A quick question,

What are the benefits of these drycell types over the standard factory fit? Weight? longevity? safety when competing?

My 7 doesn’t get used that much and the immobiliser drain/mains charging cycle has finally killed it. Would one of these drycells take this kind of abuse any better or will I still need to look into getting a battery conditioner?

Thanks

for Philip Smith

Yes, these gel batteries can take much more abuse than a 'open' electrolyte type battery and yes they are IMHO safer in an accident as well *wink*

As to whether you need a battery conditioner that is up to you but they're not exactly expensive - in fact for what you'd save on this bulk buy you could buy one *wink* 😬

Peter,

Thanks for the info, sounds like a must have.

Any idea which one would be better suited to a 1.8k superlight.

Is it a direct swap? ie will the battery tray/retainer need modifying and are the

Connections still screw type?

Will a standard mains battery charger still work with them?

Found a draper battery conditioner in halfords for £20 didn’t think that was bad?

Thanks again,

Phil

Arnie,

I have the 680 fitted on the standard caterham battery tray on my car. It stands vertically you need to mod the fixing strap to accomadate the narrower battery. In my opinion the 680 has too much capacity for our application the best size is the one I got for Dave jackson a 580 this has proved big enough and mounts neatly on its side within the stock battery tray.
