1360rallye
The 2022 Taffia Fish & Chip Run – Saturday 14th May 2022“The F & C Run is something else – expectations have been reset” Derek Hillyard“Great people, stunning scenery and an absolutely awesome route” Alan Tough“Brilliant to see so many people enjoying their day” Tim Holyoake After a successful return to the Club calendar in September 2021 the Taffia are pleased to announce that the 2022 Fish & Chip Run will be reverting to its more usual date in May – Saturday 14th May to be precise. 2021 saw 120 cars (including 40 were first timers), traveling from Chepstow to Aberdyfi Promenade to sample fish and chips in the late summer sunshine. We hope that in 2022 we can welcome a similar number to enjoy the best Wales has to offer in terms of driving roads and scenery. The aim of the Fish & Chip Run is very simple – we want everyone to enjoy themselves safely and that the reaction of the public who see us is equally positive. Being a Taffia event we have a casual start to the day with coffee & bacon or sausage butties served from around 08.30am at our very friendly Pub - The Piercefield Inn on the A466 near Chepstow race course. We plan to leave the Piercefield at about 10.00am - in no particular order, but not all at once, to avoid a large traffic jam of sevens cluttering the towns & villages and frightening the sheep! The 280-mile round trip covers some of the finest roads in Wales, taking in: the Top Gear Black Mountain test road, Epynt Ranges, Beula rollercoaster and the Staylittle Pass across the rooftop of Wales. After this spectacular scenery and tarmac heaven, we hit the prom at about 12.30pm to see the sights, have a chat & breathe in the salty atmosphere before filling ourselves with the local produce. It’s up to you how long you spend on the sea front before meandering back to Chepstow along the same route.A route book, with full written road directions and some suggested fuel stops, will be available at the pub in the morning. The route will also be available as a download from the clubs Blatmaps section to use on your sat nav. There are no fixed drive times, go with the flow at your own pace and try not to get lost. The best bit is its all completely free, no booking, no pre-registration, just roll up at the pub, sign on with your membership number and leave with a grin. The start point is The Piercefield Inn, Chepstow, NP16 6EJ.The Taffia has been looking at ways the event can support the Club’s fund-raising efforts on behalf of its chosen charity – Prostate Cancer Research. One idea we're trying this year is to suggest a minimum donation of £10 per car. You can donate via the Club's dedicated F& C Run Just Giving page.A new option for 2022 particularly if you’re traveling some distance to take part, or just fancy more time to socialise with fellow members, is to join some of the Taffia who are overnighting on the Saturday in Aberdyfi. There’s plenty of accommodation to choose from along the seafront - both hotels and B&Bs. A number of the Taffia have chosen the Dovey Inn as their base for the evening and you’ll be very welcome to join us.Alternatively - after a successful pilot in 2021- we’re again offering the opportunity to overnight on Friday and/or Saturday at our very own free (to club members) ‘pop up’ campsite in a lovely rural location just a few miles from the start in Chepstow. This 7 exclusive site is in a field belonging to a Taffia member and has both toilets and shower facilities. Please contact me if you’re interested in either of these options. And finally – because the Taffia Fish & Chip Run is all about making memories – we’re hoping to have a professional photographer who will take individual photos of the cars en-route against some of the best backdrops. The photo’s will be available to purchase online after the event with a significant proportion of the proceeds going to PCR. More news on this option nearer the event. We look forward to seeing you – old friends and new - on Saturday 14th May 2022.Andrew“I would have a Caterham just for this event”. MRP
tim holyoake
It was definitely a great day out last year! Pleased to see the dedicated Justgiving page - will be donating even though I'm unsure if I can make it in 2022. Thanks again to all the organisers and I hope that the 2022 event breaks all records!Tim Holyoake(with an "e" ... yes, I know it was wrong in LowFlying too, but my name with just a missing "e" is far better than some of the things I've been called )

TC
Really looking forward to the run to Aberdovey. It will be the first time for me and will be coming with my grandson. We have already booked our accommodation, though already seems non available in Aberdovey for the Saturday. With a view to planning ahead I wondered if there is any route information available yet. Best wishes, Tony C.

TC
Thanks SM, I have seen a copy of the route from 2017 so I'll use that to plan. I know it's early but I enjoy maps and route planning and winter evenings are a good time for looking ahead to better things to come.
DanRo
Hi TonyThis link is for the directions in old school format so you can map out the route at leisure over the next few months. It's from 2018 but the route we took last year was the same I believe.
