  1. Thank you Oily I was leaning towards ceramic coating - but was surprised my the warranty only being 1yr. Sounds like wrap has a longer life span and more effective to boot. Chris
  2. Having had a quote from Zircotec for Ceramic Coating and also seen a recommendation for DEI Exhaust Wrap, there is a large difference in costs. Hence, looking for recommendations as to what is preferred/deemed better? With thanks Chris

  5. Reply to #64 Hi Ben, Yes, I suspect you are right. The primaries are wrapped - albeit they need redoing as started to fray, so presently they are partially wrapped. Hence, I'll either rewrap them or look at ceramic coating as been advised that's even better than wrapping them. Chris

If this ends up being the end of this thread, then I feel compelled to finishing it with "it's been emotional" OP aka Chris
  7. Hi Stu, On the appearance aspect - I'm not concerned. Though there does seem to be a fair amount of evidence/opinions that this won't work as I am hoping. As it stands, it's a risk I'm willing to take I'll press ahead
  8. Reply to #52 Yes, James - I see what you mean, that would be utopia - and more effective due to the low pressure aspect you highlight. But unfortunately this Caterham NACA duct only fits the RHS pointing backwards due to its curvature. Perhaps this whole idea will end in me asking Tillett if they could make one to fit the RHS (pointing forwards). But I suspect that would come at an eye watering price.
  9. Hi Ben, Yes - I've unintentionally ended up creating two now similar threads. I'll be modifying the pedal box cover, to keep it air tight as such to the engine bay - albeit I'll need to cut it so it's contour follows the inner NACA duct face. Then plan is to design and 3D print a single piece of ducting to link the NACA with a hole in the pedal box cover. Im trying to make it such that others can replicate it if they'd want to. PS The black "sweat band" was on the car when I got it - does the job perfectly.

Before I cut a hole in the bonnet, please could I ask someone to measure and advise the distance between the edge of the bonnet and the tear drop breather hole Caterham do as standard on present models, ie blue line below; With thanks Chris Edit: Dimensions established, thanks to "HandWheels" 185mm and 92mm

  15. Thought I'd reignite this thread as I'm soon to cut a hole in my bonnet. My plan has changed to using the NACA duct as a footwell cooling vent. Am fine tuning it's position, but give or take it'll be as per these pics.
  16. Intention is for the NACA duct to take (suck) air out of the footwell. In this orientation (pointy part backwards) it will (should) work the opposite to when the pointy part is forwards (like the air intake on the 485 model). There are lots of comments on a separate thread regarding this - fair to say not everyone thinks it will work..... /forum/techtalk/naca-duct-installation-advise Chris

  18. Didn't think fly by wire was used on RHD (non EU5 reg)? Or are there specific models eg 620 that features fly by wire?? Either way I plan on removing part of this "excess" metal to make room for footwell venting via NACA duct fitment.

  20. Hoping someone could help me understand what the purpose/use is for "wedge" shaped part of the pedal box? To me it looks redundant, hence I can't understand why it features two rivnuts and a sealed blanking plate on the face not shown below. With thanks Chris

  22. Reply to #20 Hi O.G. Am conscious not everyone is a fan/convinced by NACA ducts (which ever way round fitted). Lots of knowledgeable opinions on a relating thread, ref /forum/techtalk/naca-duct-installation-advise I'd suggest this video confirms the principle of NACA ducts work in reverse; Admittedly this thread has near enough turned into a continuation of the other thread. Albeit, I do still intend on fitting two - one each side, and each with a different purpose. As always, all opinions and input appreciated. Chris
  23. Reply to #19 It seems a extreme to "redesign" the pedal box to flat - but have to admit I'm tempted. And now wondering how I can get my hand on a LHD version. Though expect a RHD version would need to be folded the opposite to the LHD. In regards to the airflow - once I've got the NACA Duct in-situ I'll then design a duct to link the NACA back to the footwell and have it 3D printed.
