  1. Wjblundell As TomB says, a couple of pictures of your diff would be helpful to a lot of people, including myself. So we can check which of the versions we have. Cheers
  2. You have to be careful as to what substances you get on the tip of the Lambda as it can destroy it. Mine came out really easy with just an open ended spanner. Lucky I guess. What symptoms are you experiencing to make you think you have a problem with the Lambda? Mine has just started to be really lumpy when starting from cold and often stalls. Runs fine when hot. I know that the ECU doesn't use the Lambda for the first 40 seconds and also continues to not use it until the engine temperature reaches 60, so it could cause my problem. My reading fluctuates around 0.45 to 0.55 up to 1.09 to 1.14, never around the 1.0. So I'm open to suggestion of what else it might be from anybody if it doesn't turn out to be the Lambda. /sites/default/files/images/users/3729/image_1.jpeg /sites/default/files/images/users/3729/image_0.jpeg /sites/default/files/images/users/3729/image.jpeg
  3. Mine is a 2011 R400 and like you I'm having possible problems with the Lambda. The numbers on mine are MHK10006 LSH 24, 0 258 003 229, 9923032, 12v. I've ordered one and awaiting delivery.
  4. Is this the black cover you talk about Aerobod? It doesn't look substantial enough to be regularly removed at every oil service. The tiny Allen key bolt looks a bit delicate as well, especially into alloy. I'm guessing there's a rubber o ring behind the plate and do you fit a new one fitted each time. Do you remove any of the dry sump hoses to get that little bit more of the old oil out? /sites/default/files/images/users/3729/medium_image.jpg
  5. I have these for sale which are out of a R400 (4500 miles) Asking for £700 /sites/default/files/images/users/3729/Seats1.jpg
  6. Very interesting. How did you find out that you had a Titan LSD fitted as opposed to another? So when you initially changed to Redline 75w90 GL5 and then to 75w140 GL5, how did each of those compare to the original oil on a scale of 1 to 10 on clunking and overrun noise? ( 1 being your original noises ) Would you stick with the 140 if you had to change it again? Cheers.
  7. R400D has done 5k miles. Checking the diff oil level and some oil drained out. I expected it to be fairly clear/yellow but it was quite dark and cloudy. Has anyone else come across this at such low mileage? I shall replace the oil anyway but whereas the vast majority of people swear by MTL / MT90 for the 6 speed box, is there the same strength of feeling as to what brand of oil to put in the BMW LSD diff? Caterham recommend 80w/90 GL5 for LSD I take it I don't have to put in any Lubeguard in if I go for say a LS80w/90 Comma oil or any oil specifically for an LSD? Is it important that I know which type of LSD has been fitted in order for me to choose the correct oil? Does anybody know what's fitted to a 2011 R400D? Do all BMW LSD have the same type fitted? I thinks that's enough questions for now! Cheers.
  8. I had the same concern with the GL5 being recommended in a 6 speed box so I contacted CC South. Tony the parts manager (been with Caterham 25 years) said thank you for pointing that out. Yes it should be GL4 EP75w/90 and not the GL5 stated. The BMW LSD oil is correctly stated as LS80w/90 GL5. He also emailed Technical at Dartford to confirm that this is correct. It will be amended in future owners hand books
  9. Car jacked up and out of gear. Spin any one wheel causes the other one to remain stationary, it doesn't move. (Brakes not binding) car jacked up and in gear - will check when I can.
  10. Definitely LSD. Tested in the garage with two black lines as a result. Cheers all.
  11. I've changed the oil on my old Sigma several times and never changed the rubber o-ring. Not a drip! You can't crush the rubber washer by overtigtening because it's in a recess. So unless it's damaged then it should be ok to use again.
  12. I've got a BMW diff and the sales info said it had a LSD. On the diff it says LSD 3.64. So everything suggests I have an LSD. I thought that if you jacked up the rear of the car and spun one wheel, the other would spin in the same direction confirming an LSD. Whilst spinning, the other wheel stays stationary. Can someone confirm that this is what should happen. I know I could see if I leave two black tyre marks down the road but though I'd ask.
  13. I think my R400D the same. I just happened to check the voltage at the battery on tickover and I think it read just over 12 volts, as you say not enough to charge the battery. Revving it brings it up to the voltage you'd expect, 14.1v I think. I'll double check this weekend.
  14. It does drop to site zero. It seems to go zero, 0.5, 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, 1.7 etc in odd jumps. I don't think the TPS is moveable, the two screws hold the TPS on only. If you loosen the two screws it doesn't move. Is the 1.05 a typo? Do you mean 1.5, it seems to increment as above.
  15. So unless CC divulge the actual setting we'll never know the site information I presume? I've just downloaded the latest Easimap version R50. It doesn't have anywhere near the amount of option to monitor as the old version R33 I think. Which version do you have? Easimap picks up 992ab94p Mine is a Plenum on 38L036A
  16. Just had a spare 20 mins. With Easimap connected my sites run from 1.0 to 15.1 with a voltage of 1.22 volts to 4.69 volts ( plenty of slack in the throttle cable ) ECU is a 38L036A ser 00052346. I see there is a later one on the Caterham website 30L153A
  17. Not too familiar with the sites. I'm guessing that this is where a given site tells the ECU to change the fuel ratio/level, timing etc? My tickover is quite good for most of the time but on the odd occasion will hunt around a bit, but not to the extent of stalling. CC South told me to start the car without touching the throttle because the TPS is set/learnt each time the car is started. This does seem to work but I'm finding it difficult to get out of the habit of not blipping the throttle a little. I take it the 992 number is marked on the ECU itself, I'll have a look to see if it's the same one, should be I hope. I'll have a play this coming Saturday and compare reading with yours. I take it you too are not sure of what TPS voltage should be at a given tickover?
  18. I've got an Easimap usb-can comms interface number 985 which I used on my old Sigma 150. (Now sold) Question. Is this compatible with a 2011 R400D standard set-up? If it is, does anyone know the TPS voltage and at what tick over? Or indeed any other official settings applicable to the above car. I've just had the car so I'm trying to gather general information about it. Cheers
  19. I bought some rally mud flaps off EBay and shaped them to what I thought looked good. I'd rather not have these on but wanted to protect the rear arches. I've had them on for a couple of years and they seem to work well.
  20. No interest so far. What do people think of the price?

  22. Thanks Mankee for the offer. I already have the spacers, it was just the longer bolts I needed because I need to raise the rack a little further. I've found some M6 bolts on EBay and have ordered some. thanks all.
