  1. It hasn't looked that clean since. Neither has the kitchen! Is your wife now talking to you again?
  2. For the first 500 miles my CSR ate up about 0.5L of mineral oil. For the next 900 miles it has run on Castrol semi-synthetic, had two hard track days, and seemingly only gone through 0.2L. I keep topping up but it is being spit out into the catch tank so it must have found the right level. Probably wasted the other 0.8L in the catch tank!
  3. Tom - You already have one pic online at USA7s that shows what you did quite nicely in a good humored way! I love this pic! http://www.usa7s.com/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=3362&stc=1&thumb=1&d=1312785048 Edited by - Croc on 9 Aug 2011 23:18:07
  4. Hi Angus! Hope the UK is treating you well! If you still have the race screen then drop it in the luggage and bring it on back. I am sure I can work out a way to put it on backwards! 😬 We need to catch up for beers when you get back. I think I might show you how to drink like a kiwi this time instead of being threatened by cougars out on the prowl for eligble any men.
  5. Quoting Andrew Walker: Caterham never fitted the Zetec here in the UK, but their North American cars were fitted with the Zetec engine. The Zetec was a great choice for the seven and still is. Same side exhaust as the cross flow. Fairly bullet proof. For my former seven I had the ST170 zetec in a standard trim so it could be OBDII plugged in for state emissions testings and it was perfectly reliable. Just always ran happily and never missed a beat. No hot footwell issues like my current duratec. With a few well chosen extras it was easy to get into the 200-220hp range and still be reliable. Lots of seveners run it in the US without an issue. Easy and cheap parts too. Edited by - Croc on 15 Jul 2011 13:12:31
  6. Ooooh....now I am torn. I like the idea of blackpacked brooklands and the photo of the perspex race screens looks nicely minimalist too. Its so much fun working out how to spend money on a seven
  7. Quoting Glasgow: have you thought about brooklands? It is on my shopping list... Yes I did think about it briefly but moved away from it quickly once I realized I have a CSR with black pack so needed to fabricate a support bracket and then black powder coat all the nice shiny stuff. Seemed a waste to go that way. Quoting BenF: I was happy to pick up a second hand RiF screen (that's Carbon-Bits). Is Carbon Bits a reliable easy-to-deal-with supplier these days under new owners? Ordering from the US adds an extra layer of potential problems? [p/Quote=jonboylaw] Caterham perspex race screens, the only way to go Now thats an idea I had not thought of ....still need to work out mirrors... 8. I know this is covered to death already but I got lost in the many aeroscreen threads I pulled up from search... I tried a carbon aeroscreened R300 out at Silverstone last month and just 🥰 the way it felt responsive at higher speeds without the drag of a windscreen. However, which one do I pick - there is Caterham interchangeable one, CarbonMods, Fluke, MOG, and probably others? Are they all as good as each other? For mounting, are there any that allow nice, easy and quick changeover by me alone from a windscreen? E.g. Mirrors mounted on the aeroscreen rather than drilling the scuttle? Center just clips onto tonneau poppers? Uses existing windscreen stanchion holes? Photos probably would help. I do have the captive nut brackets as I installed these on my recent build. Many thanks in advance for your input and assistance sorting out my confusion.
  9. Slightly late. On Monday I was at the Goldtrack Silverstone track day. Three sevens spotted: 1. J7 F## - Never saw the owner around but he was faster than me on the track! Also lost his front driverside wing at one point - hope you got it back. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/june%202011/DSC00725.jpg 2. In pit garage 9C - never had a chance to chat with the owner. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/june%202011/DSC00742.jpg 3. A K-engined orange and black superlight. No pic but chatted with the owner (forgot his name )
  10. 😬 😬 😬 There are no rumors - I bought a nice shiny Vio POS HD thingy to install on my seven. I plan to face it forward as I lap Miss Daisy...errr.....Tom again and again. Mind you, I will be on CR500s and not slicks like everyone else so I will be giving up at least 4 seconds a lap to the others. I have to believe that this will be (or close to) the most sevens ever on a track at one time in the USA? Videos, pics and write-ups definitely planned. I promise to even include any spins made by me. 😬
  11. I don't believe it. You're just trying to show off in front of all the other sevens at the track day on June 27/28! 😬 Maybe put it on the front so we can all see it better when you spin midcorner?
  12. Speaking of media tarts try pages 38 to 41. Certainly brightened up my morning!
  13. In my just sold seven, I had the racetech dual oil pressure/oil temp gauge. I already had a separate water temp gauge. I was plumbling it to an ST170 so the fittings will all be different for you. I initially had installed the equivalent Mocal gauge which ended up being faulty, returned and replaced it with the Racetech version. I chose Racetech over the stack as it fit in better with the standard Caterham gauges and I was not keen in replacing every gauge so they look identical. Worked well and no issues and gave me piece of mind.
  14. Thanks for the compliments Paul. I have to admit I was wrong about the CSR - I thought it would be all about the engine but it is not. I am a very happy driver and cannot see myself changing for a long time. Your suggestion is perfect - I bought the clear indicator cones, just have not found time to change them over or check if I am allowed to...they may just accidentally fall on to the car while I was not looking... First track day is late June with a bunch of seveners at New Jersey Motorsport Park. We are trying for a four way comparison of an R500, an de-dion SV with the 260 Cosworth Duractec, a very warm K series Superlight, and my CSR. Should be interesting. 😬 Good luck with your set up session.
  15. Mine was just set up recently. Link to the set up specs for my car compared with what Caterham recommended: USA7s posting on CSR Superlight suspension settings
  16. +1 for mirrorsforsevens. After some practice I have done away with the Spa side mirrors completely. Mirror is not tinted and I do not have any glare issues at night. Edited by - Croc on 30 Jan 2011 14:04:07
