  1. https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=66&t=1641368&i=0 Some interesting thoughts on con rods cheap and other wise.
  2. Booked and looking forward to it. Not driven at Oulton in a few years now, fabulous circuit though.
  3. You're welcome. I tried him on the recommendation of a friend who has a mk2 escort rally car and bought one a few months ago as hans/fhr are mandatory for rallying now.
  4. https://www.gov.uk/motorcycle-helmet-law Take a deep breath - I think this means motor bike helmets are OK.
  5. Just to add extra complication ,most snell race helmets are'nt road legal. My new arai gp6 specifically states on the rear not approved for road use on motorcycles. I've never seen a helmet checked on a track day. Dont most motor bike helmets conform to one of the BS specs quoted?
  6. I've just ordered a Simpson hybrid. If you haven't already bought one try Tim Finch rallye sport. He was cheapsest by miles when I've just looked compared to everyone else. I fit in a medium and it was <475 inc vat and postage.
  7. Entirely understand James. Thanks for the reply.
  8. James is there any particular reason why all the days aren't open for booking. I'm not trying to be argumentative I'm just interested since all the normal suspects lotus on track, bat, javelin, gold track et al have had their days available to book for months. Surely it'd be a good idea to have the days open for booking for as long as possible rather than just a few weeks in advance and then wonder why no one signs up.
  9. The MSA don't allow the use of aluminum wheel nuts on race cars which should tell you all you need to know. My old 968 CS had ali wheel nuts as standard and I never felt comfortable nipping them up if I'm honest. I use std ford open nuts on the seven and i doubt you'll notice any weight benefit, you'd probably be better spending the cash on a half hour tuition session with an instructor.
  10. Could I be so bold as to ask when the remaining L7C track days will be available to book because I'm trying to plan out which events I'll be doing this summer.
  11. I had a few issues with my c tek not working properly and i never got to the bottom of it. I have an optimate which i think is better.
  12. depending on your height in the car when seated don't some people need to have the harness fixings under the chassis rail and then cut a couple of holes in the rear bulk head to pass the harness straps through.
  13. I love oulton, especially the shell hair pin! It's bogey circuit for me though as i went off on the exit of lodge after harassing a 997gt3 for several laps and not been back since. The fix involved much beer and a trip to Huntingdon. How do i pay?
  14. Thanks I don't have time to edit the footage I have from the other sessions and our out in the sticks tinted net is woefully slow so j doubt I'll upload anymore. The gear changes are addictive as is screaming the engine to 11500 rpm.
  15. The first couple of mins are worth a watch http://www.youtube.com/attribution_link?a=5_xJIQoGH0M&u=/watch%3Fv%3Da1WhQLVV1aA%26feature%3Dem-upload_owner
  16. Hi it was a great day at brands yesterday. I was held up on the odd occasion but hey ho its s track day and novices are often more worried about learning the lines than using their mirrors. It's a lot to take in, hopefully I was courteous and gave people sufficient room when passing and didn't hustle.
