  1. Absolutely nothing to do with the item for sale but this sounds like something you'd find in the classifieds here http://www.framleyexaminer.com Ashley Webster. 1400 Supersport

To re-build would probably be the best plan, plus you'd have the satisfaction of putting right what you had done wrong so to speak. I take it there is absolutely no chance of claiming on the insurance. V.sad to see what was a very nice car now in bits. Ashley Webster. 1400 Supersport

I'm tempted to make a bid just to stop it being turned into one of those nasty Vauxhall engined things. However I have a feeling this car is located in Majorca or Ibiza, Spain. Ashley Webster. 1400 Supersport
  6. Will give that a try, as you say it costs nothing. Oddest thing is... just been out in it again (for some Optimax) and it now insists on operating correctly if driven gently or if thrashed... it appears to be laughing at me. Ashley Webster. 1400 Supersport
  7. And so it continues.... having fitted the throttle body, IACV, and ECU water temp sensor the darn thing still won't idle. From cold it insists on running at 1600rpm even when allowed to heat up till the fan comes on, the only way to get it to idle is to turn it off and re-start then and only then do I get a 1000/1100rpm tickover but if you then take the car out and redline it or progress higher up the rev range then 1600 rpm is the order of the day once more, turn it off and back on 1000/1100. If I adjust the idle down (by twiddling the butterfly stop on the t/b) when it insists on 1600 then an idle can be achieved but if the car is turned off and on again it sits there trying not to stall doing a self blipping of the throttle (which I assume is an anti-stall thing programmed into the ECU). Only two things remain to be replaced one is the manifold pressure sensor the other is the ECU itself, both have checked out fine on a Rover test rig previously. HELP ! 8. Later last night had a fiddle about with things and looked at the whole thing from a different angle. I noticed that the throttle pedal had 'relaxed' again recently after I had obviously given it too much abuse, are they really supposed to be so soft as to be bendable by hand ? Anyway after making a few adjustments it all seems to fit ok and work better by far than the plastic version. So for now I think i'll stick with the 48mm body, which looking at it must flow better than the plastic one due to the butterfly being at least 50 percent thinner, I can always upgrade to a 52mm item later due to the re-sellability of the 48mm ones. Is there anything to note about setting the whole lot up after replacing this part, I have done the usual five prods of the throttle after powering it all up but is there anything else to add to this ? 9. Another question is should I go for a MHB000261 for a cheap 5hp power increase, questions which spring to mind are would the ECU be able to cope with this mixture wise or would I possibly be looking at the extra air throuh the t/b leaning things off by letting in too much air and burning out valves/pistons or something similar ? Ashley Webster. 1400 Supersport
  10. Well.... removed old throttle body to compare with new, all is the same except the pivot the cable attaches on the plastic one is 9pm and alu one is at 7pm meaning much slack in cable and unable to adjust out as adjuster already at max. Fitted the new t/b to test (as it appeared the garage had fitted it to something already as a test) and voila the car now idles correctly after idle screw is backed off. Will remove all and take both plastic and alu back to garage 2morrow to see if I have right part compared to their listings against my plastic one. Will also call Dellorto in Reading to see if they list the part and if so what are differences. Ashley Webster. 1400 Supersport Edited by - The_ASH on 5 Jun 2002 20:36:35
  11. I have an MHB000090 the only thing which looks uncertain about it to me is the plug size of the throttle sensor. I do not have my car with me but I am sure the one on the car is a small one ans as supplied the sensor is a larger one. Will not find out till 6pm whether or not this is true. 12. Thanks for the offer but I need to sort his tonight really as am going to Le Mans in the car next week so need to get any subsequent probs sorted (if there are any) by this weekend. The body itself is a Dellorto and has a part number on it I will find out it's true price and post all the relevant stuff on here and hopefully put a stop to some of the money grabbing by Rover. Thanks again Miraz. Ashley Webster. 1400 Supersport
  13. Anyone got any experience of doing this themselves i.e. problems incurred, setup etc etc. My car is a 1994 1.4k Supersport and has the sticky plastic orignal throttle body, I have already replaced the ECU temp sensor and IACV as part of my search for a nice slow/standard idle, so any advice about the above will be greatly recieved following todays £132 purchase !!! this brings the running total to £219 so I really would like this to be the end of it all, the Rover parts mans life depends on it ! 14. I so wish I had the garage space, and if there is one brand of car which needed to be garaged !(until someone suggested zinc coating the metal). An ideal base for a Dallara body kit, Leda suspension and a new home for an Uno turbo engine. The £500 is not a problem.... space, time and looking after the Seven are. 15. One and the same ! Including the present Seicento Abarth 15 Fiats in total, I must be mad ! For more Cento stuff look at my website http://atschool.eduweb.co.uk/ajwebster/index1.html Ashley Webster. 1400 Supersport
  16. For my sins i've owned 4 of them (a 1300 special, 2 1300 Lido's and a 1500 exactly as advertised above). I have many fond memories of these cars, indeed the only small sports car which came close to the Seven in the handling department, no power to back it up with though and oh so heavy !.
