my other half is selling her Mk 2 MR2. It is a really nice bit of kit, being the import turbo it goes quite keenly! 76something thousand miles. It is in the rare yellow finish. T-top. Leather. Cruise. Aircon. Radio/cd. serviced by toyota over the 3 and a half years she has had it. seen in Surrey. MOT. Tax. A few blemishes as you might expect but a great enthusiasts car and DEAD CHEAP! at two thousand pounds. OK, I'll knock a couple of hundred pounds off it if necessary, i need the space for another se.... oops almost said it.... £1500 ??? CoSwoRth it! CSR diff

Hi all you respondants Thanks!! Paul, it is not a LSD. Also, due to your (i think) thread on BC I have been careful to install handbrake cable early on: also, as a bit of advice to anyone alse building one ( if there is anyone), take the tank out and drill out the pop rivets on the boot floor panel behind the tank (and replace with rivnuts) then you can play with the diff, suspension and hand brake adjusters to hearts content without too much hassle. Actually, enjoying the build and it feels good to be one of "the few". CoSwoRth it!

    CSR diff

I am building a CSR 260. One of the first things in was the diff, quite a struggle as it is a tight fit. Rear suspension assembled, nearside halfshaft in, a little play at the diff. Offside halfshaft in which turns much more smoothly but n/s now locks up after half a turn. Decided to take it all apart and took diff out to return to Caterham but, a prior phone call to their tech dept gave the reply to my question "what should I do?" as "put it back, they all do that! We don't know why but, when you power it up it will free itself" Now it has been a hastle getting it in and out and I dont want to pursue this build any further until I feel happier. Although I trust CC tech I would like a few more observations or previous assemblers opinions. Incidentally, is it due to problems like this that they no longer offer this CSR as a kit?? CoSwoRth it! 17. any idea what post and pack would be for the 33 / 303 ? CoSwoRth every penny! Edited by - Caesar on 8 Feb 2006 10:13:48
  18. I am taking all this "on board". I had some difficulty with the half shaft fitting (due to spacer washer being omitted), the hub didn't want to pull up. This makes me a little concerned about the whole assy, especially as I have a rather concerning "klonk" on each revolution of the wheel, this might be coming from the diff and the noise transmitted but could be from the hub. (incidentally, I have only fitted the nearside). Guess I'll have to pull it all apart again! CoSwoRth every penny!
  19. Just filled the calipers and discs to the rear of CRS kit (currently under leisurely construction). There is about a 1.5 mm run-out of the disc on a 360 revolution of the wheel as seen between the jaws of the caliper. Is this acceptable? I would rather ask BC in this instance; CC have been more than helpful with all other queries but I feel that their reply may be a little biased! CoSwoRth every penny!

    hot CSR!

Thanks Robin, that's just what I will do. And, in my big-headed way, when I think their fix is not enough, I may well bring my demon plan B into play: namely, 1. cut removable and replacable holes in the air deflector to allow for a little more engine bay cooling and, 2, (where I think the main problem is) cut some vent holes in the plate with the prop shaft hole at the end of the gearbox cavity; with a little tweaking, this could allow air to exit at this point underneath. I guess this is why I actually enjoy this so much: what is life without a challenge!! CoSwoRth every penny!

    hot CSR!

A thread is running on Chit-Chat re heat transmission on CSR. I am just about to drop the engine in, anyone used this here?? CoSwoRth every penny!
  25. This all sounds brilliant especially as I am on a build at the moment, but, will the heatshrink actually resist stones, the track rods get quite a pounding and I guess when it starts to peel it will look pretty bad. Hope to hear in the positive as I really want to keep everything neat! CoSwoRth every penny!
