  1. We were unable to read the model number onto the actual alternator, everything is unreadable.
  2. Hello, A friend recently bought an HPC built in 1992. The alternator is now out of order and needs to be replaced but no way to find the correct reference for ordering a new one. Does anyone has this reference and where may we find this one? Thanks, Fred.
  3. Hello, Having no (not yet) experience in this domain, what is required for installing these DTH bodies? I guess that the Mems ECU has to be remapped or changed for an Emerald has to be installed. Several element such as TPS, pressure regulator, injectors, IAV, ... have to be adapted or changed. Does someone has any experience for this transformation/adaptation?
  4. Hello, Thanks for your comments. Fitting a 185/13 tyre onto a 8'' wide wheel is correct?
  5. Hello, I did a search in several posts but I'm a little bit lost. I just got a set of 6x13 and 8x13 ET24 R500 8 spoke wheels. They are currently fitted with CR500 but I would like to change them as, I need something versatile (lot of long tours and mountain roads); I do not plan to put the wheels onto a track (or very rarely). The sizes of these CR500 are: Front: 175/55R13 75v Rear: 205/55R13 85v I plan to get Avon ZZS tyres as I am satisfied with them on my current wheels (15'' 10 spoke). Going to Avon Tyres site, the only available size for 13'' wheels are: Front : 185/55R13 83W XL Rear: 215/55R13 88W or 245/50R13 93VIf, for the front, no choice is given; for the rear axle there are 2 possibilities. What could be the best setup 215/13 or 245/13? My Cat is a 1.6K SuperSport so, far under 200BHP ;) Thanks for your help Fred.
  6. Hello, You will have to globally disconnect everything from the engine: Inlet manifold Exhaust Starter motor Alternator ... Disconnect the cooling plumbing but thermostat can stay at its place. There isn't any lifting point onto this engine and using the inlet/exhaust manifolds studs isn't a good idea. Photos below may help you in finding a solution: Additional home--made locking points can be set from an ali plate: I did remove the entire set: engine + gearbox as I had to refit the gearbox. Removing only the engine will be easier. Fred.
  7. Hello, I'm in the search of 2 wheels 8 spokes 6x13 ET24 and 2 wheels 8 spokes 8x13 ET24. If someone has these kind of wheels in the back of his garage... Thanks. Fred.
  8. I did notice this once the engine has been reinstalled into the bay. As this is a S3, there isn't any room for drilling with a standard drill. I had to use a 90° adaptor with a flexible driveshaft. By using a high quality drill forest, making an hole into the alliage is easy.

  10. Hello, For those who still have a Rover K, you may be concerned. My S3 1600k 2005 doesn't have a flywheel blanking plate fitted: I didn't notice this until now as the previous standard flywheel didn't shine as the new installed lightweight one does. So this could be dangerous in case of a stone enters in collision with it. I did search for the original Rover part from both CCUK and ebay...and elsewhere: no success. I decided to make my own one. Here is some photos of the built; if this can be useful for some one... Design for cutting the aluminum plate (0.8mm): First tests with a paper sheet: After having cut the ali plate,3 holes have to be drilled onto the bell housing for fixing the plate: With the hope this can help someone.
  11. Check this page, there are several useful information: http://clefde7.free.fr/trappeessence.htm In French but easily understandable.

    Weight of Car

Hello, The 2005 1.6K S3 SuperSport is announced for weighting 550kg. After several weighting loss upgrades (flywheel, aluminum gearbox case, battery, brakes,...) and after being corner-weighted, my cat is about 520kg with fuel tank full and standard weather equipment.

    K series cooling

Hello, I've added a bleeding T at the higher position of the circuit: no trouble to bleed the circuit since and without having to level up the front of the Cat
  14. Thanks for your answers. I already did exchange by mail with HiSpec but I'll contact them directly by phone for getting more information.
  15. Hello, I am in the scope of upgrading the rear brakes of my 2005 S3 Cat. The subject has been address many times but I need further information for being able to order the need part to HiSpec. I already made the front axle with HiSpec UL4 + vented 260mm grooved disks. Now this is the time to upgrade the rear side. According to the information I could retrieve, the caliper should be UL2 SVA Sierra; piston size should be 38.6mm diameter. As for the disks, which one (reference) to get from HiSpec meaning that their diameter should be 232mm, 10mm thick. I would like to get grooved one (for having the same design as for the front). What should I need to add for being able to fit all the stuff? Thanks for your help. Fred.
  16. Hello, When I did change the timing belt onto my 1600 K SS I built this "locking tool" with with some pieces of metal plates:
  17. Hello, I did install onto my S3 DRL dominated with the indicator light. The installation details are here: https://www.sevener.fr/viewtopic.php?f=157&t=32766 (sorry, mainly in French but understandable).
  18. Hi, I did install this bleed-T and, with the time had issue with it. Being in plastic, the coolant heat distorted the bleed-T caps with as a result a leak. I did replace this item with a DIY one made with brass plumbing parts. Since no issue.
  19. Here are the installation steps I followed for setting up a VHPC exhaust system onto my Caterham S3 K-Serie. First, here are the items received from CCUK: Step 1 : Full mirroring: All parts are made of steal; the goal is the get the aspect of inox. Tools: ....
