CtrMint
Hey All, Weird one this.My passenger side Caterham half door loves to inflate itself on the inside when on circuit. I guess air is getting forced in at speed. There's a reasonable bit of resistance when pushing the air back out. All the stitching looks intact.Has anyone else experienced this issue, any tips to fix?I don't particularly want to cut it open and glue it. Cheers appreciate any recommendations

Leadership Team Shortshift Posted May 8, 2023 Leadership Team Share Posted May 8, 2023 Sounds like the perfect justification for upgrading to carbon half-doors, Mark...James
CtrMint
Thanks James, Carbon ones had crossed my mind. Do you recommend a particular brand?
Leadership Team Shortshift Posted May 8, 2023 Leadership Team Share Posted May 8, 2023 Mine came from Westermann in Germany. I had the inside surfaces flocked (steady, steady...) which really improves the overall aesthetics. Surprisingly.James
7 wonders of the world
or ABS versions from YC plastics, these can be made to fit inside or outside the scuttle, at significantly less than the carbon ones from Joachim.... and probably lighter too

Ivaan
I have ABS front wings and half doors. They are lighter than CF, are indestructible, don't mark from stone chips and about 1/8th of the cost.Half doors have to be trimmed to fit, and can be shaped using a heat gun. You need special gloop to stick the cycle wings ( Sika 292??) that adheres to ABS. Mine have been on the car for over 10 years without any problems. 7 wonders of the world
mine are fitted to the outside of an SLR cage since the only ones shaped to fit inside are the expensive MOG versions, this does however offer increased elbow room.As Clive say they and the front wings are bomb proof with and the finish is far superior to the GRP versions form CC.I bonded mine with Tigerseal after abrading the surface on both the stay and wing.
