After nearly 13k miles I decided to change all 4 tyres (195x45x15) although there was still around 2.5mm tread left and wear bars still not showing. They had been swapped front to back once and always run at 18psi, nearly all miles on roads. (2 year old Sigma SV, built myself)
When the tyres came off the front the fitter showed me that the inside tyre wall was split in many places, 1 of the 2 fronts slightly more than other. Neither of the back had splits. These tended to be around the circumference, inside face only and roughly half way between the rim and the tread.
I had looked at these tyres only a couple of hundred miles ago and could see nothing wrong, it was only when it was deflated could the splits be visible. Needless to say the old fronts have been binned!
Good to be running on a new set, what a difference.
Anyone else had similar experience of the walls splitting?
