  1. Does anyone know where I can buy a duplicate connector for the inertia switch? I've decided that I don't want to move the switch inside the car, but for racing, I don't want to run the risk of it cutting out. What I want to do, is have an alternative connector, which I will simply loop a wire around, to effectively short the inertia switch. But I can't find where to get it from ... Thanks in advance, Jez Build Photos
  2. pecccl, I've no idea on drilling, but at this link link it says that it is "designed for S3 but suitable for SV/CSR". Interestingly CC have put up the price for a seat only by £25 + VAT, so the deal looks better (although they haven't, yet, changed the price of the whole kit, thus making the fixings almost free on their website). Anyway, best way to confirm would be to call CC. Jez Build Photos
  3. Having made a foam seat for racing, I now have two fibreglass caterham tillet seats available, with all fixings (sliding runner for drivers seat; aluminium boxes for passenger seat, with bolts and spacers). These ones: Fibreglass Tillets I'm looking for £500. New cost at CC would be £685. I'm in Tonbridge, Kent, for collection, or will be at all upcoming Academy events, and could bring them along for you to collect (Lydden, Sat 30th May, being the next event, followed by Anglesey towards the end of June). I will post/courier at cost, but I have no idea what that would be. The passenger seat has been used once (40 miles). Drivers seat has done about 500. There is a scratch on the drivers seat, where the shoulder buckle rubbed while it was being towed. There are scratches on the outsides of the seats, where they went in and out of the car, but these can't be seen once in place, and as far as I can tell can't be avoided (they're a tight fit into the S3). I have pictures available for anyone who is interested, including a close-up of the scratch on the drivers seat. Please Blatmail me. Process: Please dib here. In the event that there is more than one person interested, this will be the order that I take. Then blatmail me for pictures - I'll get these turned around as soon as possible. Once you've seen the pics then I'll want a commitment and we'll arrange the details. Jez Build Photos

Chris - thanks. You have blatmail. Jez Build Photos
  5. I've got a set of these that have done less than 500 miles - I've now upgraded to Mintex 1144s. They look hardly used, but will take some photos if you're interested - blatmail me. EDIT - I'm not going to get in the way of the first deal either - it's not my thread! Jez Build Photos Edited by - Z3MCJez on 13 May 2009 12:52:13
  6. If these don't get claimed, I think you might find that they were left behind after the Academy last weekend. As we're not allowed to run with them in place, there were a few being "popped out" just before we went on track. I'll ask if anyone forgot theirs, but reality is we're not going to need them again for the track season. Jez Build Photos
  7. When I got the plates for my car (which I got on t'Internet) I looked at the regs, and figured that I would probably fail for not having the postcode of the supplier on them. Seems stupid to me (mine are BS). Jez Build Photos
  8. Well, I don't accept the bet then 😳 Slightly frightening thought that it was never there. I wonder if someone, when fitting it, got the thread crossed, so that it seemed that it was fully in, when in fact it wasn't. Anyway, hope you got it sorted today. Jez Build Photos
  9. Put it on stands and take the other one out, and take it to the shop. But I bet the "lost" one is under the seat. Jez Build Photos
  10. Have you spoken to BMW, as I'd argue that the car isn't fit for purpose if you can't open and close doors all day without flattening a battery! Jez Build Photos
  11. I guess that was Andrew's car then 😬 We were sprinting at Curborough on Saturday. Jez Build Photos
  12. Further update. I've used the kit, and am reasonably happy with the quality (for what was a £250 all-in kit). Sample below: Run1 at Curborough Unfortunately, in one day, I've destroyed the TFT screen which makes using the menus as good as impossible. I don't even know how I did it The camera still works, but I can't enable direct playback on tv/computer, as I don't know where in the menu system to look. At some point I'm going to change the settings by mistake, which is going to be awkward. So, nice bit of kit, but be careful with the screen. 13. Cheeseboard - you know we can only race with red or orange, before you get done by the scrutineers! Build Photos
  14. Not interested, but it looks great. I had something almost identical in my last flat. What have you got in mind for the pine cones Jez Build Photos
  15. Quick update. I did some further research and eventually settled on a basic solid state system (I'm not looking for professional quality, just something to record my races). I called "Fast Films" who answered "DogCamSport" 😬 any they sold me the "megaclamp kit" for the Mini DVR 1. Will get it all installed in the next week or so and let you view my misdemeanours when I've got some footage 😬 Thanks for everyone's comments / advice. Jez Build Photos

    R300 CYA

It was yellow. But not standard Caterham yellow (which I've got) but a slightly darker yellow. It also had a black noseband and black tips to the cycle wings. And as it pulled away after I'd turned off, it sounded great 😬 Jez Build Photos

    R300 CYA

Looked lovely. Followed me in the tin top from Den Cross / Marsh Green area almost to Horley. Identically coloured Elise followed for a while too. Hope you didn't get sunburnt! Wish I'd been in mine, but I've only got one seat in at the moment, and was going to pick up SWMBO - I'm not sure she'd have appreciated sitting on the floor 😳 Jez Build Photos
  18. 18mths on, and I had exactly the same question 😬 This really is a great site! Jez Build Photos
  19. The Academy have been given suggested track PSI of 26-30 for CR322s. I'm running 27 front and 28 rear at the moment. If I'm out for a road blat I run about 20 cold. Jez Build Photos
  20. That was enough for me. Bit fiddly to saw off while it's in place, but managed it by unscrewing until it was touching the roll cage and then sawing off near to where it entered the thread. It's still plenty long enough to get through the full thread, and I'm not fussing about the last 100mg! Different diagonals may offer different clearances though, so check first. Jez Build Photos
  21. How do you know? (I'm guessing I know how you know ). To more helpful stuff, the Eazibleed gives (in my experience) a better bleed first time too. And it can be expecially helpful if you've got a leak (or in my case, it can identify a leak before you've filled it up), as you can hear the hissing sound (or, I guess, small bubbles, if it's previously been full). Jez Build Photos
  22. Me too, LB. Although I'm not sure that gave any "up and down" play - certainly some left to right ... Actually, I've seen a few Academy cars now with this happen. Are these bolts prone to coming loose, due to vibration and constant input? Jez Build Photos
  23. I'm new to this game, but I've got the 6-point setup. Personally, I only use the waist and shoulder straps when I'm on the road and then use the crotch straps on the track. My worry with the plugin bit is that it doesn't pull to the sides at all, and thus would put all the pressure in a rather tender area in the event of a crash. Do you need 6-point, or just 4? The crotch straps are a bit of a faff to put on (and even more so to get adjusted properly), if you want to have them properly tight (and if you don't why bother?). Jez Build Photos
  24. Well, I followed all of the information as best I could. 1) Survival bags too big. Impossible to get rid of the crumples 2) Mix it way more than you think! The second and third pours produced better foam with a much more even formula - the first pour has honeycombed a bit ... 3) The 2kg pack from Demon Tweeks is barely enough to make a whole seat / back. 4) Putting the tape on nearly takes *AGES* As I will make a passenger seat in due course, does anyone know where I can get the mix in bigger quantities than 2l at a time, at the sort of rates that look like they used to be available - the company mentioned earlier in this thread don't seem to be selling it anymore ... Jez PS No canoe moments 😬
  25. So, any tips as to what the timing is? As I'm tall, I'd rather it was too thin that too thick. Or is that going to be horribly uncomfortable? Oh, what fun I'm going to have tomorrow! 😬 Jez Build Photos
