Does it really take a few months to repair ?

I would have imagined that's a couple of hours work, can someone not repair it faster ?

Don't they just clean up the crack and fill it with weld / braze or something ?  Its not a stressed area, I've repaired sumps / engine cases on my motorcycles with a two part glue basically when I dinged the cases racing.

Possibly. The last time I used specialist aluminium welders to do a job because it was deemed a “small job” they did when they had time between bigger jobs and so it took quite awhile. I was adding time so as to not mislead a lender of a sump had it taken awhile but quite possibly it could done in no time at all?

Hi Matt, I have a well worn, but sound, wet sump pan you can have on loan if needed. I will send you some photos when I get home so you decide if it is suitable for your needs.

Much appreciated Malc. Are you far from Oxfordshire?

Hertfordshire- but the on the Beds/ Bucks border. If I can get my car back on the road I’d be up for a blat over towards Bicester if that helps. Photos to follow!

These show the worst of the scraping. I chose to replace this with a new item from Redline, rather than risk another impact which might cause a failure.

I like that. That's adding lightness
