  1. I changed from 15's to 13's on my SV 2006 Superlight. Front 6", rear 8", ZZS. No issues and I found the car much more comfortable with this setup. I would say it does handle a tad better. If you do jump to this setup I don't think you will regret it. That said, I still love the 15's so experimenting with the other tyres would defo be an option.
  2. Before I advertise this anywhere else, I thought I would ask on here. I have for sale a 2017 VW Caddy Highline with 24,600 miles. This is the more powerful 2L diesel Euro 6 engine, 100HP. It requires ad blue. I have owned this van just under a year, it's up for sale as I have bought an AWD transit MWB as my contract work requires more tools on board so I have outgrown the Caddy. I purchased this from a VW main dealer last year. The van has only done approx 2k in my ownership. It had 1 owner before myself that was an IT company and they used it to deliver boxes. It is in ridiculously good condition (no dents or scratches at all; just 2 or 3 stone chips), I have many pictures and will load out the spec below for those interested; VW Caddy 2017, White, 24,600 miles (May rise slightly with work), Air con, Alloys, ply lined, Parking sensors, Bluetooth, Heated Screen, Electric windows. The van had a full machine polish and protect end of last year. I have had hook locks added to the van doors for security. It has genuine VW roof bars, seat covers, rubber mats and boot liner, window guards and roof rails fitted. The van has pretty much new tyres. In the last week, at VW main dealer I have had a full service, cambelt and water pump, air con re gas and anti viral clean plus a new windscreen due to a chip. Unless you are buying a new Caddy, you will not find one in better condition! I have paid the VAT so no worries on that. I am not negotiable on the price as the recent work owes me well over £1.5k and this will be a van needing no work for a minimum 24months! It has outstanding warranty for the new owner too. £14k no offers, this will be advertised at more if this doesn't sell on here! Pictures on request.
  3. No that's another good option thank you, I'll have a look into that too!
  4. I'll give Millwood a try, thanks for the tip. Seems a bit OTT to buy a whole new harness when I just need the two top straps! I'm not going to be fitting rubbish to the car so worst case a new one will be purchased if available. I'm getting to the end of my used search witts anyway!
  5. Evening guys, I am still after one harness. It's getting frustrating as I have bought 2 used ones elsewhere and both have slight changes and don't match. The last being just a buckle that was silver instead of black. So to show what I am after, either of the below but with black buckles (ideally the top harness). I only need the top 2 straps if it helps. I have been to specialists and race teams. I have spoken with Caterham who have nothing and Redline only have new which seems a bit OTT. If you can help I would be over the moon!
  6. So apparently the bearing had minor play and they tightened it up. It was vibrating the wing stay which was making the second noise, as you guys mentioned before in previous posts. They have now bonded the wingstay too which will help with further vibration. The handling is much better now, but I will be getting a second opinion when the bloody rain stops. CC have kept the case open incase there are any return issues with it - which will be covered under warranty which is pretty decent of them. I guess time will tell, but I agree, I would have thought the bearing would have been the first point of call!
  7. Just a quick update on this. I have the car back and have taken it for 3 separate runs, one being a proper blat yesterday. It appears so far that the problem has been resolved. And what was it......play in the N/S wheel bearing! If I don't post in here again, assume it's fixed. And if anyone else has a similar noise, check your wheel bearings!
  8. Will give that a go if no luck on here, it's just to match the two logos on the top straps. I have sleepless nights over things like this!
  9. I am after a matching set of Harnesses (just the top two straps) to go with my recently purchased new style top caterham harnesses on the other side. I have a set of Luke harnesses or the old style caterham harnesses (the ones where the logo is out of rubber rather then sewn in) that I am happy to swap for the right pair. I want to finally get my interior matching!! Let me know if you have anything suitable. Joe
  10. Check with Oxted for order times as well. When I spoke to them in July I believe they were telling me production for my boot cover would be around December and to buy directly from Caterham! For info really as I know they are hugely behind on production
  11. Great post thank you, some good ideas. It will be 4 weeks on Monday that Caterham have had my car. I will be asking for an update and I think I will direct them to this post for rectification if nothing is sorted. Thanks everyone for you input, will keep you updated
  12. A few answers; Yes they happen together that's the braking vibration and panel noise Car is a Sigma It is definitely not coming from the scuttle area It can happen regardless of brake pressure and speed I considered the engine mount/ gearbox mount and this is possible I also thought the steering rack The car was sat for years doing back and forth to the MOT station once a year. I assume this could be linked to that Vibration also seems to feed a bit through the tunnel This thread is great as I'm going to list everything in an email to Caterham if they say it's not found. Obviously I will report back what the issue is if they find it. It's also interesting that no one else seems to have had the noise, means I'm not being led astray by CC's!
