  1. The throttle body on my SV appears to have two possible routes for the throttle cable, giving a choice of fast or slow throttle opening. By this I mean there are 2 adjacent "pulleys", one small radius, the other large radius. Can I re-route the cable over the larger pulley to make the throttle less sensitive when driving in traffic?
  2. My SV is a 2005 with what looks like an identical all stainless system, so I assume yours is the same. Mine is a 1.8K series. If I am correct I might be interested and then get it all polished. How much do you have in mind? I am not wanting to spend much as I was intending to remove mine and get it polished in the winter, but using yours would make things easier and quicker.
  3. Everything checks out fine so far. With the current weather it is being used 3 or 4 times a week so has not stood for long. Time will tell.
  4. Thanks everyone. Busy weekend for me!
  5. Thanks I will have a look at that in the morning. It sounds promising! Cheers Greg
  6. I bought it privately. I have checked through the fuel system ad there are no leaks at all. Once started it runs perfectly. It is as if there is a non-return valve somewhere in the fuel system that is allowing it to drain back to the tank when standing. Am hoping to find someone who has suffered similar.
  7. Hi It is fuel injection -1800cc 140 bhp spec. I have only had the car for a couple of months, during which it seems to have got worse. It does seem that the fuel is draining back but not sure what might be causing it.
  8. If my Caterham has been left for a week or so it takes ages to start, as if there is no fuel. The fuel pump can be heard ticking and once it stops I need to turn the engine over for 20 seconds or so before it starts. Does anyone have any suggestions please?
  9. The model is definitely Powervamp Racing 25, leading me to think it is a few years old. The 20 hour aH is given as 18, whilst the cranking torque is 680, way below the batteries in the Odyssey spec sheet. The batter measures 180mm long by 170mm high by 80mm thick, which does not tally with any of the currently listed batteries. The latter figure might explain the slow initial cranking, which speeds up once the engine is turning. I think in all probability the battery is marginal for an 1800cc engine.
  10. Thanks. I will do that in the morning. I suspect you are right about the model.
  11. Thanks. The only info shown on the battery is as above, but I will look up the spec and do a voltage test on it. I am leaning towards a Banner battery as they were trouble free on my previous Caterham.

    Batteries

My recently bought 2005 SV with the 1800 k-series is currently fitted with a Powervamp Racing 25aH battery. My only concern is that the first turn of the engine is always very slow, even on a fresh charge, but once it is spinning it starts OK. I just wondered if this battery is really powerful enough for an 1800 engine? If not, should I revert to the usual Banner 30aH battery or a larger gel battery?
  13. Thanks for that. Have ordered the Cargo Yellow.
  14. I am on my second yellow Caterham, this time a 2005 SV. When I had my last one the consensus was that the nearest off the shelf touch up paint was Vauxhall Post Office Yellow. I just wondered if anyone has since found a closer match? I am of course aware of the little pot I can get from Caterham, but I am after something ready to use for very small paint chips.
  15. Thanks for all the info and the link. Seems to me that inertia reels are a no go area. Might pop to Stoneleigh over the weekend and try the various options before I spend anything.
  16. Thanks again! Yes, I have just found them. I think I had similar in a Westfield 30 years ago and they were so much easier to use. I think this is the answer. Cheers Greg
  17. Thank you very much, I think I understand now! It looks like the belt emerges via a slot in the bulkhead. Given the adverse comments I think I might look for a harness that is easier to get in and out of. I seem to pull a muscle every time I fasten the 3" harness, probably due to my age.
  18. Thanks for that. This is what I have been looking for but I am struggling to identify the enclosure you refer to, or the specific rivets I would need to drill out. If you have a photo handy that would be great. I assume access is via the rear bulkhead? I am hoping to keep the harnesses as well, I just want the inertia reels for short drives. I have only had the car for 3 weeks. It is my second Caterham and the extra room in the SV has prompted me to consider fitting these belts.
  19. I am thinking of fitting inertia reel belts in my 2005 SV. However, I am puzzled as to where the reels themselves actually fit. I have asked Caterham but they have not yet replied, so perhaps someone would enlighten me! Thanks
  20. Total scams. Both have been appearing for months!
  21. Three months after selling my Caterham I have finally reached the items in the garage loft! I now have the following for sale: Left hand side impact bar - Metric Chassis. This was bought new from Caterham, but due to inadequate packing it arrived scratched. After careful preparation I had it powder coated locally so it now has a far better finish than Caterham's effort. I never got round to fitting it, but it matches the offside bar as fitted to Academy cars and affords your passenger the same side impact protection as the driver for track days or continental driving. This was £168 from Caterham, plus £25 for powder coating. My asking price is £130 ono. Rear wings in black. These were taken from my 2008 car when I fitted yellow wings. There are no stone guards so there is a bit of gravel rash on the nearside along with the odd scratch. There is a very small stone spider on the offside. Looking for £60 ono Front cycle wings in Caterham Yellow These are well used wings with a few stress cracks. They have also been drilled for mudflaps. Ideal for a race car, or will clean up and take new paint. Looking for £25 ono New nosecone in Caterham Yellow This is an after market nosecone which I bought a couple of years ago. Unfortunately it arrived damaged and was replaced. The damage is confined to cracks in the fibreglass and gelcoat at the nearside rear corner. It would be an easy repair for someone with fibreglass skills. Looking for £25 ono. I can forward photos of all items if you send me your email address. All items collection only from North Leeds.
  22. I have just weighed the wheel and tyre at 13.94kg. If I can keep it under 15kg with packaging, Hermes will deliver to Newbury for just under £10.
  23. Everything now listed on eBay but still open to offers.
  24. Any more for any more? Make me an offer or it's eBay.
