  1. I agree, the design is a pain in the proverbial, but being stuck with it we might as well make the best of it and minimise any damage to the paint on the rims! I keep a few spare washers in my emergency spares kit just in case. The ultrasonic cleaner was about £20 from Maplins, on special offer at the time!!
  2. When this happened to mine I popped them in the ultrasonic cleaner and they came apart again. After a full clean I reused them with a trace of copper grease between the washer and the nut. I have had no problems since. I was careful to keep the grease off the contact face of the washer where it touches the wheel rim.
  3. Looking for a heater unit to fit my 2008/9 Sigma Roadsport. I understand there is a specific model for Sigma engined cars, according to the Caterham online store.
  4. These are the programming instructions in case they are any help: Toad programming instructions 04 October 2012 17:47 1. Remove the transponder from the ignition key ring 2. Disarm the system using an existing transponder tag 3. Switch the ignition on and off twice and then turn the key back on,all within 7 seconds. The LED will flash rapidly to indicate the system is now in programmed mode 4. Pass a new transponder close to the ignition barrel 5. The LED will flash once to indicate that the new transponder tag is in the memory 6. Pass any additional transponder tags close to the ignition barrel 7. For each transponder tag programmed into the system the LED will flash a number of times to indicate how many transponder tags are programmed into the system 8. When you have finished, switch the ignition off and the powerkey will exit the programme mode 9. Each time you programme a new transponder tag into the system it will automatically erase all other transponder tags in the memory, so all the transponder tags required to operate the system must be programmed back in.
  5. Start it with jump leads then drive it for 10 miles or so. On your return put it on trickle charge. I don't know the technicalities but batteries that are dead often respond to a "kick-start" and will then charge normally.
  6. I have the programming instructions as well, if you get one.
  7. I got one from here: http://www.southerncarsecurity.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&keyword=toad&category_id=0&product_id=63
  8. Quoting Rob Walker: 21mm length to underside of head. Just measured the OE ford ranger and Titan ultra light flywheels and they are both 9mm thick at the mounting flange. Therefore 12mm of thread is screwed into the Crank. Based on this you would need 29mm of thread under the head of the bolt. I cannot help you with a supplier of bolts. Edited by - Rob Walker on 17 Dec 2013 11:00:24 Thanks for that. The answer lies in Mazda bolts at 31mm, sold at $4.02 each in Australia!! Probably sold here as well as they are apparently used on the 2.0 MX5 engine which is the same family as the Duratec.
  9. Quoting Rob Walker: Ford OE flywheel bolts have only 21mm of thread What length are they under the head? They generally seem to be 25mm but the dual mass flywheel version are said to be 31mm which is probably enough.
  10. A friend has purchased a Fidanza alloy flywheel for his 2.0 Duratec. The problem is, this is 17mm thick, whilst the flywheel bolts are only 25mm. The crank flange is also 17mm and fully threaded, suggesting the need for 34mm flywheel bolts. Does anyone know if this is correct and where they can be obtained? Have drawn a blank with Fidanza, ARP and several others. One source suggested the original dual mass flywheels used 31mm bolts which may just be sufficient. Has anyone any ideas?
  11. A friend is building a Birkin in Australia, with a 2.0L Duratec. He has been recommended to fit either of the following cam set-ups, for road and sprint use, but is worried about drivability on the road. Does anyone have experience of these profiles, from Ultimate Performance, or can recommend alternatives? 1. UL39/UL40 – 12.5mm x 302 degree inlet cam, 12.0 x 294 degree exhaust cam. 2. UL46/UL47 – 13.5mm x 302 degree inlet cam, 12.7 x 294 degree exhaust cam.
  12. A good friend of mine is building a 2.0 Duratec motor in Adelaide, Australia. On examining the crankshaft he has discovered that the crank has been ground on the thrust faces and needs + 0.006". As anyone used to Duratecs will know, the centre main bearing shells come with the thrusts attached to them. He has tried all over the internet but can’t find anything other than standard. He is appealing for help and I wonder if anyone has encountered this problem and found a solution, presumably someone making shells to a specific crank grind including the thrust surfaces. Any suggestions will be gratefully received!!
  13. Quoting SM25T: I would try the simple plug in replacement flasher suggested by David above. It fits in place of the existing unit .... unplug one .... plug in the new one. But does it actually fit? It looks bigger in the photo than the one in my 2009 Roadsport. I have asked this question of the advertiser twice but he has not replied, so I assume not!
  14. Hi. I am giving them 3 days more on eBay and if they don't go they are yours!
  15. I have never paid yet but you could be right. These are good tyres with loads of life in them that I have been trying to sell or give away for a month now. Amazing!!
  16. Can't even get £10 for them on eBay ! Will be taking them to the tip this week unless somebody wants them.
  17. Does anyone know how these differ between the metric version and the imperial one? I assume dimensions and threads but would like specifics if anyone knows.
  18. Now listed on eBay starting at £50
  19. Wheels sold to CheshireCat. Tyres still available. Edited by - classic1952 on 11 Oct 2013 19:04:06
  20. Quoting Dr Slotter: I'd be interested in these, and am reasonably local so collection will be fine, but you should state a price, or at least a guide price according to the BC rules :) Sorry, I am new to this selling lark! The wheels would cost £132 each new from Caterham. I think £300 would be reasonable for the wheels. Regarding the tyres I would take £100 or best offer.
  21. 4 part worn Avon CR322 Road Tyres in the 185/70 R13 86T fitment as used in Caterham Academy. I have measured the tread depths at 6mm for 2 of the tyres, 5mm for one and 4mm for the other. They are in good condition. These failed to sell on eBay so I have relisted them starting at £25, as they are taking up garage space. Surely they are of use to someone on here!!!??? I have photos if required. These will need to be collected from North Leeds. Please contact me by email link. 22. Quoting Pendennis: you should have email Nothing yet!!
  23. eBay item 400581047566 could perhaps be adapted.
  24. Pair of cycle wing stays in good condition for 13"/14" wheels to fit 2009 metric chassis Roadsport. Edited by - classic1952 on 11 Oct 2013 12:31:05
