  1. When I specced my 310R I got the trackday roll bar (similar to the FIA roll bar) and lowered floors for exactly this reason. I'm 5'11"...
  2. That's my plan. I'll take another oil level measurement after the next drive to make sure I'm not underestimating the level.
  3. I have an engine cut off so nothing drains the battery when the car's parked up.
  4. I use a standard Samsung suction mount over on the passenger side so it doesn't block either the view forward or the wing mirror. I've also got a dual USB 3 in the socket under the dash.
  5. Great introductory video - I wish I'd booked. I did 10 track days at Castle Combe in my Elise, but I've not done any yet in my 310R. I was waiting to see how things worked out with the pandemic first, but of course both Castle Combe days (and also the Brands Hatch day) are now fully booked I'm now hoping Williams might be running their charity track day at Castle Combe later this year. I'll inquire on the 21st when my car goes on for its first annual service...
  6. I'm assuming it came new from the factory with the Motul oil and coolant specified on the side of the pedal box. So I've ordered top-up bottles of both
  7. Wet sump - standard 310R. I'm checking the oil level as per the manual - with the engine up to temperature. I don't currently have any spare coolant or oil here but could buy some fo course. My question really is whether that's necessary given that the oil will be changed and the coolant topped up as part of the service next week anyway.
  8. And is it okay to drive around with it on min given that it'll all get topped up in just over a week or is it more critical than that? The manual states that both should be on max at all times...
  9. #24 that's good to hear. As a new club member with a new 310R I was starting to get concerned...
  10. £3k - £4k for a little dent like that - ouch. And I thought the Elise my 310R replaces was expensive to repair! At least with a Seven its not a write-off if the chassis gets damaged I suppose. As others have said, it's not your problem thankfully. Fingers crossed it's like new again soon.
  11. According to the Chris Rees book, Supersports (2011-2014) were 140bhp Sigmas. The 270 was sold from 2015, and the Ti-VCT engine gave it 10bhp more than the older engine in the Roadsport 125. Could it be a Roadsport (2006-2015) with a Supersport upgrade?
  12. My 310R is about to go in for its first annual service in two weeks time. After a year and 1,300 miles I've checked all the fluids and I'd say the oil and coolant are both approximately on min, and there's about half a centimetre of oil in the bottom of the catch tank. The car went for it's end of run-in 'service' at 750 miles, so the oil and coolant would have been on max after that. I did recently notice a small pool of coolant under one of the heater hoses by the airbox but tightening the jubilee clip stopped that and it really wasn't much. Obviously the oil will be changed and the coolant topped up in the annual service, but do those levels sound fairly normal?

    Car Covers

I love my Caterham indoor cover, but how cool would one of these Gulf Racing Hamilton Classic ones be for my car!?
  14. In the Elise this was always caused either by tappets being starved of oil or the charcoal canister valve sticking. Is there one of those fitted on a Caterham?
  15. [EDIT] Today I learnt that the forum sometimes double posts and also that delete doesn't work
  16. Great - I was planning on buying one of these anyway next time Halfords have a sale: https://www.halfords.com/tools/hand-tools/spanners-and-wrenches/halfords-advanced-torque-wrench-model-200-488711.html Yes I know it goes way too high for the Caterham, but Mrs. GulfSeven's Mercedes GLC has higher torque wheel bolts...
  17. It sounds like you need a 'max torque' torque wrench to check, and you're looking at 40 ft lbs new vs 20 ft lbs when it needs a rebuild?
  18. I'm afraid I've not read all 40 pages of this thread... I assume changing the oil is easy but checking the preload somewhat more involved?
  19. Should I be concerned about my 2020 310R, or is a post 2018 car with 152bhp likely to be unaffected?
  20. I'm surprised our profiles don't have our first names on them actually to make this sort of thing easier. That's not actually the first time I've put my name on a post... I did sign off Tim on my first ever post too
  21. #7: What's this 'Gulfie' thing? You can't just go around abbreviating and adding "ie"
  22. Those pressure gauges are a must-have on a track day. I've got this one: https://www.eliseparts.com/shop/tools/tools/tyre-pressure-gauge-with-flexible-hose/
  23. I asked Caterham when my 310R was delivered last year and they said 18psi. That's ZZS on 15" wheels. The approach I took with my Elise was to go with the manufacturers recommendation and maintain that by letting out air after each session on track, so I'll probably do the same with the Seven.
