  1. Hi, looking like a wet weekend at Prescott with a chance of winning the championship and would appreciate any tips and recommendations on setup options. Car is a 1.6K Supersport, running front and rear ARBs. Normally run Toyo 888Rs and have struggled with traction in the wet @ 18psi. Also have a set of Yokohama A539s I'm tempted to try but I guess the track would need to be very wet for any advantage here. I drive to the track so can only take 1 set on the car. Fingers crossed the forecast is wrong and the sun shines!
  2. Thanks Geoff, when you talk about a change in the nature of the engine is this a positive change or does it lead to mapping issues etc?
  3. Hi, How much is performance improved by fitting a de-cat exhaust to a 1.6 K series. Currently running 633 cams with plastic plenum and standard manifold.
  4. Hi, I'm after a Softbits Motorsport Storm Cap (or equivalent) ahead of the L7C Anglesey Track Day. Hopefully won't be needed but just in case! Needs to be suitable for full roll cage and use on the trailer. I was hoping to buy new but unable to get any response from Softbits currently. Happy to buy second hand or borrow for the weekend if anyone has one available. Please message me if you have anything out there... Thanks
  5. Thank! Yes, closed reading is 3.92% Not sure why it went out of calibration yesterday, was reading around 12% closed and car was not running well! Second time this has happened in a few weeks, both times hot days when engine was really hot. Have ordered a replacement position sensor to see if this overcomes - but at least I now know the cause of the problem and can recalibrate if necessary. Andrew
  6. Hi, I've just reset the TPS on my Caterham after if went out of calibration. After resetting I notice on the OBD output that at full throttle it only reads 87% and 4% off throttle. Car running OK but I was expecting the outputs to be 0% - 100%. Is this normal?
  7. Replacement gasket ordered from DMGRS... thanks.
  8. Looks like I'm sorted, Big thanks to Gary for helping out here!
  9. Hi Nick, Did this part from Merlin do the job? Replacing my Oil Filter adaptor and the old seal was poorly fitted, trapped and has gone hard! Thanks
  10. Not sure how to post a picture, but this link shows the standard k series adaptor. https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/18k-oil-filter--adaptor-11579-c.asp I think it is a standard k series part with the oil temp port blanked off. Thanks
  11. Does anyone have a K Series oil filter adaptor sitting on the shelf or on an oldengine? Investigating issues with the Oil Pressure sensor and the thread in the adaptor does not look good and considering the failure mode I don't really want to put it back together without sorting. Helicoil an option, but a replacement adaptor would be a better fix if I can find one. Thanks!
  12. Thanks Garth, investigated further last night, previous owner had inserted M5 rivnut into the dash rail so self tappers won't work. managed to cut off some M5 screws and rivet them into the popper heads and screw into rail... seems to be holding. Thanks for confirming there are no special fixings I should be looking for!
  13. I'm trying to fir a Caterham Composite Aeroscreen but only have 2 screws on top of the scuttle where the poppers should attach. Are there some special popper headed fixings that screw in here, I can't find any screws small enough to fit in the popper buttons I have. thanks
  14. Hi, interested if you still have a pair available. Do you have a picture if brackets fitted with 7" lights? thanks
  15. Does anyone have a spare oil pressure sensor for a K series available? Looking at options to replace with a mechanical gauge but would like to confirm the problem is the sensor before going too far. Advise or recommendations on a mechanical gauge also welcome!
  16. Jonathan, Speedo is electric, wires from the speed sensor on the gearbox to the speedo gauge. Are the gauges serviceable at home or do they need to go to specialist? Andrew
  17. So my speedo started to fail intermittently and now seems to have stopped working completely. I also notice to he odometer is also not increasing. Rev counter is also bouncing but i suspect this is unrelated - but will check the earth connections. I did fit a new speedo drive unit a couple of years ago so I wouldn't expect that to have failed again so soon? was thinking about fitting the sensor to an electric drill to see if that provides an out put that would drive the speedo - which might point to the worm gear being the issue. Any other suggestions on how I can diagnose the fault? Car is 2005 K Series with the Ford 5spd box
  18. Thanks both, I have the rack out and have improved it with the adjuster - but the rack still feels rough and the other end is quite corroded where it passes through the nylon bush. I really want to disassemble, clean and re-grease before I know if it is good - hopefully it will be! So the next challenge is how to pull the pinion out - that will be tomorrows quest. Thanks for the links Jonathan, some good info here on grease types etc.
  19. Ok, I did message Phil B to try and get a copy of the Elise article he referenced but no word back yet. Rack is now on bench, managed to eliminate a lot of the play through adjustment but I'm a bit concerned about the corrosion on the passenger side of the rack itself. If I can get instructions I will strip and examine further....
  20. Thanks Phil, Ive now got the rack out of the car and removed the gaitors. Corrosion on the long end of the rack where it passes through the bush you have pictures is bad so I suspect this puts it beyond repair? Hoping there might be someone out there with a spare rack sat on a garage shelf. May get McMillan to give it a once over before I condemn.
  21. Hi, I've got excessive play in my steering rack which on first inspection looks to be due to worn bushes in the rack itself. Inner and outer ball joints are OK but there is movement "up and down" in the rack itself. Can anyone point me towards sources for the part I need to overhaul and any instructions on how to strip and rebuild? Would also welcome any recommendations on anyone in the midlands that could carry out the overhaul for me Thanks!
  22. Thanks, will send Tazio a message. Would consider raking on the overhaul myself... if I can source the parts etc. Any advise where I might get parts from? Messaged Phil B to see if I can get hold of the article he has on rack overhaul. Will also start a tech thread to see what inputs I get.
  23. Hi, Does anybody have a steering rack for a S3 narrow track for sale. Car is ex-academy car which I assume has a 8% rack unless anyone tells me different? Current rack badly worn, just investigating replacement and repair options. Thanks
