  1. Hi All, I spent a couple of hours going over the car, pulled off the crank sensor and reattached it, added another wire from the battery to an earth point on the bulk head, checked under the dash for any loose wires, pulled out all the wiring that I tucked away to get to the main ecu plug and reconnected it, pulled off the inertia switch and reconnected it. No joy. Mike, They flicker very slightly, but not much more than that. I'm in the Kenley/Caterham area so if anyone is local and thinks they might be able to help or has a ecu lead, it'll be appreciated. Chris
  2. Thanks ChrisC - Looks like SBD are away until the 2nd so I will investigate that if the other suggestions fail. I have some time off tomorrow so will try the above first. If that fails, i'll connect SBD RS2000, I took out a spark lead, connected it to another spark plug and touched it against the casing while turning the engine over. I couldn't see it sparking.
  3. ChrisC, what software/lead do I need? I'm happy to invest in it. Essex is probably a bit far, but, thanks for the offer.
  4. Hi Andrew, The guide says 15 litres. I put in 17 to make sure. I even double checked the receipt to make sure I didn't buy diesel like i'm used to. I think we're into the silly question stage now, which is fine by me.I'm convinced it's something i've missed. The battery is charged. Chris
  5. Hi Vesmeister, This is a picture I took when I was in Caterham south a month or so ago. Not sure if it helps. https://www.dropbox.com/s/w4h7vpyuhsw2orh/2014-11-03%2012.08.51.jpg?dl=0 it's not a picture of mine which hasn't gone through the IVA yet Chris
  6. Thanks all. I will have ago at the above suggestions. Interestingly, when I spoke to Caterham about the immobiliser, they suggested that when it is all connected up for the first time, the car can turnover without it being unimmobilised - a bit wierd! Anyway, I do have to move the fob side to the ignition barrel for it to work, so I think I can discount that. If the car isn't earthed properly, would it still turnover?
  7. Hi John, Tell me about it! I really don't want it to go back to caterham without starting it. It's starting to put a bit of a damper on the experience. I'm not sure which sensor is the crank position sensor - can you enlighten me? Lights, horn, heater etc all work.
  8. Hi Jonathan, Its the standard supersport dash, which i believe is just a standard dash. No kill switch. I checked all the fuses and they look ok. I have pushed in everything that I can see, but there aren't that many connections.
  9. I pretty sure its not the immobiliser. I can hear it click and the light appears to do everything correctly.
  10. Hi OliW, Yeah, the inertia switch is pressed down.
  11. Hi All, I am 95% of the way through a new build and the post title says it all really. I have (as far as I can tell), put all the wires in the right places. The engine has a very healthy turns over and gets oil pressure but it won't fire. First, I checked the fuel line and judging by the amount of fuel that sprayed over me when I disconnected the fuel line, that it isn't the problem. I then tested a spark plug and it doesn't seem to be sparking. I have kind of reached the end of my ability to debug this issue. Any thoughts on how to proceed appreciated. by the way it's a sigma 140 Chris

    Gearbox oil

Sorry about the reply format. The website/forum strips out CR when I use my phone

    Gearbox oil

Jonathan, I will take some photos when I do it. Nigel, I think you mean miata.net? I must admit that the response for this particular question was a bit vague, but, in general the tech support has been very good. Very speedy responses with photos etc, so I have no complaints on that part. Having said that after sales still haven't responded to my email after 3 days. I assume the correct way to fill it is to remove the level plug and then fill from the top. Although, I don't see while it shouldn't just be filled from the level plug?

    Gearbox oil

Thanks all. I posted something on the mazda site on pistonheads. A couple of people replied to say it should be filled from the side. I also emailed Caterham yesterday who said the new gearbox has been filled with oil already so I don't need to bother. Even in the gearlevel mount. Although they did say you fill it from the top, without explicitly confirming the bolt in the picture is the fill hole. I'm just going to check the level and leave it at that. Thanks

    Gearbox oil

This is a bit of a simple question, so feel a bit silly asking, but is this where I add the oil to the gearbox? How do I know when there is enough in there? Its the new mazda 5 speed box. thanks
  16. Is this what you want to see? Sorry, it doesnt look like I can upload photos using my mobile https://db.tt/6enms4hw - https://db.tt/NpltyMTl Sorry for the funny format but the website seems to be stripping out new line characters.
  17. I have the wiring diagram - my question was about learning to how to understand it as I am not an electrical engineer. No kill switch Yes, I do have a multimeter
  18. When I spoke to Caterham about this they first told me to check the fuel relay by swaping it over with another one. Assuming I had targeted the correct relay, this didn't work. Next, they sent me a picture of the wiring connections for the ignition as they though that might be the issue. This is the picture they sent. Mine looks like this. So, three questions, really: 1. Does anyone know what the purple wires are for? I kind of assume that they are for some other part of the system that the car in the picture from caterham doesn't have. 2. would putting the bottom wires on the wrong way round make a difference? 3. does anyone know how to go about learning how to decipher the wiring diagram? i would love to know what it all means but don't really know where to start. thanks in advance for any help!!
  19. Thanks Phil. I will check out the ignition wiring.
  20. I have just finished connecting all the wiring and for no other reason than idle curiousity I decided to connect the wires to the battery. When I did this I could hear a whining sound from the rear of the car. Thinking the ignition might be on, I removed the keys and connected the battery again. It still made the same sound. Any thoughts?
  21. It might have to wait until I know what I have done is correct, otherwise it would be just as bad as the manual.
  22. That's the problem. The photo is still an old sigma setup. 10 minutes in Caterham taking a few photos sorted most of the issues. I really don't understand why they find it so hard to keep the manual up to date.
  23. Thanks Andy. I think i have it sorted now. The route is as follows: Rear of bulk head to heater, Heater to modine, Modine to t piece, LHS of engine to t piece, T piece to coolant bottle, Coolant bottle to rear of bulkhead.
  24. I've had confimation from Caterham that it isn't required. Chris
