@BigCol may I ask why? Was it only weight saving?

Banner —> Odyssey was (sort of) like-for-like but latter had a better reputation for longevity and being AGM, could be mounted on its side and I think was a tad lighter.

Odyssey —> LiFePO4, yes - weight-saving though neither of the previous batteries had lasted a particularly long time (four and five years respectively from memory) so wasn’t motivated to go back to either.

…basically don't expect the local constabulary (even traffic/RPU) to have any knowledge of the law here at all…

or in my case, the testers themselves; one of my IVA failure points was due to a mis-interpretation of the regs by the tester!

To be fair, he accepted my subsequent email with *my* interpretation!

Is there much work required to put in the low level light and adjusting it accordingly?

I suspect I used a unit similar to this (can’t see far enough back in my eBay purchase history to confirm).

Two wires simply piggy-back onto the gauge with the other two are for the LED which I mounted in line-of-sight on the dashboard.  There is a simple potentiometer that adjusts when the LED lights.

  4. As above… have modded my gauge with extra resistors to aid accuracy and when my third party low-level light comes on, I can put about 32 litres in.  So once lit, I have ~4 litres/30 miles before I get to the unusable bit (~36l of the 41l tank)

I’ve registered my email address on the ”let me know when back in stock” part of the website for the long nose shower cap… is this one of the things that you’re able to order even though it says “out of stock”?

I think Soft Bits are that busy that they make stuff to order and so don’t have stock as such…

Did you have to bend anything to get it on the shaft? If so, what, where & how much bend

Advice is to squeeze… I didn’t - just put it on the end of the selector and offered them up into place as a sub-assembly and then did up the three bolts.

I've had a bronze saddle from Burton. Was fine and clipped gently into place.

Think they’re all made by Steve. 🤔

Probably should have pointed out their 13"x6" wheels.

Should be OK then - weights should be able to go wherever… as above, it’s on 8” wheels that the weights can foul the DingDiog ears.

Where do you crimp it? is it where it clips over the shaft?

Does the brass one have 2 pairs of lugs or is it one long gutter shape

How much do you crimp it?

    Should it still move freely??

Can you slacken it if over crimped???

The plastic one that broke was 22 years old was never greased but I greased the new one

    THANKSSaddle.emlSaddle.eml

I didn’t crimp mine…. I put the saddle on the shifter and offered the assembly up and dropped it into place.

I also didn’t grease the saddle (in retrospect I should’ve but I did spray a bit of GT85 PTFE lube on the various bits so hope will be slippery enough).

The brass bush has the same lumps and bumps as the plastic one and other than its material is indistinguishable (to me 🤷🏻‍♂️)

  9. I fitted the Quaife quickshift unit over winter together with a bronze saddle bush (and the bellows as detailed in the Tech Guide mentioned by the OP).

I got the bush from Steve Perks (he of TracSport fame) who I believe manufactures them.

All went together splendidly (though as a new unit, I didn’t dismantle the shifter!)

Thanks: I wanted to include those but couldn't find the discussion in the forum.

I knew John made them so found the picture in his website… not sure if they have been discussed here!
