  1. Nowt To Do With Me, but I know there's more than a couple of Audi owners on here... BTCC racer Rob Austin appears to be building a new A4 race car so there's quite a lot of a car for sale. Copied from his Facebook feed: "So if anyone is interested in any parts for a Audi A4 B8 2.0T then please email raraudibits@outlook.com "We have broken a complete car and other than the parts we require (Shell, Lights, Bonnet, wings, boot, doors, and Grille) its all available to purchase." 2. Thanks both. I suspect it'll need some oxted intervention, the plastic's also cracking in places. ☹️ Shame they're such a long way away!

Our 2005 K has intermittent wipe... Flick switch on, wipe once, flick switch off. Wait a bit. Flick switch on, wipe once, flick switch off... 😬
  4. No problem. To be honest the seat in the designed "full forward" location is about right for Mrs H in terms of steering wheel reach, so the combination of that and the moved clutch pedal will I think be fine. Worth knowing that extra adjustment can be had without additional holes in the floor though, thanks!
  5. 😬 Now it moves, there's a goodly chance it'll move most times the car goes out, so it should stay free through use. Or at least we'll know fairly rapidly when it gets gunked.
  6. Update: Thanks for the various suggestions, now sorted... Took the driver's seat off the runners and with an amount of poking, stiff brushing, injected lubricant and brute force, the seat now gets full travel forward, which is further than it previously did and was *nearly* enough just in itself. Then experimented with the pedal locations; after a bit of playing we've extended the clutch cable outer about 1/4" (by winding the nuts up the adjuster thread); this has pulled the clutch pedal face about an inch closer to the driver's seat. That's still OK for me and appears fine for Mrs H. Just need a test drive to be 100% confident it's "right". (edited for inability to type!) 7. Quoting Steve Newman: The runner get gunge with grit that lands in the car. Just need a good clean. Correct! Took the driver's seat off the runners yesterday (minor issue of one the centre rivnut spinning in the left runner, but got around that!) and with an amount of, poking, stiff brushing, injected lubricant and brute force, delighted to say the seat now gets full travel fore and aft.
  8. Gone back and looked at the video and it appears to be an S3, with black pack and FIA bar, exhaust on passenger side. Can see why my neighbour thought it might have been us! Can't make out the plate, unfortunately, possibly starts with a C but in the low light the video is too blurred to be sure.
  9. You were heading towards Castleton along the Hope Valley as we headed for Sheffield. You did give us a cheery wave (silver SV with black stripes) but I was talking to my first-time passenger as we yawned along at 28.5mph in tedious traffic (in the 40 zone) so by the time I realised, you'd pretty much gone past. Sorry, wasn't meaning to be rude!! Then as a proxy spot, we got home and our next door neighbour asked if we'd been out at Fox House because they'd seen a car that looked like ours "but maybe a bit different, with a yellow '7' in the grille", so we guessed they'd seen you too.
  10. Mankee, have sent blatmail with link to pics on google drive. And some ramblings.
  11. Hi Mankee, Pretty sure I can sort you the cycle wings. I'll post back with pics after I've checked the box in the garage. I also have a pair of the red/orange rear lenses if all else fails (along with about a zillion other people who've recently swapped to clears or the red/clears, no doubt!!) 12. Quoting Martin Jeffrey: Basic question....how do you know when they need replacing? I assume check for play? On mine it was, notice the steering was getting stiffer / heavier, and occasionally creaking.
  13. Quoting Eugene: My near-side one got flagged in its MOT the other day - hence this thread... It has done about 15K I guess... Seems about fair. Mine just died; from some educated guesswork I'm pretty sure it is about 15,000 miles since the previous front suspension fettle (done by the previous owner hence the vaguery). We do use our Seven all year though - less in the winter of course, but still a little when the weather is OK.
  14. Lollety chortle at the timing! One of mine went all a bit disintegrated just 11 days ago and I have just had them both replaced... A pair (ideally plus circlips) please. PS. Would this be better in 'bulk buys'?
  15. Quoting Al7: [pQuote]Cheapest upgrade, eventually locating & taping over the end of the indicator buzzer as the BEEP BEEP really was just too loud. I've spent ages trying to find this elusive thing - where is it? Al, ours just sort of dangles behind the dash, just to the left of the steering column. But then ours wheezes like an asthmatic hamster locked in a soundproofed room, so this may be due to a previous owner digging it out and filling it with glue....
  16. *Not* CaterBram. S3, with red nose, wings and arches, plain ally everything else, black non-FIA bar. Just came down Stannington Road and into Hollins Lane, about 3 minutes ago.
  17. Speaking of mirrors, taking ours off the wobbly mounts on the wobbly doors and fitting Racetechs direct to the not-wobbly stanchions made a big difference too!
  18. My seats (2005 SV, leather) are a bit tired all round. Firstly, the runners are pretty stiff, making fore/aft adjustment difficult. Are the runners at all serviceable, e.g. if I take the seats out can they may rebuilt, greased, etc? Or will I just wind up with bits of knackered runner all over the place and wind up buying new ones anyway? Second, the seats and headrests need restuffing, if possible (the frames are pushing on the underside of the leather in places). Any recommendations, ideally in the South/West Yorkshire or Derbyshire area, gratefully received. Trying to avoid having to buy new seats if possible...
  19. Moving the indicator repeaters from the cycle wings (where the wires and fittings were already life-expired) into the headlamp bowls. I can now see, from the cockpit, that I've left the indicators on...* *And more importantly, turn them off!
  20. Ah, indeed! I've always understood that aerodynamic lift (up or down) comes at the expense of drag. Willing to be proved wrong, of course, but I'd equally happily settle for a reduction in drag and lift!
  21. To be fair, the OP said the wings reduced lift, not that they generated downforce.
  22. I'm certainly curious, dependent on appearance and cost. As per myothercarsa2cv - any pics?
  23. Thanks Simon - I have an expert arriving in about 5 minutes to take a look before removing the car to his workshop for repair. Thanks also SM25T and Gundersen re the seat move, that's on hold just now of course!
  24. Thanks both. It needs a bit more movement than is available from moving the pedals, but today we found that what we think of as "fully forward" is not as far forward as Al's (newer, metric) SV seat will go. So first job is to find out whether ours will actually go further forwards with the application of enough lubrication and force. No, actually, the *first* job is to rebuild the front suspension after today's catastrophic failure of a lower spherical bearing...
