Leadership Team Midas Posted March 23 Leadership Team Share Posted March 23 I have S-type leather seats fitted, but when I was refurbishing them today I noticed there are stress cracks in the seat frames. The joint where the backrest meets the squab frame. is this repairable, or do I have a pair of scrap seats? Would rather not have to buy a new set - oh wait, they are not in stock at Caterham
simon_h
Anything can be repaired if you try hard enough. You can always contact oxted/thundersports and see if they will repair or sell the part to you?

Would an additional brace or fillet get in the way of the seat padding or surface? Jonathan
Gridgway
ISTR in the distant past when mine did this, I got them reinforced when a fabricator welded them for me.
Area Representative Paul Richards Posted March 24 Area Representative Share Posted March 24 Just needs welding. I’ve had to do mine a couple of times.
Area Representative Steve Wright Posted March 24 Area Representative Share Posted March 24 A common problem in that style of seat. Both of mine went early on in their life. Derek Moore at Classic Carriage Mallory Park welded them, then welded a steel washer into the corner for extra strength. They are still going strong after 24 years and 65k miles of fun.
