  1. My second spot of the weekend. Flashed past me heading the other way, lovely shade of blue.
  2. My aero filler is has a slight chamfer on the topmost of the four cutouts inside, which helps the nozzle fit in,see the picture at the bottom of the Newton page below for the cutouts in question. I presume someone has opened it out slightly to cure this problem. I've not had any problems filling. https://www.newton-equipment.com/aero-300-filler-cap.html
  3. At the lights by McDonalds on the A41
  4. And watch out for the Gates complete 'belt, tensioner and waterpump' kits.. I bought one expecting top quality, only to find a plastic impeller water pump in it.
  5. Hi JV. I read the word doc you kindly linked to. I get the aim of it, but wasn't sure why a 7 would be a special case when 'normal' cars don't need the CRB under slight load. I'll read it again later and see what I missed. For my particular problem I'm sure some downward tension would help - though fixing the root cause (hopefully just the bush) would be better!
  6. Thanks all. Domus - you're right, v. annoying. Those extra springs look useful although I think I'd still get a brief rattle each time I loaded the pedal. I found the bush on CC parts so will start with that. I initially thought it was impending crb failure but there's no other symptoms so hopefully just the pedal.
  7. My K-series clutch pedal has developed an annoying buzz / vibration above a certain engine speed. If I lift the pedal or put pressure on to tension the cable it goes away. If I only touch it lightly it amplifies the vibration. The pedal has an awful lot of end float on the shaft and a small amount of play in the bush. Is this likely to be the problem and if so what do people do to fix it? Shim the pedal/shaft? Live with it?
  8. First time I've seen it out - looks really good in the new colour.
  9. A few cars ahead so didn't see the number. Sunday afternoon.
  10. I've got the red halfords rollcab and toolboxes, bought about 6 years ago and they came with rubber liners. If yours didn't I'd ask them why.
  11. I thought about removing it but the old trim has marked the edge of the scuttle. Having no strong feelings either way i thought a shiny bit would look better. Seems a bit odd that when everyone needs 1.2 m of it the standard length sold is 1m..
  12. Bought a few bits from caterham including a new scuttle trim (black rubbery strip) as mine was spitting at the end. The length they've sent is about 6 inches too short. Just checked my order and it turns out its sold per metre - doh. Is it used anywhere else on the car? Or is a 1 metre length good for the bin?
  13. Pair of wingstays from my 2007 Academy car which I think makes them standard 13-14 inch ones, Drilled for wings, could use a repaint. Post at cost or collect, Bushey, Herts. £50 the pair.
  14. I was waiting for someone to come along with the usual detailed BC answer. On Caterhamparts, ignoring CSR front springs there are two different front spring weights listed.. 150lb (Front Spring Rover not VVC) and 250lb (Race Front not VVC). I have an ex Academy, converted to supersport. Do I have 250lb race springs or 150lb 'normal' springs? Do roadsports have one and SLRs the other? Dampers on the other hand just seem to vary according to year.
  15. Passenger side lowered race wing stay to go with the RHS one Ive got. looking to pay around 25-30. Failing that I'll probably cut down a standard one.
  16. Cramers in Watford did a good job on a head for me a while back. http://www.cramersltd.co.uk/
  17. Anyone have a pair of ap callipers kicking about, to fit a 2007 metric car.
  18. My car came with 8's on the rear and the spare pair of 6's the owner had taken off to fit them. I like the look of the 8's so have kept them on. I get that there is no advantage to having 8's on my 140hp car but is there a performance disadvantage?
  19. Paul, just to reassure you, I have a 2007 metric car -first of the metrics, near last of the ford diffs and have the same cruising speed whine as you. It only does it when hot but given they all do it I've never considered any sound deadening
  20. Parked at runton road looking all shiny.
  21. None of the velcro on my Oxted seat pads stuck properly. In practice the top flaps just stay put on their own and the front edge sits there rather than lipping under. Every now and then I think about glueing some velcro under the front of the seat but the absence of it has no effect on the seat pads in use. They weren't cheap, even before the steep price rise, but I wouldn't be without them in looks or comfort.
  22. Just replied to a private message - got an error so tried again.. same error. Gave up, reloaded the homepage to see two 'you sent a message..' messages but also two failed message messages. Obviously it would be helpful if I'd copied and paste the exact errors but well, its Friday night and the wine is flowing.
  23. Mankee.. Bedford? Could be tempted, we were talking about doing one once Ie mans was out of the way
  24. Interesting comments, thanks all. Water temperature was fine at a smidge over 80 despite the high outside temperature. If I had been doing a steady 90 (which I wasn't) the oil would have been at 120, dropping back to 110 at 80. It could well be oil level related as I've just changed it and aimed for the full mark. I'll take some out and see if drops the temperature.
  25. After a prolonged high speed run in the UK and again in France my oil was showing 120C and sometimes slightly more. It's a 1.6K supersport spec with an apollo. Is that temperature normal and how bad is it? Wondering if I need to invest in an oil cooler.
