  1. I've had a look at the PT site and their other cars and frankly many of them look a bit tatty and poorly presented internally and engine wise. For me that's a not a great sign. My own view is go and have a look and get a general vibe of the place. I always think the car will speak to you once you sit in it as will the dealership in general. But dealers who are happy to present and take photos of their cars that have obviously not been prepared well are to be avoided imo...
  2. Got the new variant today, so thanks for that. Looks great. Can't wait till I'm able to fit it. That's down to the car being released by the workshop doing my valves. I'll update when I can..
  3. Such great advice guys. Thanks very much. I'll speak to the workshop on Tuesday re the suggestions...
  4. I'm having a Caterham workshop take my 1700 cross flow head off to look at some remedial work that needs doing on a leaking inlet valve. What should I be thinking of doing while the head is off that doesn't involve any major cost but that would be good to do for both longevity and power ? All suggestions welcome. Thanks
  5. Pistonheads or ask to do a deal with a dealer like Williams or Millwoods as I'm sure they'll have a waiting list of people looking. As it's pretty rare you should be able to strike a very good deal. Depends if you want to maximise your return or minimise the sales period (probably both I'd imagine ). Either way I doubt you'll have any issues as she looks lovely. I'd buy her if I had the spare cash
  6. I'll take the tunnel bag if still available.
  7. That's great. Thanks so much as it makes a huge difference... As an aside, if you get the positive feedback that I suspect you will from other users perhaps you should think of approaching Caterham Cars to offer these as an optional extra for their new cars. Why this should be necessary however is beyond me. This heel and toeing has been an issue on Caterhams for years so why Caterham haven't re-designed the loud pedal to take it into account god knows. Caterhams are bought by people who like proper driving, many of which are encouraged to race them in Caterham's own race series. Heel and toeing is an important factor in fast driving. Surely this must have been considered at some stage by some exec or designer at Caterham ?
  8. Sadly my modified and glued one came apart today...a reflection of my gluing skills rather than the printing...
  9. I normally get my 3D prints done by Materialise, as I need high resolution, but haven't done one for a couple of years so have lost touch with home printers. I just came across this one which seems absolutely brilliant: https://phrozen3d.com/pages/mighty-8k-preorder-8k-resolution-maximized-productivity#page-section-d7bb06d5-3ed8-41b5-a54a-b9dbb6cbbd1a A resin 8K printer for just around £650. The review on YT here is awesome: I might just get back into printing again....
  10. If you haven't already printed this perhaps I can suggest a slight mod. Although it's not clear from my pic, the main bar that's in the centre of the bottom circular bit is welded in and there is some weld that splays out. It therefore might be a good idea for your inner part have as small a diameter as possible, notwithstanding that it will need to be wide enough to give the two fixing screws some support. No problem if you've already printed or if you'd rather not change your plan. It might just save your lovely print being modified slightly by a duffer like me
  11. That would be brilliant. My cutting and gluing seems to have lasted for two round trips of about 100 miles. And it's still in place. Interesting is the fact I needed to change my right foot muscle memory but the current configuration is certainly more convenient and my toe and toeing works 90% of the time rather than it being hit and miss like before.
  12. I did as you suggested and actually it does seem to work. Sort of. But that's mainly due to my lacking the Dremel skills, lol. It's in there and appears to have stuck, so I'll test it on the way to the race meeting at Combe today.
  13. Yes, I think what I'm going to do initially is to press some modelling clay through the pedal to get a rough idea of the shape the extension needs to be and then file your print down with the Dremel and see what happens.
  14. Good idea. I doubt it'll go in with a straightforward cut but I think I may be able to do some mods with my Dremel kit. Worth trying anyway. So I'll send you full amount and have a play.
  15. I got the extension today but I'm afraid I'm going to have to return it as it doesn't fit my pedal. And never could. I've attached the pic of my pedal and as you can see, the loop at the bottom has the main pedal bar running right through the middle of the loop. I don't know if my pedal is unusual but it's a shame as I was looking forward to fitting your neat design. Can you send your address by PM ? Sorry about that.
  16. Thanks for the advice Roger. Most useful...
  17. Thanks for that. And would that be a good idea to do at the same time as sorting the leaking inlet valve ? And if so what do you think would be the cost implication, over and above the leaky inlet valve ? Thanks for any info....
  18. Thanks very much for the suggestion and I'll make sure that idea is implemented if it hasn't already been. This forum is just so valuable for a Caterham noob like me. Brilliant.
  19. Well, the good news is that as the car is still under warranty, the dealership I bought it from have agreed to take it back and do the necessary work to resolve my issue. Better that than risk dropping a valve into the cylinder....
  20. Sure, I appreciate that and exactly why I posted the thread in the hope that someone like Roger could give me the benefit of their advice
  21. Thanks. It's certainly leaking from the inlet valve and we were using a leakage tester. I did this with someone who supposedly knows what he's doing but I just wanted to get someone like you who also knows what they're doing to give me a second opinion about what needs to be done and how urgent it is. The guy who did the test and who was in a garage obviously has a vested interest in getting work for himself lol