  13. I think it was pulling slightly right from memory in normal driving conditions, again I can't remember under braking as I haven't used the car much in the last few months - but I believe it was pulling a bit of everywhere due to how severe the vibration is.
  14. As I said, Caterham still have the car and I really want it done under warranty as it's been an issue since I purchased it/ plus that's the point of buying with a warranty. If I do get it back and it happens again, I can probably get a go pro set up with camera and audio. I will then do a much longer drive and see what the exact characteristics of the noise are. Suspension does seem a good place to start I guess if the braking system is in good shape. You would think with the volume and how severe the noise/ vibration is, the issue would be quite obvious from checking round. It does make me think how thoroughly they are looking
  15. I thought this as well, but you would assume it would be more dramatic depending on the speed you were travelling. If anything it's worse slower then faster. The only reason I'm assuming it's brake related is due to the vibration through the pedal.
  16. On the service schedule, I think on the 2 year/ 24k service they are shown as repacking the bearings. Even so, you would assume they would have checked this but I'll add it to the list in case. The car has 12,300 miles on it for info as well and is a 2006. I haven't pulled the pads out, mainly as I purchased from CC as a select model, had 12 months warranty and had just been serviced. I have completed only 1500 miles in a year. It did cross my mind regarding the pads but you would assume it would happen more frequently. Sometimes you can drive for an hour and it won't happen. Other times it can happen within 5 minutes of a drive. Strange!
  17. Hi James, The resonating panel is caused by the vibration under braking. You can feel it through the brake pedal. All the front panels were checked before including the nose cone and grill (a clip was actually missing which was replaced). I guess this means that theory is out. Suspension could be an option, I am not sure if this has been checked by Caterham so I will add this to a list if they say they cannot find it. I did report that in my opinion, steering feels a bit vague. They said it would benefit from a flat floor. I am more inclined to do the tracking first as I'm sure there was a very slight pull to one side. Not sure if any of the above will help diagnosed the issue further...
  18. Evening, My car is currently with Caterham under a warranty claim. It's been in once before for the same issue, and they could not find the problem. Since then I have sent them this video; https://streamable.com/0mjszf When the weather was warm, the issue seemed to be more frequent but does happen in cold weather too. When coming to a stop, normally on mid to light braking, I get a vibration through the car/ brake pedal/ front left (I believe) side. The noise goes when you let off the pedal, but comes back every time you dab the brake on that one braking cycle until you come to a complete stop. You could pull away and brake another 10 times and the issue would not show itself, likewise it may do it the next 10 times. Apparently they have checked everything and cannot find anything wrong. They also are struggling to get the noise to replicate itself. My first impression would be calliper/ disks/ wheel bearing but as I've just also had a major service, this should all have been checked/ re-packed with them checking through warranty. I've had the car 11 months and it's been there since day one of purchasing. I'm now getting towards the end of warranty and the noise seems to be as loud if not louder. It doesn't inspire confidence braking and also it is bloody embarrassing coming to a stop at lights as it is so loud! Does anyone have any ideas? Caterham will have had my car 3 weeks next Monday (this is partly due to staff off due to covid isolation) but I'm worried they are going to say they cannot find it! I have probably 10 witnesses to the noise, plus video evidence. It's extremely frustrating. Any advice/ thoughts would be appreciated. Joe
  19. He hasn't really told me much else, I said I would ask on here as a member and see what came my way. Can you pm some details, price etc as well and I can put it forward to him. Thank you
  20. A good friend of mine is in need of a Budget 4x4. Ideally a proper 4x4 such as defender/ disco/ RR/ Shogun, Jeep etc. If anyone has anything that fits the bill, let me know. Distance shouldn't be much of an issue. Thanks guys.
  21. That's the ones on my car. I love the look. Definitely get them!
  22. To confirm; I lubricated all the cables and the pedal assembly. It seems to have resolved my issues for now, but this thread is great help with any future issues if it returns. Thanks everyone
  23. Thank you Jonathan, I really struggle with the picture uploads on my iPhone!
