  1. How do you get it off with the dry sump tower - I can only just remove the the leads - there is no room to change it out!!! There must be a simple technique that i am missing
  2. Yes I had some fun and games with this. inhad an old motorbike intercom set up DIYed into a set of peltors, they were great and I used the for around 10 years, but wanted the ability for myself and the boss to chat AND listen to music together plus have the satnav directions as well. I found a new Cardo x2 system had everything and again DIYed it in to the old peltors. It's relatively cheap and so far worked really really well. the old thread has some photos etc
  3. I am the same as a few here - its not how wide the tyre is, but the height - I cannot get 60 profile under my front wing stays - tried 888s. but only available in 60s So I am on the ZZS and love them, but worried when it comes to change and finding the right profile
  4. Ian I got mine form here https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/591472 They were the cheapest and had good support
  5. Pre drilled, leather £75 plus P&P
  6. Angus I have the same kit I think from Autocom that is now surpluse to requirements, Drop me a message if you fancy it as a spare/ parts etc I have the unit, two peltor headsets and two helmet sets and all the cables Its a bit old but all works
  7. Just cut away the plastic of the peltors and everything else stayed the same. Myself and the wife were sitting on the sofa chatting in ours, listening to music and talking to each other!!!
  8. Nicely done, they are so simple to make! they look really good. How are you finding the cardo system? I have had phone calls on the M1 and the sound and mic works so well.
  9. Yes the boom mic was all part of the Cardo pack - They actually come with two different mics - one boom and one wire one. So very easy to do. And thank you - I am please with how this pair came together.
  10. Hey, no worries on the questions either. My first set up was cheap too because I could not justify the cost just to talk to the wife! so I had a pair of old ear defenders and just popped them apart and stuck, ran wires and clipped the motorbike intercom in. But this set were the big ear defenders and they were to bulky for my taste. So changed to these basic peltor ear defenders. Again took them apart and added in the intercom. I used a dremmel to cut a couple of reliefs in the shell to allow the mic boom and wires to exit and clipped them back together. A couple of cable ties and all done. The motorbike kit came with Velcro for the mic (remember they are designed to stick in side a helmet) and Velcro for the speakers. I am going to sell my old pair of motorbike intercoms that I removed from the peltors to upgrade to the new ones. They work well for Bluetooth music, satnav etc. plus you can talk to your passenger as well. But just not at the same time as the music and satnav. shout if you want any more answers or photos etc
  11. So I have now updated my old units to a pair of Cardo Freecom 4X motorbike intercoms They are really good, the sound quality is amazing as they have JBL speakers and both my wife and myself can listen to one music source shared over both headsets and have the intercom active at the same time, plus as I use the phone for music AND satnav, I get the voice directions as well all in one place. Really happy with the installation and being wireless I can use one set when I am out on my own
  12. Hi Tom This is the old set up - I have just ordered a new pair of motorbike bluetooth intercoms - I went for the Cardo Freecom x2 duel set. I will take these apart and swap over the new set. Apparently these will allow me to share the music to both headsets and also talk over the music at the same time - the sat nav is on my phone so that will come through as well. For just over £100 for the pair and a little fettling with my peltors, we will have a new up to date wireless set up again. The original set you see here has done us proud for over 10 years.
  13. Thanks again, Tom, I will post some photos after Christmas as I am away from the garage and my set up. I will post photos as I have them now and then when I decide which set up to go for - hedging towards the Cardo ones I think. should be an easy job again to open up the plethora and change over the system.
  14. thanks for the replies The sena set do the music and voice over one channel and I have now found that the Cardo Freecom X2 do it as well. The Just Add Lightness ones look great but well well well out of my budget. So for now I will stick to a motorbike intercom set in my old peltors. So after Christmas - I will order a set and then take apart my old Peltors and add back in the new systems (gives me something to tinker with before getting back to work) Anything will be a real step up from my old system, which I workout was over 12 years old and real basic bluetooth, it has done us proud.
  15. I think I may have found a good option Sena SF2 - they seem to do everything we want. But would love to hear some other suggestions too
  16. So I have made my own set years ago and these pair have worked great - they are motorbike intercoms put into peltor headsets. So they work great to talk between myself and the boss. They work great when I am on my own to listen to music, sat nav and reduce wind noise But - what we would like is for us to both be able to listen to the same music and talk together at the same time. The set we have lets us listen to individual music (not the same music across both headsets) OR talk together. For example if I have the sat nav voice on and the boss would like to talk to me, I have to press a button and change to the talk setting. So does anyone know of a set that allows us to both listen to one music source AND also talk without having to change a channel. eg talk over the music. I have been looking at the freecom series and they might do the job, but not 100% sure they do everything we need.
  17. I am interested in this, just wanted to know if it will fit a swan neck tow bar?? also I am away on holiday until the 15th Aug but if you can wait that would be great thanks
  18. Save you the hassle - I will give you 30k!!! LOL seriously that is a lovely car and that is something I would like to move into after I sell my R500 S3 - I fancy some extra space and I want to keep the performance. But to answer the question - Pistonheads is the way to go

  20. Good shout and thanks - had a good look today and the top bolts seem easy - how to get to the bottom ones is going to need double jointed small hands I guess Will give Dave a call and go get one from him so I am ready Thanks again
  21. Checked spark plug 1 and 4 but 3 was a little crusty compared to the others - and they seem ok but there was a little coolant around the inlet though - need to drain and then take the roller barrels off and check. Anything I should be worried about? not removed before
  22. I have a set of the cheap ones from ebay - same/similar to the cafe racer ones and I also have a rubbish difference between dipped and main. Also thinking of changing to something else. The dipped is good but main is rubbish (just looks like dipped but a bit brighter with no extra distance) So watching with interest
  23. Thanks for this John When I topped up the coolant I also topped up the oil so expected more oil in the catch tank as it finds its level - I have had quite a bit of oil in the catch tank so this might be pointing to the HGF or I just overfilled the oil!!! but as I said no milkshake so it must be in the engine. The engine seems to be running fine though - on a cold start up just now, no water / coolant coming from the exhaust and I could not see steam. But there was a bit of venting through the catch tank - no idea if this is more than normal though. No heater so that rules that out I was under the car and I know the hose you mean - could not see anything though, but I guess it really needs load on the system to open any failings
  24. Tim - I am starting to think this is it!! Just been out and had the car up to temp, reved it etc and coolant stayed where it was suppose to - watched the catch tank - lots of venting (is that normal?) with a little condensation. No leaks, coolant did not reach the cap, rad hot on one side and warm on the other, coolant flowing to the bleed t What pressure should the cap be? the new one says 16psi - no idea on the original. Temp got to mid 80s on tick over then up to 88ish, with a bit of revs came back to mid 80s and the fan came on at 81 as normal and stayed on. So got 5ltr of coolant coming and will take this with me to the fish and chip run, take it easy and top up as I go
