  1. I will be there both days - in Deputy mode! Brian
  2. Guys, I have spoken to the author of the report on the MSA website that Mark quoted from and he indicates that it will apply to all vehicles manufactured after 31 Dec 1999. For our championship permit as its a renewal the regs will not apply until 1 Jan 2009. Brian
  3. Greg, I think you will find that there is no need to have a CC for your car because of the regs that were in force when Caterham started shipping the Vx1600 in late 97 when they bought the job lot of engines. I had an early Vx1600, registered in 98 and like yours it was smoke test only. You must have one of the last Vx1600 cars. Brian
  4. Guys, This is not new. If you look at E.12.16.7 for 2007 you will see ' .... Competitors are reminded of their obligation to maintain such equipment (Catalytic Converters) on a vehicle used on the highway where government legislation requires it.' which essentially means you must have one now if required under the construction and use etc regs for a roadgoing car. All they have done is reword to tighten it up and make it clearer!!! Best Regards, Brian
  5. Hi guilleracing, Presumably in competition licence terms all we need is a UK MSA National A or above license. Looking at the MSA Blue Book (E.2.21.5 or possibly E2.21.9) would seem to apply. Could you confirm your understanding of license requirements for UK competition license holders please. This requires the event to have a specific status. Many thanks, Brian
  6. Hi - sounds interesting - may well be interested for 2008. Brian
  7. Well done Adrian - and thanks for the encouragement! Brian
  8. A brief update on the conditions at Shelsley Walsh today - Wednesday: - track, paddock fine. - normal competitors/officials carpark is under water still! Contingency plans are being looked at now - Ham bridge over the River Teme - the bridge on the route out of Worcester through Martley (that I use) is permanently shut apparently - with suspected structural damage. The water was going over the bridge on Monday.. The directions signs to Shelsley are being amended to avoid this route. - Everything else fine. See you Saturday. Brian
  9. Dear Headmaster, Shelsley is a real hill. Do make sure you walk the course - you will see for yourself then the very limited runoff and the steepness of the hill. Although looking a deceptively simple hill you do need to get the lines correct - particularly at the right hander Top S where the camber is wrong and you will end up on or in the grass bank if you are not careful. Shelsley is a power hill. The resurfacing done in the spring does reportedly give good grip - particularly in the dry. However it is not unlimited as Darren found out much to his annoyance a few weeks back just past Crossing. In the wet treat Shelsley with deep respect! The start line is slightly uphill. If its your first hill you will be pleasantly surprised by the number of spectators around both in the paddock and watching the action up the hill. Shelsley is great for spectators with picnics etc when the weather is fine. You can only park your competition car in the paddock. Towcars/trailers etc have to be parked in the Officials/Competitors car park across the road. Hence leave plenty of time to get the car off the trailer and get all your bits and pieces to your allocated spot or shed in the paddock. Practice at Shelsley Walsh is not in class/number order. After the car is scrutineered you sign up in which practice batches you want to do your practice runs at the kiosk at the back of the signing-on hut. See you all Saturday. I will (as Deputy Clerk of the Course this year) be as usual based in the Farmyard near the start line - but I will try and say Hi when possible. Also as Rob mentioned in another thread on Sunday there is a MAC/VSCC vintage car event - much slower yes - but equally entertaining. Have a great Shelsley Brian Edited by - bl0498 on 26 Jun 2007 22:18:06

    Shelsley - VSCC

Hi Rob, Yes just like last year there is a combined MAC/VSCC day on the 1st July - the Sunday after the L7CGB event at Shelsley Walsh. This is a very popular event and is entirely old cars. Although the cars clearly go much more slowly up the hill it is fascinating to watch. A few years ago they ran the VSCC day on the Saturday and the Nat B day on the Sunday - it was changed partly due to the amount of oil laid down on the track after the VSCC day! MAC recommend lots of pubs/hotels etc in the area if anyone wishes to stay overnight on the Saturday. For general info I will be Deputy Clerk of the Course for the L7CGB event this year - with Martin Baker (my Deputy at Curborough) as Clerk. On the Sunday I will probably spectate. 11. Darren, I hope you get the car sorted quickly - only damage to the wallet! We had lots of cars looking for unlimited grip over the weekend - Richard on the recovery vehicle was very busy both days..... Did you see the badly bent Ferrari? The previous outright hill record was broken several times during Sunday culminating in Scott Moran edging is down even lower than Martin Groves had done previously. A great day oh hillclimbing on the new Shelsley Walsh surface with lots of records broken. Brian
  12. For those of you that have read the SRs and Finals you will already be aware that MAC allow us to walk the course and there are none of the convoy runs we had previously following Claire's MG TF!! Given the number of competitors to fit in the paddock (including all those Ferraris) I don't suggest anyone is late either!!! Brian Edited by - bl0498 on 25 May 2007 16:58:25
  13. I have a premonition that your number is 54. Well thats what it says on Colin's entry list Lynda. Brian
  14. Will they make me go quicker Mark? Brian
  15. Guys, RichardO is correct - get your applications in before Christmas! I have had both my CofC and competition licence for months too... I know when I went to a Clerks seminar a month or so ago that there was talk of problems at the photocard licence production house - the licences are done in batches apparently. Brian
  16. Guys, Just a reminder that the competition licence upgrade procedure has changed this year if you are looking to collect signatures to upgrade from a Non-Race Nat B licence. With the advent of the credit card style competition licences there is nowhere on the back for we Clerks of the Course to sign the licence as before - so instead the Upgrade Card - an insert in the Blue Book (P128) was created. As well as presenting your competition licence you need to hand the Upgrade card in when signing-on (and remember to collect it too!). Note that the Upgrade Card requires a photo to be attached - just like the old licence and signed too. When signing-on the officials will check that the details on the competition licence and the Upgrade card match. Hope this helps, Brian Clerk of the Course
  17. Hi Ken, I suspect they have simply moved the bumps around! It cost £30k to resurface - all from MAC regalia sales profit - according to their annual report. Brian Oh and you guys will be pleased to hear I am only Deputy Clerk of the Course at our Shelsley Walsh event this year!! In answer to the general question about Shelsley Walsh it does have tremendous atmosphere and history. A day there is always enjoyable - even when it rains.

    MIRA

Chris, As Mark says as long as your wife arrives with you no problem. No children under 16 at MIRA though (Saturday is a working day there and the No 2 banked circuit runs just behind the area used for the paddock) and no cameras or camera phones.... Brian
  19. Guys, See Blue Book L 10.9.1..... Brian
  20. Also the basic regs for the two MAC events at MIRA and Shelsley Walsh are also out to MAC members - although the entry forms are on request. So we should be getting the MAC regs soon I would guess. Brian
  21. Simon, Tyres now arrived !!!! Many thanks, Brian
  22. Thanks Simon, Will be back home late tonight..... will try to sort then. Brian
  23. Hi Simon, Checked with Janice last night (Tuesday) and they had not arrived then. Brian
  24. HI Simon, In Israel at present and mentioned the tyres to my better half last night and none had arrived. Will check again tonight.. Thanks for organising this. Brian
