  1. I had one finger break and lost any clutch actuation, admittedly sometimes it grabbed. But I suspect the slave must travel off centre further and become inoperative. Also if the slave fails they generally leak so if there's no fluid coming from the bell housing/engine joint I suspect your okay. It does sound like your fluid is in a bad way, also seems like your m/c isn't in good shape either, fingers crossed that's the problem

  2. Doubt you have air, maybe moisture contamination which happens over time.

No John, bear in mind it would be very difficult to notice the reservoir fluid level drop on a perfectly operating master cylinder. I am not saying your seals are not the problem but you would not see the level drop whether they have failed or not. I hope it's not a broken clutch cover finger but reading your initial post that's what I put my money on, hope I am wrong though. All the best.

  3. Mark, I have done this myself in the past and I suspect you may have some moisture content in the fluid causing it to boil thus its vented itself. If it was me I would flush new fluid through, very easy and doesn't take long or much fluid. But only use NEW fluid.

ps. I don't use an AP race cap on my clutch master cylinder.

  4. Have a set of Avon ZZR tyres for sale £180.00 ( prov sold)

I bought them from Caterham in late June 2014, since then they have done approximately 3.5 hours of track use resulting in 4 heat cycles.

    Fronts are 185 x 55 x 13 these have 3 to 4mm tread remaining

    Rears are 215 x 55 x 13 these have 3 to 4mm tread remaining

    So tyres have little wear.

These are still on the car at the moment, awaiting delivery of a new set.

  5. Mark, I have 2 pots on rear and the only way to get air out is remove the calipers from the ears and raise them above the master cylinder, ensuring there's a piece of wood between pads acting as a disc. With the calipers up higher than the reservoir I got all the air pushed out.

    Hope that helps.

  6. If anyone is into appreciating classic cars then my Mercedes SL300 24V maybe of interest.

Silver, 1991, 145k miles full Mercedes service history, recent MOT drives well, engine is great, new suspension upper strutt mount, brakes refreshed, new plugs, HT leads, electronic ignition overhaul, new crank sensor, distributor cap, Central locking vacuum pump replaced and leaks repaired, locks overhauled, some other new parts. In good condition, interior is superb, everything works but roof frame mechanism needs realigning following removal of hardtop as it catches on back left corner when trying to open and I cannot be bothered to do it so if someone wants this great car for £2500.00 please ring or email me.

  7. Hi all, I bought one of these for my high power Duratec but to be honest it does struggle with the very high compression my engine has got. So i have removed it and offer it you with much discount. It will suit a low powered K more than a high powered D. It is model YTX14-BS 12V 4Ah HJX14. It weighs less than 1kg, yes it does!

    £50.00

Sorry I do not know how to show link to product, the new website will not allow me

  8. My previous Cat was a 97 SLR and that had different calipers to what I have now. I've just gone back through my paperwork and that had CP2340 calipers. Blimey what a mind field!

Simon, occasionally on a hot day during a long race I have overheated my rear brakes, without going vented on the rear is there a pad that would help ?

    Note currently use Ds2500
