From an engineering point of view, it is without question the most advanced and capable 7 ever to be produced. The new chassis, complete fully independent rear suspension and inboard front suspension on push rods, significantly increase the overall grip and drivability of the car.The CSR came in one of two models, the CSR 200, or the CSR 260. Both were powered by a 2.3L Cosworth Duratec engine. As previously mentioned, the fifth last one made, not a ten year old track-weary veteran! finmac
At the risk of asking the daft yet obvious question, because it's a CI car then 20% VAT is due upon it being registered with DVLA making the actual price over £50K?
Canger2
That is of course correct. This is a exceptional car, almost new - unlike the many track-tired / high-mileage/re-built cars offered for sale.People who know Caterhams acknowledge the unique position that the CSR260 occupies in the Caterham hierarchy - and this is quite simply the best car available with an enormous list of extras.A 420SV is now butting against £50K, and the chassis, suspension and engine of this CSR260 is in another league.Take the time to read some of the references listed - it becomes very clear. But all prices can be certainly be negotiated. Hampshire West AR
With such low mileage it's going to be like new. Cars are worth what people are prepared to pay, I see that there is another CSR at Joe Macari at £50K with a R500 engine(never knew of that model.?).Good luck with the sake, car sounds amazing.Nick

Leadership Team Shortshift Posted March 21, 2022 Leadership Team Share Posted March 21, 2022 The CSR R500 was owned previously, from new, by another Club member. It used to be a regular sight on Club trackdays - usually going pretty quickly!James
Hampshire West AR
Was it another car like the Owain Davies IRS R500D development model ?
Leadership Team Shortshift Posted March 22, 2022 Leadership Team Share Posted March 22, 2022 I can't remember the full story (and perhaps the former owner will come along and explain) but, from memory, it started out as a factory build but was completed elsewhere. A very interesting car.James
Chippy
Realise we're getting a little off topic but that CSR R500 at Joe Macari was, I believe, built at Caterham Midlands by Simon Briggs. Definitely bespoke and Simon these days is at Vitesse Global in Leicester taking care of similar bespoke projects as well as Caterham servicing, race set up etc etc. He knows his stuff.Andy
