Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted October 21, 2003 Leadership Team Share Posted October 21, 2003 What is the stuff that car dealers use to keep tyre walls black? I've seen some of them painting stuff on from a bucket - sort of like a soap, but everything I've tried is not really up to the job. BTW, this is for the tin-top not the Se7en 😬 Stu. dino ferrana
Armorall (might not be the right spelling) Tyre Foam. This gives you the new car shiny tyres.
Joe 90
But for gawd sake don't get any on the tread You lose a lot of grip (and that's speaking from personal experience) Chassis painted, so it's up to me to screw it together
hallibut
Autoglym make a product called 'Instant Tyre Dressing'. Comes in a spray, so no effort required, makes the tyre wall look nice, but doesn't last that long. I spray it on each time I wash the car (tintop that is)... Felix E
Stu, Turtle Wax Extreme Tyre Gel is the dog's danglies and currently 2 for 1 at most Halfords. Best Regards, Felix.
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted October 21, 2003 Author Leadership Team Share Posted October 21, 2003 That sounds like the stuff Felix. I've tried the "wet look" (should that be "tart's look") dressings and apart from not lasting long I think they're somewhat OTT anyway. Years ago I used to dress the tyres a couple of times a year with tyre wall paint but it's a lot of phaff for what must be easier nowadays. Off to Halfords then Stu. sjwb
That's the problem these products tend to make the car look like it belongs on a forecourt Very simple really, use black boot polish - sparingly and keep it off the tread of course. Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted October 21, 2003 Author Leadership Team Share Posted October 21, 2003 I guess that would be classed as waxing the tyres then Steve 😬 I've picked up some of the Turtle Wax stuff, so I'll give it a go as soon as the cars dry again - rains up norf sometimes I'm just trying to smarten things up a little, and most of the products I've looked at are more suited to some Max Poncer photo shoot. Marius
No no, shoe polish on the tread is fantastic ! See the Max Powers brigades´ faces when putting down black stripes on the tarmac in 5th gear in a X-flow... 😬 Marius
