8. Nice one! Glad to hear your feet are 'up and running' too, it'd be a shame not to be able to feel a throttle pedal! Why do you describe your engine as a BD? ? Do you have any pics? Cheers, Les.
  9. I have a pair of dellorto 40's in the garage, would they be any good?
  10. If it's dedion, cross your fingers the filler plug hasn't (bi-metallic) welded itself into the casing like mine had! I've just had to remove my diff this weekend (again!) to work the filler plug out. Ended up having to remove the cover plate and then oxy-acetylene to sort it. Still, it's a lot easier to remove the diff with bolt-on output flanges!
  11. Mmmmmm, I'm very tempted! But do I really need one?
  12. In red with clams, drew lots of attention, not least from my 2 year old son who kept calling 'Daddy's car!'
  13. Yaaay! More 7's in the Lakes! (Er, know what you mean about the headlight-flashing lol!) 😳
  14. Certainly wasn't me; my car's still in bits! But I do only live about 5 miles from Aira Force!
  15. Ok, well, I've pretty much been talked into re-using the 234 anyway, it seems to be the more preferred option over the Piper. So, I'll be re-ringing the (presumably) cast pistons, and sizing the conrods, along with full balance of crank, flywheel, conrods, and clutch cover. So much for a 'quick' check-over lol! I'm down your way in a couple of weeks, so maybe give you a call and a potential beer/blat with Malcolm? Les.
  16. Dave, Hehe, sorry about that, just being cheeky I guess! Chassis-wise, the rebuild is coming on apace, indeed, if i was to take a week off, the thing would be totally finished! Had a slight rethink regarding the engine, so I'm sending it off for a full balance before i go any further. I have a choice of BCF234 Kent cam, or Piper 285 to put back into engine, and I'm curious to enquire why you're choosing the Newman?
  17. Nemo, Greatly enjoyed looking through your pics, your car looks great; I hope my own rebuild ends up with similarly well-presented example!
  18. Steve, It never ceases to amaze me how you manage to know all these weights! You're a mine of information! I'm currently rebuilding my Xflow, and have come across a slight radiator problem. My original 'large core' had a big dent in the bottom, and the core was also bashed pretty bad, but I maneged to buy a new steel rad from Fleabay for 30 quid. This was a new, unused Caterham rad, but about half the width of my original. I haven't tried this new one yet (engine still in bits), but just got a quote of 180 quid to rebuild my original unit. The question is, will this newer, slimmer, unit be adequate enough? Apologies for slight hijack!
  19. Hi Jack, I have a set of 5 Jupiter alloys, with (I'm sure), the closed nuts you're looking for. Blatmail me if you're interested. Cheers, Les.
  20. Hi Grebby, I have one of these spare for the moment, you're welcome to borrow; send me a blatmail with your address details and I'll pop it in the post. Les.
  21. Bugger! How did I miss those Toyos? How's the racing going George?
  22. Turned around motorway roundabout heading towards North Lakes hotel?
  23. Turned off the motorway roundabout heading towards truck stop.
  24. Hi Gary, no probs on the swap aspect, you can make me an offer too if you like lol! I also have a rear antiroll bar (with orange bushes), which appears to be wrong for my age of car, but I'll need to confirm this first. Cheers, Les.
