  1. Thank you both for your kind offers. Any tips on the reported upgrades that Caterham have issued re speedometer problems? Bob
  2. Following a successful rolling road session when new ECU ( MBE) unit was fitted, I noticed that the speedometer no longer worked. On initially turning on the ignition all the dials, including the speedo perform the full sweep function, but there is no MPG reading or mileage addition to the present display. I have replaced the sensing head, although there was no obvious problem with the previous unit ( LED Flashing etc). Am reasonably good at reading electrical drawings, however, what I am not good at is inverting myself under the dashboard! Is anybody able to save me from this ignominy? All ideas welcomed! Bob

    ECU locked.

Hi Simon. Thank you for your prompt update. I now have a choice, which is to straight swap the ECU as per your kind offer or bring forward a alteration to the inter cooler and then have the ECU 9A4 mapped from a zero point on the new engine set up. Thank you, Robert.

    ECU locked.

Good morning all. Is there any possibility that i can gain access to my MBE 992 ECU to extract the Map for updating in a newer MBE unit, I appreciate that the car will have to go through a full R/Road set up afterwards. I wish to eradicate the limitations of access that the present set up places upon me. Your thoughts are most welcomed. Robert

  7. Is it possible for a copy of the powerpoint drawing to be sent to me.? Thank you.
  8. Hi Robert. 9000miles touring in France and northern Spain in the summer. 305+BHP an excelent way to extract power from the Duratec unit. Ok it is in a CSR so more room for engine kit and the sturdy boy at the helm! Regards Robert.
  9. Hi i have used Wix oil filters Ref WIX-WL 7064 for the last two changes on my supercharged 2L CSR and find them a good unit. Alternatives are UFI 2311800 Or Halfords supplied HOF 203 however these are approximately 18mm taller. The Halfords (HOF 203) are not my first choice!
  10. Thank you for the information. Regards Robert

    Dog containment

Thanks for all the kind suggestions! She does like the overrun, also the monthly Carrotland meetings given half a chance! But, we would still welcome photos and ideas. Going to Spain without dog! Dog containment

Thank you for your concern for the welfare of the dog. We are improving it as she used to reside in the passenger foot well, At least there will be a lot of fresh cooling air in the back. I had imagined a thin perforated net held at the bottom by a solid skirt attached to the existing snap fittings - perhaps supported by the hood poles! Any alternative ideas welcomed.

    wanted

Hi to you all. I am looking for a spare set of wheels for my CSR. 2 number 15inch x 9 inch 10 spoke units. 2 number 15inch x6.5 inch 10 spoke units. In the dream world these would be black! Anthracite or other colour may prove interesting. Even odd ones if i can obtain a set that way. Good condition required, but they do not have to be perfect as they may have to be colour coded . Thank you in anticipation. Bob
  18. Good evening Paul. Please can you inform me of the width and do you have a picture of the unit? Regards Robert.
  19. Good morning. Are you referring to the road speed sensor? If so i have a extremely accurate way of reading the rotation fitted to my Supercharged CSR. Its a modification of an ALB part. Bob
  20. Hi Paul. The instruments in my car were coloured to match the car, The effect is pleasing and the light source was changed to a LED format. These are at 8400K light rendering colour(the Blue end of the light range). The original manufacturer undertook this task. I do not have a break down of the costs. E mail me if you wish for a photo.
  21. Hi new pins are available from performance braking Ltd at about £2 each. They are good with there deliveries also. How did you bend them? Regards Rob
  22. They are indead captive, in that they are formed as part of the chassis. I have recently fitted some new harnesses and became aware that the passenger side lap fixing runs very close to the brake pipe. It might be prudent to view down the hole, or alternativly lift the rear tunnel section on your CSR as they are visable with a mirror and torch.

    Superchargers

I have a 305 bhp Supercharged Duratec set up in my CSR, which now has 4000 miles under her crank. If any of you would seriously like an overall view of it please contact me. As for how much bhp is too much, that very much depends on the whole set up of the car - and the capability of the driver! I will add that the delivery of the power via the Supercharger is very linear, and in the correct hands makes for a very capable GT vehicle. A very rewarding car to drive, both progressively as I do, and for my wife to enjoy taking the wheel on shared driving trips. Bob
  24. Good morning to you both. Thank you Mankee for the heads up on the light, are you local to Woodbridge ? And thank you also Steve for bringing this to my attention. Steve you are just a little too generous on the numbers! The new throttle body which is being collected today may well take it to 315 bhp, it is at present a realistic 305 bhp, and the delivery from the supercharger makes it very traceable. Bob.
