  1. Thanks for that. Three are fine at 180,170,165 but the number 4 is just 145 with 30% leakage from the inlet valve. So I think I need the head off and take a look
  2. What should the compressions in psi be for Cross Flow Super Sprints ? Standard cam I think. The to and from if poss. Thx
  3. Personally I think the self adhesive velcro is the best route and have done that with mine too. Not cheating at all cos if you or a new owner decide to change you don't have any residual holes to deal with. Much more sensible
  4. I assume the 225s are on 8" rims ? Would be nice to see a pic of the rear if anyone has one with 225s. I have R888Rs which I like but run 205/60-13s on the rear. Thx
  5. I'm planning to weather permitting. Happy to help if help is needed...
  6. Don't know if this is the right place for this but there's a big meeting in Chepstow anyone close may be interested. I'm certainly going, so it would be nice to meet up with some others. More details here: https://www.swclassiccarclub.co.uk/
  7. Thanks so much for the link. It was a great read and puts a lot into perspective. In my case however, if/when I upgrade I think I'll simply swap cars to one that's already done. That said, I'm off to the rolling road and expertise of Dave Griffiths at Interpro in South Gloucestershire in late April and I'll see what he says. And at the moment I'm having so much fun in the 7 that she'll probably stay as is for this year at least, excepting a little fettling by Dave. The one thing that comes across in your article however that I've noticed immediately on joining the club is what a mine of information there is on here and how forthcoming everyone is. I've even met a neighbour who has a 7 (R300 Superlight) and though we've lived close by for nine years I didn't have a clue. Thanks again and I hope you're still getting enjoyment from your 7.
  8. Please do report back. And take some pix of the process. It'll be interesting to see how you get on. BOL
  9. Worth the effort if you like aluminium. Certainly couldn't be described as hard work. More a labour of love. And not much labour at that
  10. The car I've just bought is mainly ali with painted nose cone and wings. When I got her there were bits not well enough polished in my view so I armed myself with some Autosol and that really did the trick. She has come up beautifully and I love the look of the car. I'll take some pics later. As I believe you can ceramic coat ali I'll probably do that too as I have loads of Gyeon Q2 Pure left over from my last car. And that worked brilliantly.
  11. Thanks for the suggestion and I've thought about going to Millwoods and will do at some stage. It's just I know Williams a bit already and it was a test drive of one of their cars that nailed my decision to buy one. Not from them as it happens. But they came across as really nice people. prior to that I'd also come across them when I had a 911 and the local porker club met up there. They put on a great day for us and I was impressed. That said their service department may be rubbish of course lol. But I'll give them the opportunity to shine first. My next thought on the immobiliser front is not to remove it but to see if I can replace the need for the fob controller with a simple switch under the dash. This would allow me to use the immobiliser but without the faffing about with the fob. I don't know enough about the system to know if that's doable...
  12. Another q for all the experts on here. I'm considering buying some 7" Superlight wheels for the rear of my car that has an Ital live axle. They come with an offset of -7 ET. Does anyone know if 205 tyres will fit OK under the wing. I'm assuming they will but I just wanted to check as the photo of the wheel seems to show quite a distance between the outer bead and the hub. Thanks
  13. LOL, I've already done that a few times. It's doable but a pain, so now I always put the key in before getting in. It's interesting how I'm having to unlearn so many things that have become habits with 'normal' cars...
  14. I've booked the car in with Dave Griffiths at Interpro to look at the engine to make sure everything is fine and dandy with the engine and that's it's producing the best it can in it's current configuration. We'll then discuss what the possibilities are for upgrading if he thinks that's a good idea. I'm also going to book the car in at Williams Caterham to have the immobiliser removed. It's a complete pain in the arse as it's sometimes reluctant to let me turn the car over and I'm worried that it may give up the ghost entirely one day and leave me stranded somewhere like many others have done in the past to other Caterham owners. I've also bought some Toyo R888R tyres all round and will pick up and fit them next week. The fronts will remain 185/60/13 but the rears will widen to 205/60/13.
  15. Actually I've decided to book the car in to Williams Caterham my local garage to just remove the immobiliser, so thanks for the help...
  16. Yes of course that's always an option. Can you point me in the direction of a site or instructions as to how I would do that ? I'm not used to this technology lol...
  17. LOL, yes with the feedback I've been reading I think I'll look into swapping it for something more reliable. Anyone got any tips on that score ?
  18. That's great. Thanks. Attached is a pic of mine. Hope it makes sense
  19. I have a 1995 Super Sprint. It has an immobiliser and two key fobs. On each fob there are two buttons, one that has a pattern on it and a lower one which is smooth. I've changed batteries on both. In the car's parked state the dash lights flash quickly at about 5/second. I would have thought an armed state would be around 1 or 2/sec but I'm not used to these ones. Anyway, most of the time when I press the top (patterned) button for about 3 secs the light goes out and the car starts fine. However, sometimes when I press the button even for 10 secs or longer bugger all happens, the lights continue to flash quickly and I can't get any action when I turn the key to try to start. Then all of a sudden when I press the button as normal the light goes out. This morning it took a good five minutes to get any joy at all and I can't find out anything about this immobiliser what so ever. Hence my need of help because the last thing I want is to drive somewhere and then not be able to get the car started. Like a few other people have experienced I have found. Yet another little niggle that Caterham really should have dealt with by now.... BTW, the fob has a Vecta sticker on it So, any advice would be great....thanks
  20. It would appear my search has come up trumps. Great stuff
  21. Just got my car booked in to an xflow expert in north Bristol for April and in his opinion getting my car to 140-145bhp would be significantly easier and cheaper than trying for 150 as the extra 5bhp has ramification which mean a much higher cost. He estimates my car is currently probably closer to 120bhp than 135.... Anyway, I'll see on the 25th April what his rolling road analysis and compression tests come up with. Exciting
  22. And if you also have a pair of 185/60/13 I'd be interested in those too
  23. Thanks for that. I'm having the car put on a rolling road and tuned by a Ford expert next month so I'll be able to ask all these questions and get his advice then but it's great getting all this info so quickly on this forum. There's obviously a great knowledge base to tap out there. Locationwise I'm about ten miles south of Bristol in North Somerset
