wrogers7
I am looking into buying a 2002 R500 £42k New ... All the normal bits ... it's done 1,000 miles .. has been kept in an aircon'd room Any ideas what would be a good price ?? Thanks
clarkey
£24k? Maybe £28k at a dealer? Caterham would probably ask £30k fully prepared with a 3 month warranty.
Kevsta
Ouch! That depreciation and a half! Glad I bought a 1400SS thats worth about the same as when I bought it!
clarkey
I think more than 50% retained over 3 years is pretty good for most cars. 'lesser' Caterhams are far better, second hand ones rarely depreciate at all. This one is also affected by the stupid spec - £36k bought you all the R500 you need, I have no idea how you can get to £42k on one. I paid £21k for a 98 SLR and traded it in for an R500 for £22k. I then lost £7k on that , but that is another matter....
Sue Dinnim
The trouble with the R500 at the moment is that the CSR is coming out. CC freely admit that they obviously have to reduce the price of the R500 to sell it now given that the CSR is very competetive on price. CC have a 15k mile R500 in black on SoR with history and it will be provided with an engine refresh for £25k. A few photos plus a link to my company as I cannot do it from Blatchat. I am not a number I am a free man. Superlight number 115 Edited by - DuncanP on 13 Apr 2005 14:51:
Petrolhead
I would think CC would sell that for 28,000 and a private sale would be 25,000 - 26,000 Aparently the black one a CC is a bit messy R5 no 65 😬
frankyknuckles
the black one at CC needs a bit if TLC, it looks very well used. www.R300.net
Ken elle
It's not only the cost of buying it, you also have to factor in the price of scraping the K serries and putting a Duratec in. about £18k max in my book.
