  1. One possible advantage of the bobbin is if the mount takes a hit. I don't know how but I took a knock to my rear exhaust mount pushing it almost parallel with the ground and pretty much folding the bobbin at right angles. At first glance you didn't notice it because the exhaust was still in same place. I'm not sure what would have happened if it weren't a bobbin, maybe torn the whole thing out the body? It might be something to think about though I still can't quite work out how it happened in the first place..! Paul.
  2. Hi Jonathan, I'd be interested in a couple of canisters and a couple of black bags. Thanks, Paul.
  3. Thanks. These will look a lot better than the stickers I've currently got. Paul.
  4. I like the switch labels you've got. Did they come with the new dashboard or somewhere else? Paul
  5. Hi, with my 160 I have to wait for about 5 seconds for the fuel pump (I presume that's what it is) to go quiet before pressing the start button. Pressing it before that does nothing. The increased speed of the led I believe means the immobiliser is disarming. It should go normal slow flashing, fast flashing then off. If it doesn't stop flashing are you getting the fob close enough to the key barrel when turning the key? Paul.
  6. Forgot to say the reason I did it this way is that this strip has tabs on the back which nicely fit the tail of the p clip so I think it gives a clean install. I also have a wire running on the underside of one of the diagonals using black duck tape to fix it. You wouldn't know it was there unless you looked hard.
  7. Loads of older posts about it. Mine it uses the Caterham sub loom, a 48 or 60 led strip (can't remember which fits between the rollbar diagonals) from Car Builder Solutions plus two of their P clips to mount it and a waterproof connector (pack from Amazon was cheapest). There is also a guide in the How To section. Fitted it looks like this on my car: Paul.
  8. At 8:25 this morning. Going up the hill towards the A47 roundabout across the road from the Norwich Longwater Sainsbury's.
  9. Hi DRH, as mine was such a pain to get to I just wrapped it in tape by feel. I'm afraid I don't know how it disconnects but I'd guess that it is a sealed unit and you would need to trace the wires back into loom. Hi Jonathan, I couldn't find that old post either. My car is a 2016 160. I'm pretty sure that other post with the beeper behind the speedometer was from a different recent model. Thanks for tidying up my photo, photo editing on my phone is not great. Paul.
  10. On my car it is behind the speedometer. It looks like this: Paul
  11. Osram do the night breaker bulbs. Could it be those ones? You should need H4 I've seen the night breaker bulbs mentioned a few times on here but never used them myself. Paul
  12. I read through quite a few old forum posts last summer and they convinced me to do it. I actually used Dinitrol which people suggested was easier to apply - I found it really easy to spray into all the little gaps around the car. Paul.
  13. Hi Jonathan is it a lot off the minimum order size? I'm in no rush to get one of the tool tubes but I did stumble across this site selling them and was tempted to order one http://www.adventure-spec.com/default/tools-adventure-spec-tool-tube.html Though at £16 they are a bit more pricey than the previous bulk buys. Paul.
  14. I like the idea, maybe its because like you I've never been to the local meeting - maybe I should as I'm not 100% certain my car is handling right... Anyway I don't think you could make a living out of it doing just Caterhams. You might get more take up if you expanded to other types of 7s. A guy at work has been building his Westfield for 6 years now and his car is a second hand project from someone who gave up. Of course that would open you up to all kinds of wacky builds. Paul.
  15. Hi Ivan, not sure if you got my reply to your PM - it said it both failed to send and sent, very odd! Anyway if not could you put me down for the standard / solid ones. Thanks, Paul.
  16. Hi if there is another order could you put me down for a tube and tool roll. Thanks, Paul.
  17. It looks a bit like the pedestal LED light from CBS but that would need some modifications to the boot: http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/pedestal-mount-28-led-high-level-brake-light-255mm If you are just after something that fits nicely between the diagonals of a track day bar, the 60 LED CBS will: http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/60-led-high-level-third-brake-light This is it fitted by my 160: Jonathan - I thought the only major chassis difference on the 160 was the position of the engine mounts, but I'd like to know if that really is the case. Paul.

    Roll bars

Just a guess but could the sloping rollbar be the tall trackday rollbar mentioned in the March 2016 Lowflying and the Getting to Know Your 7 guides? With its height in the side profile of it fitted to the car the slope does look much more pronounced. Paul.
  19. These scans from 2001 have been linked to a few times. It's an interesting read about a Caterham being put in a wind tunnel: http://californiacaterhamclub.com/aerodynamic/Caterham%20aero%20art%201%20copy.jpg http://californiacaterhamclub.com/aerodynamic/Caterham%20aero%20art%202%20copy.jpg http://californiacaterhamclub.com/aerodynamic/Caterham%20aero%20art%203%20copy.jpg Paul.
  20. You followed us from Wroxham through Rackheath - sorry if you thought we'd found a good blatable road, that is a word right ;) , I'm just trying to work out the best route to the A47. That really wasn't it.
  21. We passed just after you had left Hingham on the B1108 and I was coming into it. Green, maybe with stripes? Sorry I can't remember more I was surprised to see another car at the same spot only a couple of hours apart! Paul.
  22. You overtook me just as we came out of Hingham on the B1108 heading towards Watton. Orange or yellow with stripes and half hood on. Paul.
  23. Hi, according to the Seven manual the 160 is 1480mm wide while the standard S3 is 1575mm. Paul.
  24. I didn't think a speedo could ever be truly accurate? Given the way tire condition / temp / load etc affects it I always assumed that speedo manufacturers would calibrate to an average of all the factor. Wasn't there something, what 10 or 15 years ago in the news about how a speedo would over read at low speeds and under at high?
  25. Is part of the problem that this text area we type our comments in not a real html textarea control? This seems to be why Firefox won't spell check comments for me - it doesn't think there is anything there to spell check. The brute force fix would be to strip out all the web spell checking. Given all modern mainstream browsers on PCs, tablets and phones spell check and most people have their device set to auto check it's an idea. Alternatively if the comments box could be made a real html text input control you'd get a good compromise.
